Nombres 22
1 Puis les enfants d'Israël partirent, et campèrent dans les campagnes de Moab, au deçà du Jourdain de Jéricho.
And they set out [the] people of Israel and they encamped in [the] plains of Moab from [the] other side of [the] Jordan of Jericho.
2 Or Balac fils de Tsippor, vit toutes les choses qu'Israël avait faites à l'Amorrhéen;
And he saw Balak [the] son of Zippor all that it had done Israel to the Amorite[s].
3 Et Moab eut une grande frayeur du peuple, parce qu'il était en grand nombre; et il fut extrêmement agité à cause des enfants d'Israël.
And it was afraid Moab because of the people exceedingly for [was] numerous it and it felt dread Moab because of [the] people of Israel.
4 Et Moab dit aux Anciens de Madian: Maintenant cette multitude broutera tout ce qui est autour de nous, comme le bœuf broute l'herbe du champ. Or en ce temps-là Balac, fils de Tsippor, était Roi de Moab.
And it said Moab to [the] elders of Midian now they will lick up the company all around us as licks up the ox [the] greenery of the field and Balak [the] son of Zippor [was] king of Moab at the time that.
5 Lequel envoya des messagers à Balaam, fils de Béhor, en Péthor, située sur le fleuve, dans le pays des enfants de son peuple, pour l'appeler, en lui disant: Voici, un peuple est sorti d'Egypte; voici, il couvre le dessus de la terre, et il se tient campé tout proche de moi.
And he sent messengers to Balaam [the] son of Beor Pethor towards which [was] at the river [the] land of [the] sons of people his to summon him saying here! a people it has come out from Egypt here! it has covered [the] eye of the land and it [is] dwelling from in front of me.
6 Viens donc maintenant, je te prie, maudis-moi ce peuple, car il est plus puissant que moi; peut-être que je serai le plus fort, et que nous le battrons, et que je le chasserai du pays; car je sais que celui que tu béniras, sera béni; et que celui que tu maudiras sera maudit.
And therefore come! please curse! for me the people this for [is too] mighty it for me perhaps I will be able to strike it and I will drive out it from the land for I know [the one] whom you bless [is] blessed and [the one] whom you curse he is cursed.
7 Les Anciens donc de Moab s'en allèrent avec les Anciens de Madian, ayant en leurs mains de quoi payer le devin, et ils vinrent à Balaam, et lui rapportèrent les paroles de Balac.
And they went [the] elders of Moab and [the] elders of Midian and divinations [were] in hand their and they came to Balaam and they spoke to him [the] words of Balak.
8 Et il leur répondit: Demeurez ici cette nuit, et je vous rendrai réponse selon que l'Eternel m'aura parlé. Et les Seigneurs des Moabites demeurèrent avec Balaam.
And he said to them lodge here this night and I will bring back you word just as he will speak Yahweh to me and they remained [the] leaders of Moab with Balaam.
9 Et Dieu vint à Balaam, et dit: Qui sont ces hommes-là que tu as chez toi?
And he came God to Balaam and he said who? [are] the men these with you.
10 Et Balaam répondit à Dieu: Balac, fils de Tsippor, Roi de Moab, a envoyé vers moi, [en disant]:
And he said Balaam to God Balak [the] son of Zippor [the] king of Moab he sent to me.
11 Voici un peuple qui est sorti d'Egypte, et qui a couvert le dessus de la terre; viens [donc] maintenant, maudis-le moi; peut-être que je le pourrai combattre, et que je le chasserai.
Here! the people which has come out from Egypt and it has covered [the] eye of the land now come! curse! for me it perhaps I will be able to engage in battle against it and I will drive out it.
12 Et Dieu dit à Balaam: Tu n'iras point avec eux et tu ne maudiras point ce peuple; car il est béni.
And he said God to Balaam not you will go with them not you will curse the people for [is] blessed it.
13 Et Balaam s'étant levé dès le matin, dit aux Seigneurs qui avaient été envoyés par Balac: Retournez dans votre pays; car l'Eternel a refusé de me laisser aller avec vous.
And he arose Balaam in the morning and he said to [the] leaders of Balak go to land your for he has refused Yahweh to permit me to go with you.
