Luc 8
1 Ensuite Jésus alla de ville en ville et de village en village, prêchant et annonçant la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu.
Soon afterwards, he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of God’s Kingdom. With him were the twelve,
2 Il était accompagné des Douze et de quelques femmes qu'il avait guéries des mauvais esprits et de leurs maladies; c’était Marie, appelée Madeleine, de laquelle étaient sortis sept démons,
and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out;
3 Jeanne, femme de Chouza, intendant d'Hérode, Suzanne et plusieurs autres qui l'assistaient de leurs biens, lui et ses disciples.
and Joanna, the wife of Chuzas, Herod’s steward; Susanna; and many others who served them from their possessions.
4 Un jour que s'était amassée une foule nombreuse, grossie de ceux qui de ville en ville venaient vers lui, il leur dit en parabole:
When a great multitude came together and people from every city were coming to him, he spoke by a parable:
5 «Un semeur sortit pour faire ses semailles; et, comme il semait, une partie de la semence tomba le long du chemin; elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent.
“The farmer went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some fell along the road, and it was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it.
6 Une autre partie tomba sur le roc: elle poussa et sécha, parce qu'elle manquait d'humidité.
Other seed fell on the rock, and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture.
7 Une autre partie tomba au milieu des épines; et les épines poussant avec la semence, l’étouffèrent.
Other fell amid the thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it.
8 Enfin une autre partie tomba dans la bonne terre, elle poussa et produisit du fruit au centuple.» Puis il ajouta à haute voix: «Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende.»
Other fell into the good ground and grew and produced one hundred times as much fruit.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
9 Ses disciples lui ayant demandé ce que signifiait cette parabole,
Then his disciples asked him, “What does this parable mean?”
10 il répondit: «Pour vous, il vous a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume de Dieu; mais pour les autres, ce n'est qu'en paraboles, afin qu’en regardant, ils ne voient point, et qu'en entendant, ils ne comprennent point.»
He said, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of God’s Kingdom, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’
11 Voici donc le sens de cette parabole: La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Ceux qui reçoivent la semence le long du chemin, sont ceux qui entendent la Parole; ensuite le diable vient, et il l'enlève de leur coeur, de peur qu'ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
Those along the road are those who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.
13 Ceux qui reçoivent la semence sur le roc, sont ceux qui reçoivent la Parole avec joie, dès qu'ils l'entendent, mais qui, n'ayant pas de racines, ne croient que pour un temps, et font défection au moment de l'épreuve.
Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation.
14 Quant à la partie qui est tombée parmi les épines, ce sont ceux qui ont entendu la Parole, et qui, en cheminant, la laissent étouffer par les soucis, par les richesses et par les plaisirs de la vie, et ne donnent que des fruits avortés.
What fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life; and they bring no fruit to maturity.
15 Quant à la partie qui est tombée dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui entendent la Parole avec un coeur honnête et bon, la conservent, et portent du fruit avec persévérance.
Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.
16 «Il n'est personne, qui, après avoir allumé une lampe, la couvre d'un vase, ou la mette sous un lit; mais on la met sur un pied, afin que ceux qui entrent voient clair.
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.
17 Car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne se découvre, ni rien de secret qui ne finisse par être connu, et ne vienne au grand jour.
For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.
18 Prenez donc garde à la manière dont vous écoutez; car on donnera à celui qui a, mais pour celui qui n'a pas, on lui ôtera même ce qu'il croit avoir.»
Be careful therefore how you hear. For whoever has, to him will be given; and whoever does not have, from him will be taken away even that which he thinks he has.”
19 Cependant la mère et les frères de Jésus étaient venus le trouver, et ne pouvaient arriver jusqu’à lui, à cause de la foule.
His mother and brothers came to him, and they could not come near him for the crowd.
20 On l'en informa en lui disant: «Ta mère et tes frères sont là dehors, qui désirent te voir.»
Some people told him, “Your mother and your brothers stand outside, desiring to see you.”
21 Il répondit: «Ma mère et mes frères sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu, et qui la mettent en pratique.»
But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
22 Un jour il entra dans une barque avec ses disciples, et leur dit: «Passons de l'autre côté du lac; » et ils partirent.
Now on one of those days, he entered into a boat, himself and his disciples, and he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they launched out.
23 Pendant qu'ils naviguaient, Jésus s'endormit, et un ouragan ayant fondu sur le lac, la barque se remplissait d'eau; et ils étaient en péril.
But as they sailed, he fell asleep. A wind storm came down on the lake, and they were taking on dangerous amounts of water.
24 Les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus et le réveillèrent en disant: «Maître, maître, nous périssons.» Jésus se leva, tança lèvent et les flots: ils s'apaisèrent, et le calme se fit.
They came to him and awoke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are dying!” He awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water; then they ceased, and it was calm.
25 Puis il dit à ses disciples: «où est votre foi?» Pour eux, saisis de frayeur et d'étonnement, ils se disaient les uns aux autres: «Quel est donc cet homme, qu'il commande aux vents et à l'eau, et qu'ils lui obéissent?»
He said to them, “Where is your faith?” Being afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, “Who is this then, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?”
26 Puis ils abordèrent au pays des Gadaréniens, qui est vis-à-vis de la Galilée.
Then they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.
27 Quand Jésus fut descendu à terre, il rencontra un homme de la ville, qui depuis longtemps était possédé des démons: il ne portait point de vêtement, et demeurait non dans une maison, mais dans les sépulcres.
When Jesus stepped ashore, a certain man out of the city who had demons for a long time met him. He wore no clothes, and did not live in a house, but in the tombs.
28 Dès qu'il vit Jésus, il poussa un cri, se jeta à ses pieds, et dit d'une voix forte: «Qu'y a-t-il entre toi et moi, Jésus, Fils du Dieu Très-Haut? Je t'en prie, ne me tourmente pas.»
