1 Généalogie de Jésus-Christ, fils de David, fils d'Abraham.
[The] scroll of the birth of Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of Abraham.
2 Abraham engendra Isaac; Isaac, Jacob; Jacob, Juda et ses frères;
Abraham begot Isaac, and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers,
3 Juda, Phares et Zara, qu'il eut de Thamar; Phares, Esrom; Esrom, Aram;
and Judah begot Perez and Zerah of Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram,
4 Aram, Aminabad; Aminabad, Naasson; Naasson, Salmon;
and Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,
5 Salmon, Booz, qu'il eut de Rahab; Booz, Jobed, qu'il eut de Ruth;

and Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her [who had been] Uriah’s,

and Solomon begot Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa,
8 Asa, Josaphat; - Josaphat, Joram; Joram, Ozias;
and Asa begot Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah,
9 Ozias, Joatham; Joatham, Achez; Achez, Ezéchias;
and Uzziah begot Jotham, and Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah,
10 Ezéchias, Manassé; Manassé, Amos; Amos, Josias;
and Hezekiah begot Manasseh, and Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah,
11 Josias, Jéchonias et ses frères, lors de l'émigration à Babylone.
and Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers, at the Babylonian removal.

And after the Babylonian removal, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel,
13 Zorobabel, Abioud; Abioud, Eliacim; Eliacim, Azor;
and Zerubbabel begot Abiud, and Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor,
14 Azor, Sadoc; Sadoc, Achim; Achim, Elioud;
and Azor begot Sadok, and Sadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud,
15 Elioud, Eléazar; Eléazar, Matthan; Matthan, Jacob;
and Eliud begot Eleazar, and Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob,
16 Jacob, Joseph, le mari de Marie, de laquelle naquit Jésus, qu'on appelle Christ.
and Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was begotten Jesus, who is named Christ.

All the generations, therefore, from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations, and from David to the Babylonian removal fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian removal to the Christ, fourteen generations.
18 Or, voici de quelle manière Jésus-Christ vint au monde. Marie, sa mère, ayant été fiancée à Joseph, se trouva enceinte par l'effet du Saint-Esprit, avant qu'ils eussent habité ensemble.
And of Jesus Christ, the birth was thus: for His mother Mary having been betrothed to Joseph, before their coming together she was found to have conceived from the Holy Spirit,
19 Joseph, son mari, étant un homme de bien, et ne voulant pas l'exposer à la honte, résolut de la répudier secrètement.
and her husband Joseph being righteous, and not willing to make her an example, resolved to send her away privately.
20 Il y pensait, lorsqu'un ange du Seigneur lui apparut en songe, et lui dit: «Joseph, fils de David, ne crains point de prendre chez toi Marie, ta femme; car l'enfant qu'elle a conçu est du Saint-Esprit.
And on his thinking of these things, behold, a messenger of the LORD appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, you may not fear to receive your wife Mary, for that which was begotten in her is of [the] Holy Spirit,
21 Elle mettra au monde un fils, et tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus, parce que c'est lui qui sauvera son peuple de ses péchés.»
and she will bring forth a Son, and you will call His Name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 Tout cela arriva, afin que s'accomplît ce qu'avait dit le Seigneur par le prophète:
And all this has come to pass, that it may be fulfilled that was spoken by the LORD through the prophet, saying,
23 «Voici, la vierge sera enceinte; elle mettra au monde un fils à qui l’on donnera le nom d'Emmanuel, » ce qui signifie «Dieu avec nous.»
“Behold, the virgin will conceive, and she will bring forth a Son, and they will call His Name Emmanuel,” which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”
24 A son réveil, Joseph fit comme l'ange du Seigneur le lui avait commandé: il prit sa femme chez lui.
And Joseph, having risen from sleep, did as the messenger of the LORD directed him, and received his wife,
25 Et il ne la connut point, jusqu’à ce qu'elle eût mis au monde un fils, et il lui donna le nom de Jésus.
and did not know her until she brought forth her Son—the firstborn, and he called His Name Jesus.
