Psaumes 139
1 Psaume de David, [donné] au maître chantre. Eternel, tu m'as sondé, et tu m'as connu.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known [me].
2 Tu connais quand je m'assieds et quand je me lève; tu aperçois de loin ma pensée.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Tu m'enceins, soit que je marche, soit que je m'arrête; et tu as accoutumé toutes mes voies.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted [with] all my ways.
4 Même avant que la parole soit sur ma langue, voici, ô Eternel! tu connais déjà le tout.
For [there is] not a word in my tongue, [but], lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Tu me tiens serré par derrière et par devant, et tu as mis sur moi ta main.
Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Ta science est trop merveilleuse pour moi, et elle est si haut élevée, que je n'y saurais atteindre.
[Such] knowledge [is] too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot [attain] unto it.
7 Où irai-je loin de ton Esprit; et où fuirai-je loin de ta face?
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou [art] there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou [art there]. (Sheol h7585)
9 Si je prends les ailes de l'aube du jour, [et] que je me loge au bout de la mer;
[If] I take the wings of the morning, [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Là même ta main me conduira, et ta droite m'y saisira.
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 Si je dis: au moins les ténèbres me couvriront; la nuit même sera une lumière tout autour de moi.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Même les ténèbres ne me cacheront point à toi, et la nuit resplendira comme le jour, [et] les ténèbres comme la lumière.
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light [are] both alike [to thee].
13 Or tu as possédé mes reins [dès-lors que] tu m'as enveloppé au ventre de ma mère.
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 Je te célébrerai de ce que j'ai été fait d'une si étrange et si admirable manière; tes œuvres sont merveilleuses, et mon âme le connaît très-bien.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.
15 L'agencement de mes os ne t'a point été caché, lorsque j'ai été fait en un lieu secret, et façonné comme de broderie dans les bas lieux de la terre.
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Tes yeux m'ont vu quand j'étais [comme] un peloton, et toutes ces choses s'écrivaient dans ton livre aux jours qu'elles se formaient, même lorsqu'il n'y en avait [encore] aucune.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them.
17 C'est pourquoi, ô [Dieu] Fort! combien me sont précieuses les considérations que j'ai de tes faits, et combien en est grand le nombre!
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 Les veux-je nombrer? elles sont en plus grand nombre que le sablon. Suis-je réveillé? je suis encore avec toi.
[If] I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
19 Ô Dieu! ne tueras-tu pas le méchant? c'est pourquoi, hommes sanguinaires, retirez-vous loin de moi.
Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20 Car ils ont parlé de toi, [en pensant] à quelque méchanceté; ils ont élevé tes ennemis en mentant.
For they speak against thee wickedly, [and] thine enemies take [thy name] in vain.
21 Eternel, n'aurais-je point en haine ceux qui te haïssent; et ne serais-je point irrité contre ceux qui s'élèvent contre toi?
Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 Je les ai haïs d'une parfaite haine; ils m'ont été pour ennemis.
I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
23 Ô [Dieu] Fort! sonde-moi, et considère mon cœur; éprouve-moi, et considère mes discours.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 Et regarde s'il y a en moi aucun dessein de chagriner autrui; et conduis-moi par la voie du monde.
And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
