Apocalypse 13
1 Je vis alors monter de la mer, une bête féroce qui avait dix cornes et sept têtes, et sur ses cornes, dix diadèmes, et sur ses têtes, un nom de blasphème.
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 La bête que je vis, ressemblait à un léopard; ses pieds étaient comme ceux d'un ours, et sa gueule comme une gueule de lion. Le dragon lui donna sa puissance, son trône et une grande autorité.
And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 On aurait dit que l'une de ses têtes avait été blessée à mort, mais sa blessure mortelle avait été guérie.
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 Tous les habitants de la terre, saisis d'admiration, suivaient la bête; ils adorèrent le dragon, parce qu'il avait donné l'autorité à la bête, et ils adorèrent la bête, en disant: «Qui est semblable à la bête, et qui peut se mesurer avec elle?»
And they worshiped the dragon which gave power to the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who [is] like the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 On lui donna une bouche qui profère des paroles arrogantes et blasphématoires, et le pouvoir d'agir pendant quarante-deux mois.
And there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given to him to continue forty [and] two months.
6 Elle ouvrit donc la bouche pour blasphémer contre Dieu, pour blasphémer son nom, son tabernacle, et ceux qui habitent dans le ciel.
And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 Et on lui donna de faire la guerre aux saints et de les vaincre, ainsi que le pouvoir sur toute tribu, tout peuple, toute langue et toute nation:
And it was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and languages, and nations.
8 et tous les habitants de la terre l'adoreront, ceux du moins dont le nom n'a pas été écrit, dès la fondation du monde, dans le livre de vie de l'agneau qui a été immolé.
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 Que celui qui a des oreilles entende.
If any man hath an ear, let him hear.
10 Celui qui mène en captivité, sera mené lui-même en captivité; celui qui tue par l'épée, doit être tué lui-même par l'épée. C'est ici que la patience et la foi des saints doivent se montrer.
He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 Je vis ensuite monter de la terre une autre bête féroce qui avait deux cornes semblables à celles d'un agneau, et qui parlait comme un dragon.
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon.
12 Elle exerçait toute l'autorité de la première bête, sous ses yeux, et elle amenait la terre et ses habitants à adorer la première bête, dont la blessure mortelle avait été guérie;
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 elle opérait aussi de grands prodiges, jusqu’à faire descendre du ciel du feu sur la terre, à la vue des hommes.
And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 Séduisant les habitants de la terre par les prodiges qu'il lui avait été donné d'opérer sous les yeux de la bête, elle leur persuada de faire une image en l'honneur de la bête qui porte la blessure du glaive, et qui a repris vie.
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and lived.
15 Et il lui fut donné d'animer l'image de la bête, afin que cette image parlât, et qu'elle fît mettre à mort tous ceux qui n'adoreraient pas l'image de la bête.
And he had power to give life to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 Elle amena tous les hommes, petits et grands, riches et pauvres, libres et esclaves, à s'imprimer eux-mêmes une marque sur la main droite ou sur le front,
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 afin que nul ne pût acheter ni vendre, s'il n'avait pas la marque, savoir le nom de la bête ou le nombre de son nom.
And that no man might buy or sell, save him that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 C'est ici que la sagesse doit se montrer. Que celui qui a de l'intelligence, calcule le nombre de la bête, car c'est le nombre d'un homme, et son nombre est six cent soixante-six.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] six hundred and sixty six.
