1 Chroniques 12
1 Voici ceux qui allèrent à Tsiklag, vers David, lorsqu'il était encore éloigné de la présence de Saül, fils de Kis. Ils faisaient partie des hommes vaillants qui l'aidaient à la guerre,
Also, these went to David at Ziklag, while he was still fleeing from Saul, the son of Kish. And they were very strong and distinguished fighters,
2 Armés de l'arc, lançant des pierres de la main droite et de la main gauche, et tirant des flèches avec l'arc. Ils étaient de Benjamin, d'entre les frères de Saül.
bending the bow, and using either hand in casting stones with slings, and shooting arrows. From the brothers of Saul, out of Benjamin:
3 Le chef Achiézer et Joas, enfants de Shémaa, de Guibea; Jéziel et Pélet, enfants d'Azmaveth; Béraca; Jéhu, d'Anathoth;
the leader was Ahiezer, with Joash, sons of Shemaah from Gibeah, and Jeziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth, and Beracah and Jehu, from Anathoth.
4 Jishmaeja, Gabaonite, vaillant entre les trente, et au-dessus des trente; Jérémie; Jachaziel; Jochanan; Jozabad, Guédérothite;
Also, there was Ishmaiah, from Gibeon, the strongest among the thirty and over the thirty; Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad, from Gederah;
5 Éluzaï; Jérimoth; Béalia; Shémaria; Shéphatia, Haruphien;
and Eluzai, and Jerimoth, and Bealiah, and Shemariah, and Shephatiah, the Haruphites;
6 Elkana; Jishija; Azaréel; Joézer et Jashobeam, Corites;
Elkanah, and Isshiah, and Azarel, and Joezer, and Jashobeam, from Carehim;
7 Joéla et Zébadia, enfants de Jérocham, de Guédor.
and also Joelah and Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham, from Gedor.
8 D'entre les Gadites, se retirèrent vers David, dans la forteresse, au désert, de vaillants guerriers propres à la guerre, maniant le bouclier et la lance, semblables à des lions, et aussi prompts que des gazelles sur les montagnes:
Then too, from Gad, there went over to David, when he was hiding in the desert, very robust men, who were excellent fighters, taking hold of shield and spear; their faces were like the faces of a lion, and they were swift like the roe deer upon the mountains.
9 Ézer, le chef; Obadia, le second; Éliab, le troisième;
Ezer was the leader, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,
10 Mishmanna, le quatrième; Jérémie, le cinquième;
Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,
11 Atthaï, le sixième; Éliel, le septième;
Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,
12 Jochanan, le huitième; Elzabad, le neuvième;
Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,
13 Jérémie, le dixième; Macbannaï, le onzième.
Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.
14 Ils étaient d'entre les enfants de Gad, chefs de l'armée; un seul, le moindre, en valait cent, et le plus grand, mille.
These were from the sons of Gad, leaders of the army. The least was in charge of one hundred soldiers, and the greatest was in charge of one thousand.
15 Ce sont ceux qui passèrent le Jourdain au premier mois, quand il déborde sur toutes ses rives, et qui mirent en fuite tous les habitants des vallées, à l'orient et à l'occident.
These are the ones who crossed over the Jordan in the first month, when it is accustomed to overflow its banks. And they put to flight all those who were staying in the valleys, to the eastern region and to the west.
16 Il vint aussi des enfants de Benjamin et de Juda, vers David, à la forteresse.
Then some from Benjamin and from Judah also arrived at the stronghold where David was staying.
17 David sortit au-devant d'eux et, prenant la parole, il leur dit: Si vous êtes venus dans un esprit de paix vers moi pour m'aider, mon cœur s'unira à vous; mais si c'est pour me tromper au profit de mes ennemis, bien que je ne sois coupable d'aucune violence, que le Dieu de nos pères le voie, qu'il fasse justice!
And David went out to meet them, and he said: “If you have arrived peacefully, so as to be a help to me, may my heart be joined to you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, though I have no iniquity in my hands, may the God of our fathers see and judge.”
18 Alors Amasaï, chef de ceux qui combattent sur des chars, fut revêtu de l'Esprit, et il dit: Nous sommes à toi, David, et avec toi, fils d'Isaï! Paix, paix à toi! Et paix à celui qui te secourt, car ton Dieu t'a secouru! Et David les reçut, et les plaça parmi les chefs de ses troupes.
Truly, the Spirit clothed Amasai, the leader among the thirty, and he said: “O David, we are yours! O son of Jesse, we are for you! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers. For your God helps you.” Therefore, David received them, and he appointed them as leaders of troops.
19 De Manassé, il y en eut aussi qui passèrent à David, quand il vint avec les Philistins pour combattre contre Saül. Mais David et ses gens ne les aidèrent point, parce que les princes des Philistins, après délibération, le renvoyèrent, en disant: Il passerait à son seigneur Saül, au péril de nos têtes.
Moreover, some from Manasseh crossed over to David, when he went forth with the Philistines against Saul, so that he might fight. But he did not fight with them. For the leaders of the Philistines, taking counsel, sent him back, saying, “To the peril of our own heads, he will return to his lord, Saul.”
20 Quand il retourna à Tsiklag, Adna, Jozabad, Jédiaël, Micaël, Jozabad, Élihu et Tsiléthaï, chefs des milliers de Manassé, passèrent à lui.