When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, “What do I have to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me!”
29 Jésus, en effet, commandait à l'esprit impur de sortir de cet homme; car depuis longtemps l’esprit l'emportait avec lui: on avait beau le garder enchaîné et les fers aux pieds, il brisait ses liens et était entraîné par le démon dans les déserts.
For Jesus was commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For the unclean spirit had often seized the man. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bonds apart, he was driven by the demon into the desert.
30 Jésus lui demanda: «Quel est ton nom?» — «Légion, » répondit-il; en effet, plusieurs démons étaient entrés dans cet homme;
Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered into him.
31 et il se mit à supplier Jésus de ne point commander à ces démons d'aller dans l'abîme. (Abyssos g12)
They begged him that he would not command them to go into the Abyss (Abyssos g12).
32 Or, il y avait là un grand troupeau de pourceaux qui paissaient sur la montagne, et les démons le supplièrent de leur permettre d'aller dans ces pourceaux; et il le leur permit.
Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. Then he allowed them.
33 Étant donc sortis de cet homme, ils entrèrent dans les pourceaux, et le troupeau se rua du haut du précipice dans le lac, et se noya.
The demons came out of the man and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
34 A cette vue, les gardeurs s'enfuirent, et répandirent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans la campagne.
When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.
35 Les gens sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé; ils vinrent vers Jésus et trouvèrent l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis, assis à ses pieds, vêtu et dans son bon sens; ce qui les remplit de frayeur.
People went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
36 Les témoins de ce fait leur rapportèrent aussi comment le démoniaque avait été guéri.
Those who saw it told them how he who had been possessed by demons was healed.
37 Toute la population de la contrée voisine des Gadaréniens le pria de s'éloigner de chez eux, parce qu'ils étaient en proie à une grande frayeur: Jésus étant entré dans la barque, s'en retourna.
All the people of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were very much afraid. Then he entered into the boat and returned.
38 L'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis, lui demanda de rester avec lui, mais Jésus le renvoya en lui disant:
But the man from whom the demons had gone out begged him that he might go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 «Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte tout ce que Dieu a fait pour toi.» Il s'en alla, et publia par toute la ville tout ce que Jésus avait fait pour lui.
“Return to your house, and declare what great things God has done for you.” He went his way, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.
40 A son retour, Jésus fut accueilli par la foule; car ils étaient tous à l'attendre.
When Jesus returned, the multitude welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him.
41 Alors il vint un homme nommé Jaïrus, chef de la synagogue, qui, se jetant aux pieds de Jésus, le supplia de venir dans sa maison,
Behold, a man named Jairus came. He was a ruler of the synagogue. He fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged him to come into his house,
42 parce qu'il avait une fille unique, d'environ douze ans, qui se mourait. Pendant que Jésus s'y acheminait, la foule le serrait à l'étouffer.
for he had an only born daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went, the multitudes pressed against him.
43 Et une femme qui était atteinte d'une hémorragie depuis douze ans, et qui avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, sans qu'aucun d'eux eût pu la guérir,
A woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her living on physicians and could not be healed by any,
44 s'approcha par derrière, toucha la houppe de son manteau, et au même instant son hémorragie s'arrêta.
came behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak. Immediately the flow of her blood stopped.
45 Et Jésus dit: «Qui est-ce qui m'a touché?» Comme tous s'en défendaient, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui, dirent: «Maître, la foule t'entoure et te presse, et tu demandes qui t'a touché!»
Jesus said, “Who touched me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes press and jostle you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”
46 Mais Jésus répondit: «Quelqu'un m'a touché, car j'ai senti une vertu sortir de moi.»
But Jesus said, “Someone did touch me, for I perceived that power has gone out of me.”
47 La femme voyant qu'elle n'était pas restée inaperçue, vint toute tremblante se jeter aux pieds de Jésus, et déclara devant tout le monde, pour quelle cause elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été guérie à l'instant.
When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before him declared to him in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 Jésus lui dit: «Ma fille, ta foi t'a guérie: va en paix.»
He said to her, “Daughter, cheer up. Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
49 Il parlait encore, lorsqu'on vint de chez Jaïrus dire à ce chef de la synagogue: «Ta fille est morte, ne fatigue pas le Maître.»
While he still spoke, one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house came, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”
50 Mais Jésus, qui avait entendu cette parole, lui dit: «Ne crains point, crois seulement, et elle sera guérie.»
But Jesus hearing it, answered him, “Do not be afraid. Only believe, and she will be healed.”
51 Lorsqu'il fut arrivé à la maison, il ne laissa entrer personne avec lui, si ce n'est Pierre, Jean, Jacques, avec le père et la mère de l'enfant.
When he came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter in, except Peter, John, James, the father of the child, and her mother.
52 Comme tous pleuraient et se lamentaient, Jésus leur dit: «Ne pleurez pas; elle n'est pas morte, mais elle dort.»
All were weeping and mourning her, but he said, “Do not weep. She is not dead, but sleeping.”
53 Et ils se moquèrent de lui, sachant qu'elle était morte.
They were ridiculing him, knowing that she was dead.
54 Mais lui, la saisissant par la main, dit en élevant la voix: «Enfant, lève-toi.»
But he put them all outside, and taking her by the hand, he called, saying, “Child, arise!”
55 La respiration lui revint, et elle se leva à l'instant; et Jésus commanda qu'on lui donnât à manger.
Her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately. He commanded that something be given to her to eat.
56 Les parents de la jeune fille furent dans le ravissement, et Jésus leur recommanda de ne dire à personne ce qui venait de se passer.
Her parents were amazed, but he commanded them to tell no one what had been done.
