Actes 18
1 Ensuite Paul partit d'Athènes et se rendit à Corinthe.
And after these things, Paul having departed out of Athens, came to Corinth,
2 Il y trouva un Juif nommé Aquilas, originaire du Pont, fraîchement arrivé d'Italie avec Priscille, sa femme, parce que Claude avait enjoint à tous les Juifs de quitter Rome. Paul alla les voir,
and having found a certain Jew, by name Aquilas, of Pontus by birth, lately come from Italy, and his wife Priscilla—because of Claudius having directed all the Jews to depart out of Rome—he came to them,
3 et, comme il était du même métier, il demeura chez eux et y travailla: ils étaient faiseurs de tentes.
and because of being of the same craft, he remained with them, and was working, for they were tentmakers as to craft;
4 Tous les jours de sabbat, il discourait dans la synagogue, et persuadait Juifs et Grecs.
and he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath, persuading both Jews and Greeks.
5 Quand Silas et Timothée arrivèrent de Macédoine, Paul était tout entier à la Parole, ne cessant d'enseigner aux Juifs, que Jésus était le Messie.
And when both Silas and Timotheus came down from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the Spirit, testifying fully to the Jews Jesus the Christ;
6 Mais comme ils s'opposaient et se portaient à des injures, il secoua ses vêtements, et leur dit: «Que votre sang retombe sur votre tête! pour moi, j'en suis net; désormais j'irai vers les Gentils.»
and on their resisting and slandering, having shaken [his] garments, he said to them, “Your blood [is] on your head—I am clean; from now on I will go on to the nations.”
7 Puis il sortit de ce lieu et se retira chez un nommé Justus, homme craignant Dieu, dont la maison était contiguë à la synagogue.
And having departed from there, he went to the house of a certain one, by name Justus, a worshiper of God, whose house was adjoining the synagogue,
8 Crispus, président de la synagogue, crut au Seigneur avec toute sa famille. Un grand nombre aussi de Corinthiens embrassèrent la foi en entendant Paul, et se firent baptiser.
and Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue believed in the LORD with all his house, and many of the Corinthians hearing were believing, and they were being immersed.
9 Le Seigneur dit à Paul, la nuit, dans une vision: «Ne crains point, mais parle; ne garde point le silence,
And the LORD said through a vision in the night to Paul, “Do not be afraid, but be speaking and you may not be silent;
10 car je suis avec toi, et personne ne t'attaquera de manière à te maltraiter. J'ai un grand peuple dans cette ville.»
because I am with you, and no one will set on you to do evil [to] you, because I have many people in this city”;
11 Et Paul résida un an et demi à Corinthe, y enseignant la parole de Dieu.
and he continued a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
12 Un jour, les Juifs se jetèrent tous ensemble sur lui, et le menèrent devant le tribunal de Gallion qui était alors proconsul d'Achaïe.
And Gallio being proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a rush with one accord on Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
13 «Cet homme, dirent-ils, persuade aux gens d'adorer Dieu d'une manière contraire à la Loi.»
saying, “This one persuades men to worship God against the Law”;
14 Comme Paul se disposait à parler, Gallion dit aux Juifs: «S'il s'agissait de quelque délit ou de quelque acte frauduleux, je vous entendrais patiemment, comme de raison;
and Paul being about to open [his] mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If, indeed, then, it was anything unrighteous, or an act of wicked recklessness, O Jews, according to reason I had borne with you,
15 mais puisqu'il s'agit de disputes sur une parole, sur des noms propres, et sur votre Loi, vous y aviserez vous-mêmes: je ne veux pas être juge de ces choses-là.»
but if it is a question concerning words and names, and of your law, look [to it] yourselves, for I do not intend to be a judge of these things,”
16 Et il les fit sortir du tribunal.
and he drives them from the judgment seat;
17 Alors tous ayant saisi Sosthènes, président de la synagogue, le battirent devant le tribunal, sans que Gallion s'en mît en peine.
and all the Greeks having taken Sosthenes, the chief man of the synagogue, were beating [him] before the judgment seat, and Gallio was not even caring for these things.
18 Après être demeuré assez longtemps encore à Corinthe, Paul fit ses adieux aux frères, et s'embarqua pour la Syrie avec Priscille et Aquilas; il se fit auparavant raser la tête à Cenchrées à cause d’un voeu qu'il avait fait.
And Paul having remained yet a good many days, having taken leave of the brothers, was sailing to Syria—and with him [are] Priscilla and Aquilas—having shorn [his] head in Cenchera, for he had a vow;
19 Ils arrivèrent à Éphèse, et Paul y laissa ses compagnons. Pour lui, étant entré dans la synagogue, il s'entretint avec les Juifs.
and he came down to Ephesus, and left them there, and he himself having entered into the synagogue reasoned with the Jews:
20 Ceux-ci le prièrent de prolonger son séjour parmi eux, mais il n'y consentit point,
and they having requested [him] to remain a longer time with them, he did not consent,
21 et leur fit ses adieux en disant: «Il faut absolument que je célèbre la fête prochaine à Jérusalem, mais je reviendrai vers vous, s'il plaît à Dieu; » et il partit d'Éphèse.
but took leave of them, saying, “It is necessary for me by all means to keep the coming celebration at Jerusalem, and again I will return to you—God willing.” And he sailed from Ephesus,
22 Etant débarqué à Césarée, il monta à Jérusalem, et, après avoir salué l'église, il se rendit à Antioche.
and having come down to Caesarea, having gone up, and having greeted the assembly, he went down to Antioch.
23 Lorsqu'il y eut passé quelque temps, il partit et parcourut successivement la Galatie et la Phrygie, affermissant tous les disciples.
And having stayed some time, he went forth, going successively through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.
24 Or un Juif nommé Apollos, originaire d'Alexandrie, homme éloquent et très versé dans les Écritures, était venu à Éphèse.
And a certain Jew, Apollos by name, an Alexandrian by birth, a man of eloquence, being mighty in the Writings, came to Ephesus;
25 Il était instruit de la voie du Seigneur, et, dans la ferveur de son âme, il expliquait et enseignait avec exactitude ce qui se rapporte à Jésus, quoiqu'il n'eût connaissance que du baptême de Jean.
this one was instructed in the way of the LORD, and being fervent in the Spirit, was speaking and teaching exactly the things about the LORD, knowing only the immersion of John;
26 Il se mit à parler hardiment dans la synagogue: Aquilas et Priscille l'ayant entendu, le prirent avec eux, et lui exposèrent plus exactement la voie de Dieu.
this one also began to speak boldly in the synagogue, and Aquilas and Priscilla having heard of him, took him to [them], and more exactly set forth to him The Way of God,
27 Comme il voulait aller en Achaïe, les frères écrivirent aux disciples pour les engager à le recevoir. Quand il y fut arrivé, il fut d'un grand secours, par ses talents, à ceux qui avaient embrassé la foi,
and he resolving to go through into Achaia, the brothers wrote to the disciples, having exhorted them to receive him, who having come, helped them much who have believed through grace,
28 car il réfutait vigoureusement les Juifs, en public, démontrant par les Écritures que Jésus est le Messie.
for he was powerfully refuting the Jews publicly, showing through the Writings Jesus to be the Christ.
