Zacharie 3

1 Puis [l'Eternel] me fit voir Jéhosuah, le grand Sacrificateur, se tenant debout devant l'Ange de l'Eternel; et Satan qui se tenait debout à sa droite, pour le contrarier.

Then [Yahweh] showed me Joshua, the Supreme Priest, [who was] standing in front of the angel that Yahweh had sent. And Satan was standing at Joshua’s right side, [ready] to accuse him.

2 Et l'Eternel dit à Satan: Que l'Eternel te tance [rudement], ô Satan! Que l'Eternel, dis-je, qui a élu Jérusalem, te tance [rudement!] N'est-ce pas ici ce tison [qui a été] retiré du feu?

But Yahweh said to Satan, “Satan, I am rebuking you! I [am the one] who has chosen Jerusalem [to be my special city, and I] am rebuking you! This [man, Joshua], [has been brought back from Babylonia]; he is surely [like] [MET, RHQ] a burning stick that has been snatched from a fire.”

3 Or Jéhosuah était vêtu de vêtements sales, et il se tenait debout devant l'Ange.

Joshua was wearing filthy clothes while he was standing in front of the angel.

4 Et [l’Ange] prit la parole, et dit à ceux qui étaient debout devant lui: Otez de dessus lui ces vêtements sales. Et il dit à [Jéhosuah]: Regarde, j'ai fait passer de dessus toi ton iniquité, et je t'ai vêtu de nouveaux vêtements.

The angel said to those [other angels] who were standing in front of him, “Take off his filthy clothes!” [After they did that, ] the angel said to Joshua, “Look! I have taken away [the guilt of] your sins, and I will put beautiful clothes on you.”

5 Et je dis: Qu'on lui mette une tiare nette sur sa tête; et on lui mit sur la tête une tiare nette; puis on le vêtit de vêtements, et l'Ange de l'Eternel était présent.

Then I said to them, “Put a clean turban on his head!” So they put a clean turban on his head and put [new] on him, while the angel sent by Yahweh was standing there.

6 Alors l'Ange de l'Eternel protesta à Jéhosuah, en disant:

Then the angel said [this] to Joshua:

7 Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées: Si tu marches dans mes voies, et que tu observes ce que je veux qui soit observé, tu auras la juridiction de ma maison, et tu garderas mes parvis, et je ferai que tu marcheras parmi ces assistants.

“The Commander of the armies of angels says that if you do what I want you to do [IDM], and obey my instructions, you will (be in charge of/have authority over) [what is done in] my temple and its courtyard. And I will allow you to speak at any time to the angels who are standing near to me.

8 Ecoute maintenant, Jéhosuah, grand Sacrificateur, toi, et tes compagnons qui sont assis devant toi, parce que ce sont des gens qu'on tient pour des monstres, certainement voici, je m'en vais faire venir Germe, mon serviteur.

Joshua, [you are] the Supreme Priest, and your (associates/fellow priests) are sitting in front of you. They symbolize/represent things that will happen in the future. [Some day] I am going to bring someone who will work for me, someone who will be called the Branch.

9 Car voici, [quant à] la pierre que j'ai mise devant Jéhosuah, sur [cette] pierre, qui n'est qu'une, il y a sept yeux. Voici, je m'en vais graver sa gravure, dit l'Eternel des armées, et j'ôterai en un jour l'iniquité de ce pays.

Look at the stone that I have put in front of Joshua. There are seven sides on the stone. I will engrave a message on that stone, and in one day I will remove the guilt of [all the people of] this country.

10 En ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel des armées, chacun de vous appellera son prochain sous la vigne et sous le figuier.

At that time, each of you will invite his friends [to come and sit] under his grapevine and under his fig tree. [That is what] the Commander of the armies of angels declares.”