And so, when he returned to Ziklag, some fled over to him from Manasseh: Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Adnah, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zillethai, leaders of thousands in Manasseh.
21 Ils aidèrent David contre les bandes des Amalécites; car ils étaient tous de vaillants guerriers, et ils furent chefs dans l'armée.
These offered assistance to David against the robbers. For all were very strong men, and they became leaders in the army.
22 Et journellement il venait des gens vers David pour l'aider, jusqu'à former un grand camp, comme un camp de Dieu.
Then, too, some came to David throughout each day, in order to help him, until they became a great number, like the army of God.
23 Voici le nombre des hommes équipés pour l'armée, qui vinrent vers David à Hébron, pour lui transférer la royauté de Saül, selon l'ordre de l'Éternel:
Now this is the number of the leaders of the army who went to David when he was at Hebron, so that they might transfer the kingdom of Saul to him, in accord with the word of the Lord:
24 Enfants de Juda, portant le bouclier et la javeline, six mille huit cents, équipés pour l'armée.
the sons of Judah, carrying shield and spear, six thousand eight hundred, equipped for battle;
25 Des enfants de Siméon, vaillants guerriers pour l'armée, sept mille cent.
from the sons of Simeon, very strong men for the fight, seven thousand one hundred;
26 Des enfants de Lévi, quatre mille six cents;
from the sons of Levi, four thousand six hundred;
27 Et Jéhojada, prince d'Aaron, et avec lui trois mille sept cents hommes;
as well as Jehoiada, a leader from the stock of Aaron, and with him three thousand seven hundred;
28 Et Tsadok, jeune homme, fort et vaillant, et la maison de son père: vingt-deux chefs.
and then Zadok, a youth of distinguished qualities, and the house of his father, twenty-two leaders;
29 Des enfants de Benjamin, frères de Saül, trois mille; car jusqu'alors la plus grande partie d'entre eux était restée attachée à la maison de Saül.
and from the sons of Benjamin, brothers of Saul, three thousand, for still a great part of them were following the house of Saul.
30 Des enfants d'Éphraïm, vingt mille huit cents, vaillants guerriers, hommes de renom d'après les maisons de leurs pères.
Then from the sons of Ephraim, there were twenty thousand eight hundred, very strong and robust men, renowned among their kindred.
31 De la demi-tribu de Manassé, dix-huit mille, qui furent désignés par leurs noms pour aller établir David roi.
And out of the one half tribe of Manasseh, eighteen thousand, each by their names, went forth so that they might appoint David as king.
32 Des enfants d'Issacar, qui savaient discerner les temps, pour savoir ce qu'Israël devait faire, deux cents de leurs chefs, et tous leurs frères sous leurs ordres.
Also, from the sons of Issachar, there were learned men, who knew each of the times, in order to anticipate what Israel ought to do, two hundred leaders. And all the remainder of the tribe were following their counsel.
33 De Zabulon, cinquante mille, allant à l'armée, équipés pour le combat, de toutes les armes de guerre, pour se ranger en bataille d'un cœur sans partage.
Then, from Zebulun, there were those who went forth to battle, and who were standing in a battle line, prepared with the weapons of warfare; these fifty thousand arrived to assist, without duplicity of heart.
34 De Nephthali, mille chefs, et avec eux trente-sept mille hommes, portant le bouclier et la lance.
And from Naphtali, there were one thousand leaders; and with them were thirty-seven thousand, prepared with shield and spear.
35 Des Danites équipés pour la guerre, vingt-huit mille six cents.
And then from Dan, there were twenty-eight thousand six hundred, ready for battle.
36 D'Asser, allant à l'armée pour se ranger en bataille, quarante mille.
And from Asher, there were forty thousand, going forth to fight, and summoned to the battle line.
37 Et d'au delà du Jourdain: des Rubénites, des Gadites, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, avec toutes les armes d'une armée en guerre, cent vingt mille.
Then, across the Jordan, there were, from the sons of Reuben, and from Gad, and from the one half tribe of Manasseh, one hundred twenty thousand, prepared with the weapons of warfare.
38 Tous ceux-là, gens de guerre, rangés en bataille, vinrent avec un cœur sincère à Hébron, pour établir David roi sur tout Israël. Or, tout le reste d'Israël était unanime aussi pour établir David roi.
All these men of war, equipped for the fight, went with a perfect heart to Hebron, so that they might appoint David as king over all of Israel. Then, too, all the remainder of Israel were of one heart, so that they might make David king.
39 Et ils furent là, avec David, mangeant et buvant pendant trois jours; car leurs frères leur avaient préparé des vivres;
And they were in that place with David for three days, eating and drinking. For their brothers had made preparations for them.
40 Et même ceux qui étaient les plus près d'eux, jusqu'à Issacar, à Zabulon et à Nephthali, apportaient des vivres sur des ânes, sur des chameaux, sur des mulets et sur des bœufs; des aliments de farine, des masses de figues sèches et de raisins secs, du vin, de l'huile, des bœufs et des brebis en abondance; car il y avait de la joie en Israël.
Moreover, those who were near to them, even as far as Issachar, and Zebulun, and Naphtali, were bringing, on donkeys and camels and mules and oxen, bread for their provisions, with grain, dried figs, dried grapes, wine, oil, and oxen and sheep, with all abundance. For indeed, there was joy in Israel.
