Romains 8
1 Il n'y a donc maintenant aucune condamnation pour ceux qui sont en Christ.
[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 En effet, la loi de l'esprit, qui donne la vie en Jésus-Christ, m'a affranchi de la loi du Péché et de la mort; car ce qui était impossible à la loi,
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 parce que la chair la rendait impuissante, Dieu l'a fait: en envoyant, à cause du péché, son propre Fils, dans une chair semblable à la chair de péché, il a prononcé la sentence de mort du Péché dans la chair même,
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 afin que la justice ordonnée par la loi soit réalisée en nous, qui marchons, non selon la chair, mais selon l'esprit.
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 En effet, ceux qui vivent selon la chair, s'affectionnent aux choses de la chair, tandis que ceux qui vivent selon l'esprit, s'affectionnent aux choses de l'esprit.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 Or les affections de la chair, c'est la mort, tandis que les affections de l'esprit, c'est la vie et la paix;
For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.
7 attendu que les affections de la chair sont inimitié contre Dieu, car elles ne sont pas soumises à Dieu, elles ne peuvent même pas se soumettre à Lui.
Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 Ceux qui vivent selon la chair ne peuvent plaire à Dieu.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 Pour vous, vous ne vivez pas selon la chair, mais vous vivez selon l'esprit, si toutefois l'Esprit de Dieu habite en vous. Si quelqu'un n'a pas l'Esprit de Christ, il ne lui appartient pas;
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 mais si Christ est en vous, le corps est mort à cause du péché, et l'esprit est vie à cause de la justice.
And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness.
11 Et si l'Esprit de Celui qui a ressuscité Jésus d'entre les morts habite en vous, Celui qui a ressuscité Christ d'entre les morts, donnera aussi la vie à vos corps mortels, parce que son Esprit habite en vous.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Ainsi donc, mes frères, nous ne sommes point redevables à la chair, pour vivre selon la chair;
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 car si vous vivez selon la chair, vous mourrez, mais si, par l'esprit, vous faites mourir les actions auxquelles la chair sollicite, vous vivrez;
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 car tous ceux qui sont conduits par l'Esprit de Dieu, sont fils de Dieu.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 En effet, vous n'avez pas reçu un esprit d'esclavage, pour être encore dans la crainte, mais vous avez reçu un esprit filial, par lequel nous crions: «Abba! Père!»
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 Cet esprit même témoigne à notre esprit que nous sommes enfants de Dieu.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 — Et, si nous sommes enfants, nous sommes aussi héritiers, héritiers de Dieu et cohéritiers de Christ, si toutefois nous souffrons avec lui, afin d'être aussi glorifiés avec lui.
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.
18 J'estime que les souffrances du temps présent ne sont rien au prix de la gloire qui nous doit advenir.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 Car la Création dans l'attente, attend l'apparition des fils de Dieu:
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 en effet, la Création a été assujettie à la vanité — non de son gré, mais par la volonté de Celui qui l'y a soumise —
For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected [the same] in hope,
21 avec l'espérance qu'elle aussi, la Création, sera affranchie de l'esclavage de la corruption, pour avoir part à la liberté de la gloire des enfants de Dieu.
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 Car nous savons que toute la Création gémit et souffre jusqu’à présent,
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 et non seulement elle, mais nous-mêmes aussi, quoique nous ayons les prémices de l'Esprit, nous-mêmes aussi, nous gémissons intérieurement, attendant d'être adoptés, délivrés de notre corps.
And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.
24 En effet, c'est en espérance que nous sommes sauvés; or, quand on voit ce qu'on espère, ce n'est pas espérance; car espère-t-on encore ce qu'on voit?
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 mais, si nous espérons ce que nous ne voyons pas, nous l'attendons avec patience.
But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it].
26 L'Esprit aussi vient pareillement en aide à notre faiblesse: lorsque nous ne savons que demander, ni comment demander, l'Esprit intercède par de muets soupirs,
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 et Celui qui sonde les coeurs, connaît quels sont les désirs de l'Esprit, il sait qu'il intercède, selon Dieu, pour des saints.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.
28 Nous savons, d'ailleurs, que toutes choses concourent au bien de ceux qui aiment Dieu, de ceux qui ont été appelés conformément à son plan,
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.
29 savoir que ceux qu'il a prédestinés et désignés d'avance pour être semblables à l'image de son Fils, en sorte qu'il soit l'aîné d'un grand nombre de frères,
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 que ceux, dis-je, qu'il a désignés d'avance, il les a aussi appelés, — que ceux qu'il a appelés, il les a aussi justifiés, — que ceux qu'il a justifiés, il les a aussi glorifiés.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 Que dirons-nous donc à ce propos? Si Dieu est pour nous, qui sera contre nous?
What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us?
32 Lui qui n'a pas épargné son propre Fils, mais qui l'a livré à la mort pour nous tous, comment ne nous accordera-t-il pas aussi toutes choses avec lui?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 — Qui accusera les élus de Dieu? Dieu les justifie!
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? [It is] God that justifieth.
34 — Qui les condamnera? Christ est mort! Bien mieux, il est ressuscité, il est à la droite de Dieu, il intercède pour nous!
Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 — Qui nous arrachera à l'amour de Christ? sera-ce l'affliction, la détresse, la persécution, la faim, le dénûment, le péril, l'épée,
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 car, «à cause de toi, comme dit l'Ecriture, on nous met à mort tout le jour, on nous tient pour des brebis de boucherie?»
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Mais, dans toutes ces calamités, nous sommes plus que vainqueurs par celui qui nous a aimés;
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 car je suis assuré que ni la mort, ni la vie, ni anges, ni archanges, ni choses présentes, ni choses à venir,
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 ni puissances, ni hauteurs, ni abîmes, ni rien au monde, ne pourra nous séparer de l'amour que Dieu nous a témoigné en Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur!
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
