1 Corinthiens 1

1 Paul, élu apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et Sosthènes notre frère,

Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,

2 aux fidèles sanctifiés en Jésus-Christ, les élus saints de l’église de Dieu qui est à Corinthe, et à tous ceux qui, en tout lieu, invoquent le nom de Jésus-Christ, leur Seigneur et le nôtre:

to the Assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called holy ones, with all those calling on the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place—both theirs and ours:

3 que la grâce et la paix vous soient donnée par Dieu notre Père, et par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ!

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

4 Je ne cesse de bénir mon Dieu de la grâce qu'il vous a faite en Jésus-Christ:

I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,

5 il vous a comblés en lui de toutes sortes de richesses, richesses de parole et richesses de science,

that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all discourse and all knowledge,

6 par la manière dont le témoignage de Christ a été solidement établi parmi vous;

according as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

7 de sorte que vous ne manquez d'aucun don, en attendant la venue de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

so that you are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 Il vous affermira jusqu'à la fin, pour que vous soyez sans reproche au jour de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ:

who also will confirm you to the end—unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;

9 Dieu, qui vous a appelés à la communion de son Fils Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur, est fidèle.

faithful [is] God, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Je vous conjure, mes frères, au nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, d'avoir tous un même langage. Qu'il n'y ait point de divisions parmi vous, mais soyez bien unis dans un même esprit et dans une même pensée;

And I call on you, brothers, through the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing you may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and you may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,

11 car, mes frères, j'ai appris par les gens de Chloé, qu'il y a des disputes parmi vous.

for it was signified to me concerning you, my brothers, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;

12 J'entends par là que chacun dit: «Moi, je suis à Paul; — moi, à Apollos; — moi, à Céphas; — moi, à Christ.»

and I say this, that each one of you says, “I, indeed, am of Paul,” and “I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ.”

13 Est-ce que Christ est divisé? Est-ce que Paul a été crucifié pour vous? Est-ce au nom de Paul que vous avez été baptisés?

Has the Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you immersed into the name of Paul?

14 Je bénis Dieu de ce que je n'ai baptisé aucun d'entre vous, si ce n'est Crispus et Caïus,

I give thanks to God that I immersed no one of you, except Crispus and Gaius—

15 pour que l'on ne puisse pas dire que vous avez été baptisés en mon nom.

that no one may say that to my own name I immersed;

16 J'ai encore baptisé la famille de Stephanas; du reste, personne d'autre, que je sache.

and I also immersed Stephanas’ household—further, I have not known if I immersed any other.

17 Christ ne m'a pas envoyé pour baptiser, mais pour prêcher l'évangile, et pour le prêcher sans la sagesse, ni l'art de la parole, afin de ne pas ôter sa puissance à la croix de Christ.

For Christ did not send me to immerse, but to proclaim good news, not in wisdom of discourse, that the Cross of the Christ may not be made of no effect;

18 La prédication de la croix est, en effet, une folie pour ceux qui périssent; pour ceux qui sont sauvés, pour nous, elle est la puissance de Dieu;

for the word of the Cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us—those being saved—it is the power of God,

19 car il est écrit: «Je perdrai la sagesse des sages, et j'anéantirai la science des savants.»

for it has been written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nothing”;

20 où est le sage? où est le scribe? où est le dialecticien de ce siècle? Dieu n'a-t-il pas fait voir que la sagesse du monde est folie? (aiōn g165)

where [is] the wise? Where the scribe? Where a disputer of this age? Did God not make foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)

21 Car le monde, avec sa sagesse, n'ayant pas su connaître Dieu dans la sagesse de ses autres, il a plu à Dieu de sauver les croyants par la folie de la prédication.

For seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.

22 Les Juifs demandent des miracles; les Grecs recherchent la sagesse;

Since also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,

23 pour nous, nous prêchons Christ crucifié, qui est scandale aux Juifs, folie aux Gentils,

also we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,

24 mais qui, pour les élus, soit juifs, soit grecs, est Christ, puissance de Dieu et sagesse de Dieu;

and to those called—both Jews and Greeks—Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,

25 car la folie de Dieu est plus sage que les hommes, et la faiblesse de Dieu, plus forte que les hommes.

because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;

26 Vous voyez bien, mes frères, que parmi vous, élus, il n'y a pas beaucoup de sages selon la chair, pas beaucoup de puissants, pas beaucoup de nobles.

for see your calling, brothers, that not many [are] wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

27 Dieu a choisi les choses folles du monde, pour confondre les sages; il a choisi les choses faibles du monde, pour confondre les fortes;

but God chose the foolish things of the world that He may put the wise to shame; and God chose the weak things of the world that He may put the strong to shame;

28 il a choisi celles qui sont de basse extraction dans ce monde, les méprisées, ce qui est néant, pour anéantir ce qui est,

and God chose the base things of the world, and the things despised, and the things that are not, that He may make useless the things that are—

29 afin que personne ne se glorifie en sa présence.

that no flesh may glory before Him;

30 C'est à lui que vous devez d'être en Jésus-Christ, qui a été fait sagesse pour nous par la volonté de Dieu, ainsi que justice, sanctification et délivrance;

but out of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,

31 afin, comme il est écrit, que «celui qui se glorifie, se glorifie dans le Seigneur.»

that, according as it has been written: “He who is glorying—let him glory in the LORD.”
