1 «En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui n'entre pas par la porte dans la bergerie, mais qui l'escalade par un autre endroit, est un voleur et un brigand;
Verily, verily I say unto you, He that entreth not into the sheep-fold by the door, but climbeth up some other way, is a thief and a robber.
2 mais celui qui entre par la porte, est un berger des brebis.
But he that cometh in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 Le portier lui ouvre, et les brebis entendent sa voix; il appelle ses brebis par leur nom, et il les conduit dehors:
To him the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice; and He calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 dès qu'il a fait sortir toutes les siennes, il va devant elles, et les brebis le suivent, parce qu'elles connaissent sa voix.
And when he bringeth forth his sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him; because they know his voice.
5 Elles ne suivront point un étranger, mais elles le fuiront, parce qu'elles ne connaissent point la voix des étrangers.»
But they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him; because they know not the voice of strangers.
6 Jésus leur fit cette allégorie, mais ils ne comprirent pas de quoi il leur parlait.
This parable Jesus spake unto them; but they did not understand what He said to them.
7 Jésus reprit et leur dit: «En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, je suis la porte des brebis:
Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily I tell you, that I am the door of the sheep.
8 tous ceux qui sont venus avant moi sont des voleurs et des brigands; mais les brebis ne les ont point écoutés.
All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not regard them.
9 Je suis la porte: si quelqu'un entre par moi, il sera sauvé; il entrera et il sortira, et il trouvera de la pâture.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved; and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 Le voleur ne vient que pour voler, pour égorger et pour détruire; moi, je suis venu pour que les brebis aient la vie, et qu'elles l'aient abondamment.
The thief cometh only to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they may have life, and may have it in perfection.
11 Je suis le bon berger: le bon berger donne sa vie pour ses brebis;
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.
12 mais le mercenaire, qui n'est pas berger, à qui les brebis n'appartiennent pas en propre, ne voit pas plutôt venir le loup, qu'il abandonne les brebis, et s'enfuit: le loup les ravit, et disperse le troupeau.
But the hireling, that is not the true shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf seizeth them, and disperseth the sheep.
13 Le mercenaire s'enfuit, parce qu'il est mercenaire, et qu'il n'a nul souci des brebis.
Now the hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 Je suis le bon berger: je connais mes brebis et mes brebis me connaissent,
I am the good shepherd, and I know my own sheep, and am known by them.
15 comme le Père me connaît et que je connais le Père; et je donne ma vie pour mes brebis.
Even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 J'ai encore d'autres brebis, qui ne sont pas de cette bergerie; il faut aussi que je les conduise: elles entendront ma voix; et il y aura un seul troupeau, un seul berger.
And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they will hear my voice; so there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Mon Père m'aime, parce que je donne ma vie, afin de la reprendre;
For this doth the Father love me; because I lay down my life: that I may take it again.
18 personne ne me l'ôte, mais je la donne de moi-même; j'ai le pouvoir de la donner, et j'ai le pouvoir de la reprendre: tel est l'ordre que j'ai reçu de mon Père.»
None taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have received from my Father.
19 Ces paroles provoquèrent une nouvelle division parmi les Juifs.
There was a division therefore again among the Jews on account of these words.
20 Un grand nombre d'entre eux disaient: «Il est possédé d'un démon, il déraisonne: pourquoi l'écoutez-vous?»
And many of them said, He is a demoniac, and is mad; why do ye hear Him?
21 D'autres disaient: «Ces paroles ne sont point celles d'un possédé: est-ce qu'un démon peut ouvrir les yeux des aveugles?»
Others said, These are not the words of a demoniac; can a demon open the eyes of the blind?
22 Or, on célébrait à Jérusalem la fête de la Dédicace: c'était l'hiver;
Now it was the feast of dedication at Jerusalem, and it was winter.
23 et Jésus se promenait dans le temple, sous le portique de Salomon.
And Jesus was walking about the temple, in Solomon's portico.
24 Les Juifs l'entourèrent donc, et lui dirent: «Jusques à quand nous tiendras-tu l'esprit en suspens? Si tu es le Messie, dis-le nous franchement.»
Then the Jews came round Him, and said unto Him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou be the Messiah, tell us plainly.
25 Jésus leur répondit: «Je vous l'ai dit, et vous ne le croyez pas: les oeuvres que je fais au nom de mon Père, rendent témoignage de moi;
Jesus answered them, I have told you, and ye do not believe me: though the works that I do in the name of my Father, testify of me.
26 mais vous ne croyez point, parce que vous n'êtes pus de mes brebis,
But ye believe not; because ye are not of my sheep: for as I said unto you, my sheep hear my voice,
27 comme je vous l'ai dit. Mes brebis entendent ma voix; je les connais, et elles me suivent;
and I know them, and they follow me.
29 Mon Père, qui me les a données, est plus grand que tous; et personne ne peut les ravir de la main de mon Père.
My Father who gave them to me, is greater than all: and therefore none is able to force them out of my Father's hand.
30 Le Père et moi, nous ne faisons qu'un.»
I and the Father are one. Then the Jews again took up stones to stone Him.
31 Là-dessus, les Juifs ramassèrent de nouveau des pierres pour le lapider.
But Jesus said unto them,
32 Jésus leur dit: «J'ai fait sous vos yeux plusieurs bonnes oeuvres, par la puissance de mon Père; pour laquelle me lapidez-vous?»
Many good works have I shewn you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 Les Juifs lui répondirent: «Ce n'est point pour une bonne oeuvre que nous te lapidons, mais pour un blasphème, et parce qu'étant homme, tu te fais dieu.»
The Jews answered Him, saying, We do not go about to stone thee for a good work, but for blasphemy; and because thou being a man makest thyself God.
34 Jésus leur repartit: «N'est-il pas écrit dans votre Loi: «J'ai dit: Vous êtes des dieux?»
Jesus replied, Is it not written in your law, "I have said, ye are gods?"
35 Si donc la Loi appelle «dieux» ceux à qui la parole de Dieu a été adressée, et si l'Écriture ne peut être rejetée,
And if it stiled them gods, to whom the word of God came, (and the scripture cannot be made void, )
36 comment pouvez-vous dire à celui que le Père a consacré et qu'il a envoyé dans le monde, «tu blasphèmes, » parce que j'ai dit: «Je suis le Fils de Dieu?»
do ye say of Him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 Si je ne fais pas les oeuvres de mon Père, ne me croyez pas;
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 mais si je les fais, quand même vous ne me croiriez pas, croyez-en mes oeuvres; reconnaissez et sachez que le Père est en moi, et que je suis dans le Père.»
But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in Him.
39 Alors les Juifs cherchèrent de nouveau à se saisir de lui; mais il s 'échappa de leurs mains,
Therefore they sought again to seize Him; but He escaped out of their hand, and went away again beyond Jordan,
40 et s'en retourna au delà du Jourdain, dans le lieu où Jean avait baptisé tout d'abord, et il y demeura.
to the place where John was at first baptizing, and there He abode.
41 Bien des gens venaient vers lui, et disaient: «Jean n'a point fait de miracles, mais tout ce qu'il a dit de celui-ci est vrai.»
And many resorted to Him, and said, John wrought no miracle, but all that he said concerning this man, was true.
42 Et il y eu eut là beaucoup qui crurent en lui.
And many there believed on Him.
