Psaumes 33
1 Vous justes, chantez de joie à cause de l'Eternel; sa louange est bienséante aux hommes droits.
Be joyful, O ye righteous, in the Lord; [for] unto the righteous praise is comely.
2 Célébrez l'Eternel avec le violon, chantez-lui des Psaumes avec la musette, et l'instrument à dix cordes.
Give thanks unto the Lord with the harp: with the ten-stringed psaltery do ye sing [praises] unto him.
3 Chantez-lui un nouveau Cantique, touchez adroitement [vos instruments de musique] avec un cri de réjouissance.
Sing unto him a new song; play beautifully amidst a triumphant shout.
4 Car la parole de l'Eternel est pure, et toutes ses œuvres sont avec fermeté.
For the word of the Lord is upright; and all his works [are done] in truth.
5 Il aime la justice et la droiture; la terre est remplie de la gratuité de l'Eternel.
He loveth righteousness and justice: the earth is full of the kindness of the Lord.
6 Les cieux ont été faits par la parole de l'Eternel, et toute leur armée par le souffle de sa bouche.
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
7 Il assemble les eaux de la mer comme en un monceau, il met les abîmes [comme] dans des céliers.
He gathereth together like heaps the waters of the sea: he layeth up in store-houses the depths [of the sea].
8 Que toute la terre craigne l'Eternel, que tous les habitants de la terre habitable le redoutent.
Let all the earth fear the Lord: of him stand in awe all the inhabitants of the world.
9 Car il a dit, et [ce qu'il a dit] a eu son être, il a commandé, et la chose a comparu.
For he spoke, and it came into being: he commanded, and it stood fast.
10 L'Eternel dissipe le conseil des nations, il anéantit les desseins des peuples;
The Lord frustrateth the resolves of the nations: he bringeth to nought the thoughts of the people.
11 [Mais] le conseil de l'Eternel se soutient à toujours; les desseins de son cœur subsistent d'âge en âge.
The counsel of the Lord will stand for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
12 Ô! que bienheureuse est la nation dont l'Eternel est le Dieu, [et] le peuple qu'il s'est choisi pour héritage!
Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he hath chosen for himself as a heritage.
13 L'Eternel regarde des Cieux, il voit tous les enfants des hommes.
The Lord looketh from heaven; he seeth all the sons of men.
14 Il prend garde du lieu de sa résidence à tous les habitants de la terre.
From the place of his habitation he directeth his view upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
15 C'est lui qui forme également leur cœur, et qui prend garde à toutes leurs actions.
He fashioneth their hearts altogether; he hath regard to all their works.
16 Le Roi n'est point sauvé par une grosse armée, et l'homme puissant n'échappe point par [sa] grande force.
The king is not saved by the multitude of an army: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
17 Le cheval manque à sauver, et ne délivre point par la grandeur de sa force.
Vain is the horse for victory: nor shall he deliver any by the greatness of his strength.
18 Voici, l'œil de l'Eternel est sur ceux qui le craignent, sur ceux qui s'attendent à sa gratuité.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon those that fear him, upon those that hope for his kindness.
19 Afin qu'il les délivre de la mort, et les entretienne en vie durant la famine.
To deliver from death their soul, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Notre âme s'est confiée en l'Eternel; il est notre aide et notre bouclier.
Our soul waiteth for the Lord: our help and our shield is he.
21 Certainement notre cœur se réjouira en lui, parce que nous avons mis notre assurance en son saint Nom.
For in him shall our heart rejoice: because in his holy name have we trusted.
22 Que ta gratuité soit sur nous, ô Eternel! selon que nous nous sommes confiés en toi
Let thy kindness, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in thee.
