Psaumes 104
1 Mon âme, bénis l'Eternel. Ô Eternel mon Dieu, tu es merveilleusement grand, tu es revêtu de majesté et de magnificence.
Bless, O my soul, Yahweh, —Yahweh, my God, thou art exceedingly great, With honour and majesty, hast thou clothed thyself,
2 Il s'enveloppe de lumière comme d'un vêtement, il étend les cieux comme un voile.
Putting on light, as a robe, Stretching out the heavens, as a curtain;
3 Il planchéie ses hautes chambres entre les eaux; il fait des grosses nuées son chariot, il se promène sur les ailes du vent.
Building, in the waters, his upper chambers, —Who maketh clouds his chariot, Who passeth along on the wings of the wind;
4 Il fait des vents ses Anges, et du feu brûlant ses serviteurs.
Making His messengers, winds, His attendants, a flaming fire;
5 Il a fondé la terre sur ses bases, tellement qu'elle ne sera point ébranlée à perpétuité.
He hath fixed the earth on its foundations, It is not to be shaken, to times age-abiding and beyond.
6 Tu l'avais couverte de l'abîme comme d'un vêtement, les eaux se tenaient sur les montagnes.
With the resounding deep—as a garment, hast thou covered it, Above the mountains, stand the waters;
7 Elles s'enfuirent à ta menace, [et] se mirent promptement en fuite au son de ton tonnerre.
At thy rebuke, they flee, At the voice of thy thunder, they hurry away;
8 Les montagnes s'élevèrent, et les vallées s'abaissèrent, au même lieu que tu leur avais établi.
Mountains rise, Valleys sink, Unto the place which thou hast fixed for them;
9 Tu leur as mis une borne qu'elles ne passeront point, elles ne retourneront plus à couvrir la terre.
Bounds, hast thou set, which they are not to pass over, They are not to return to cover the earth.
10 C'est lui qui conduit les fontaines par les vallées, tellement qu'elles se promènent entre les monts.
Who hast sent forth springs, through the torrent-beds, Between the mountains, they flow along;
11 Elles abreuvent toutes les bêtes des champs, les ânes sauvages en étanchent leur soif.
They give drink, to every wild beast of the field, The wild asses do break their thirst.
12 Les oiseaux des cieux se tiennent auprès d'elles, et font résonner leur voix d'entre la ramée.
Over them, the bird of the heavens settleth down, From amidst the foliage, they utter a voice.
13 Il abreuve les montagnes de ses chambres hautes; [et] la terre est rassasiée du fruit de tes œuvres.
Who watereth the mountains out of his upper chambers, Out of the fruit of thy works, thou satisfiest the earth.
14 Il fait germer le foin pour le bétail, et l'herbe pour le service de l'homme, faisant sortir le pain de la terre;
Who causeth the grass to shoot forth for the cattle, And the herb, for the service of man, That he may bring forth food out of the earth;
15 Et le vin qui réjouit le cœur de l'homme, qui fait reluire son visage avec l'huile, et qui soutient le cœur de l'homme avec le pain.
And, wine, may rejoice the heart of man, Making radiant his well-nourished face, —And, food, may, the heart of man, sustain.
16 Les hauts arbres en sont rassasiés, [et] les cèdres du Liban, qu'il a plantés,
Satisfied are, The trees of Yahweh, The cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
17 Afin que les oiseaux y fassent leurs nids. Quant à la cigogne, les sapins [sont sa demeure].
Where the birds build their nests, The stork, in the fir-trees, hath her house;
18 Les hautes montagnes sont pour les chamois [et] les rochers sont la retraite des lapins.
The high mountains, are for the chamois, The crags, are a refuge for the conies.
19 Il a fait la lune pour les saisons, et le soleil connaît son coucher.
He hath made the moon for seasons, And, the sun, knoweth his place for entering in.
20 Tu amènes les ténèbres, et la nuit vient, durant laquelle toutes les bêtes de la forêt trottent.
Thou causest darkness, and it becometh night, Therein, creepeth forth, Every wild beast of the forest;
21 Les lionceaux rugissent après la proie, et pour demander au [Dieu] Fort leur pâture.
The young lions, roaring for prey, And seeking, from GOD, their food.
22 Le soleil se lève-t-il? ils se retirent et demeurent gisants en leurs tanières.
The sun ariseth, they withdraw themselves, And, in their lairs, lay them down.
23 Alors l'homme sort à son ouvrage et à son travail, jusqu’au soir.
Man goeth forth to his work, And to his labour, until evening.
24 Ô Eternel, que tes œuvres sont en grand nombre! tu les as toutes faites avec sagesse; la terre est pleine de tes richesses.
How thy works abound, O Yahweh! All of them—in wisdom, hast thou made, The earth is full of thy possession: —
25 Cette mer grande et spacieuse, où il y a sans nombre des animaux se mouvant, des petites bêtes avec des grandes!
This sea here, is great and broad on both hands, —Wherein are creeping things, even without number, Living things, small with great;
26 Là se promènent les navires, et ce Léviathan que tu as formé pour s'y ébattre.
There, ships, sail along, This sea-monster, thou hast formed to sport therein;
27 Elles s'attendent toutes à toi, afin que tu leur donnes la pâture en leur temps.
All of them, for thee, do wait, That thou mayest give them their food in its season;
28 Quand tu la leur donnes, elles la recueillent, et quand tu ouvres ta main, elles sont rassasiées de biens.
Thou givest unto them, they gather, Thou openest thy hand, they are satisfied with good.
29 Caches-tu ta face? elles sont troublées; retires-tu leur souffle, elles défaillent, et retournent en leur poudre.
Thou hidest thy face, they are dismayed, Thou withdrawest their spirit, They cease to breathe, And, unto their own dust, do they return:
30 [Mais si] tu renvoies ton Esprit, elles sont créées, et tu renouvelles la face de la terre.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created, And thou renewest the face of the ground.
31 Que la gloire de l'Eternel soit à toujours, que l'Eternel se réjouisse en ses œuvres!
Be thy glory, O Yahweh, to times age-abiding, Let Yahweh rejoice in his own works:
32 Il jette sa vue sur la terre, et elle en tremble; il touche les montagnes, et elles en fument.
Who looketh at the earth, and it trembleth, He toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.
33 Je chanterai à l'Eternel durant ma vie; je psalmodierai à mon Dieu pendant que j'existerai.
I will sing to Yahweh, as long as I live! Yea I will touch the strings to my God, while I continue;
34 Ma méditation lui sera agréable; [et] je me réjouirai en l'Eternel.
Pleasing unto him, be my (meditation) I, will rejoice in Yahweh.
35 Que les pécheurs soient consumés de dessus la terre, et qu'il n'y ait plus de méchants! Mon âme, bénis l'Eternel; louez l'Eternel.
Sinners shall be consumed out of the earth And, the lawless, no more, shall exist, —Bless, O my soul, Yahweh, Praise ye Yah!
