Psaumes 91

1 Celui qui se tient dans la demeure du Souverain, se loge à l'ombre du Tout-Puissant.

Who so dwelleth in the secrete of the most High, shall abide in the shadowe of the Almightie.

2 Je dirai à l'Eternel: Tu es ma retraite, et ma forteresse, tu es mon Dieu en qui je m'assure.

I will say vnto the Lord, O mine hope, and my fortresse: he is my God, in him will I trust.

3 Certes il te délivrera du filet du chasseur; [et] de la mortalité malheureuse.

Surely he will deliuer thee from the snare of the hunter, and from the noysome pestilence.

4 Il te couvrira de ses plumes, et tu auras retraite sous ses ailes; sa vérité [te servira de] rondache et de bouclier.

Hee will couer thee vnder his winges, and thou shalt be sure vnder his feathers: his trueth shall be thy shielde and buckler.

5 Tu n'auras point peur de ce qui épouvante de nuit, ni de la flèche qui vole de jour.

Thou shalt not be afraide of the feare of the night, nor of the arrowe that flyeth by day:

6 Ni de la mortalité qui marche dans les ténèbres; ni de la destruction qui fait le dégât en plein midi.

Nor of the pestilence that walketh in the darkenesse: nor of the plague that destroyeth at noone day.

7 Il en tombera mille à ton côté, et dix mille à ta droite; mais la [destruction] n'approchera point de toi.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and tenne thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come neere thee.

8 Seulement tu contempleras de tes yeux, et tu verras la récompense des méchants.

Doubtlesse with thine eyes shalt thou beholde and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Car tu es ma retraite, ô Eternel! tu as établi le Souverain pour ton domicile.

For thou hast said, The Lord is mine hope: thou hast set the most High for thy refuge.

10 Aucun mal ne te rencontrera, et aucune plaie n'approchera de ta tente.

There shall none euill come vnto thee, neither shall any plague come neere thy tabernacle.

11 Car il donnera charge de toi à ses Anges, afin qu'ils te gardent en toutes tes voies.

For hee shall giue his Angels charge ouer thee to keepe thee in all thy wayes.

12 Ils te porteront dans leurs mains, de peur que ton pied ne heurte contre la pierre.

They shall beare thee in their handes, that thou hurt not thy foote against a stone.

13 Tu marcheras sur le lion et sur l'aspic, [et] tu fouleras le lionceau et le dragon.

Thou shalt walke vpon the lyon and aspe: the yong lyon and the dragon shalt thou treade vnder feete.

14 Puisqu'il m'aime avec affection, [dit le Seigneur], je le délivrerai; je le mettrai en une haute retraite, parce qu'il connaît mon Nom.

Because he hath loued me, therefore will I deliuer him: I will exalt him because hee hath knowen my Name.

15 Il m'invoquera, et je l'exaucerai; je serai avec lui dans la détresse, je l'en retirerai, et le glorifierai.

He shall call vpon me, and I wil heare him: I will be with him in trouble: I will deliuer him, and glorifie him.

16 Je le rassasierai de jours, et je lui ferai voir ma délivrance.

With long life wil I satisfie him, and shew him my saluation.