14 Ainsi les Seigneurs des Moabites se levèrent, et revinrent à Balac, et dirent: Balaam a refusé de venir avec nous.
And they arose [the] leaders of Moab and they went to Balak and they said he has refused Balaam to come with us.
15 Et Balac envoya encore des Seigneurs en plus grand nombre, et plus honorables que les premiers.
And he repeated again Balak to send leaders many and honored more than these.
16 Qui étant venus à Balaam, lui dirent: Ainsi a dit Balac, fils de Tsippor: Je te prie, que rien ne t'empêche de venir vers moi;
And they came to Balaam and they said to him thus he says Balak [the] son of Zippor do not please let yourself be restrained from coming to me.
17 Car certainement je te récompenserai beaucoup, et je ferai tout ce que tu me diras; je te prie donc viens, maudis moi ce peuple.
For surely I will honor you exceedingly and all that you will say to me I will do and come! please curse! for me the people this.
18 Et Balaam répondit et dit aux Serviteurs de Balac: Quand Balac me donnerait sa maison pleine d'or et d'argent, je ne pourrais point transgresser le commandement de l'Eternel mon Dieu, pour faire [aucune] chose, petite ni grande.
And he answered Balaam and he said to [the] servants of Balak if he will give to me Balak [the] fullness of house his silver and gold not I will be able to transgress [the] mouth of Yahweh God my by doing a small [thing] or a large [thing].
19 Toutefois je vous prie demeurez maintenant ici encore cette nuit, et je saurai ce que l'Eternel aura de plus à me dire.
And now remain please in this [place] also you this night so let me know what? will he increase Yahweh to speak with me.
20 Et Dieu vint la nuit à Balaam, et lui dit: Puisque ces hommes sont venus t'appeler, lève-toi, et t'en va avec eux; mais quoi qu'il en soit tu feras ce que je te dirai.
And he came God - to Balaam night and he said to him if to summon you they have come the men arise go with them and only the word which I will speak to you it you will do.
21 Ainsi Balaam se leva le matin, et sella son ânesse, et s'en alla avec les Seigneurs de Moab.
And he arose Balaam in the morning and he saddled donkey his and he went with [the] leaders of Moab.
22 Mais la colère de Dieu s'enflamma parce qu'il s'en allait, et l'Ange de l'Eternel se tint dans le chemin pour s'opposer à lui; or il était monté sur son ânesse, et il avait avec lui deux de ses Serviteurs.
And it burned [the] anger of God for [was] going he and he stood [the] angel of Yahweh in the road to an adversary to him and he [was] riding on donkey his and two of servants his [were] with him.
23 Et l'ânesse vit l'Ange de l'Eternel qui se tenait dans le chemin, et qui avait son épée nue en sa main, et elle se détourna du chemin, et s'en allait à travers champs; et Balaam frappa l'ânesse pour la faire retourner au chemin.
And it saw the donkey [the] angel of Yahweh standing in the road and sword his [was] drawn in hand his and it turned aside the donkey from the road and it went in the field and he struck Balaam the donkey to turn it the road.
24 Mais l'Ange de l'Eternel s'arrêta dans un sentier de vignes, qui avait une cloison deçà, et une cloison delà.
And he stood [the] angel of Yahweh in [the] narrow way of the vineyards a wall from this and a wall from this.
25 Et l'ânesse ayant vu l'Ange de l'Eternel, se serra contre la muraille, et elle serrait contre la muraille le pied de Balaam; c'est pourquoi il continua à la frapper.
And it saw the donkey [the] angel of Yahweh and it squeezed itself to the wall and it squeezed [the] foot of Balaam to the wall and he repeated to strike it.
26 Et l'Ange passa plus avant, et s'arrêta en un lieu étroit, où il n'y avait nul chemin pour tourner à droite ni à gauche.
And he increased [the] angel of Yahweh to pass on and he stood in a place narrow where there not [was] a way to turn aside right [hand] and left [hand].
27 Et l'ânesse voyant l'Ange de l'Eternel, se coucha sous Balaam; et Balaam s'en mit en grande colère, et frappa l'ânesse avec son bâton.
And it saw the donkey [the] angel of Yahweh and it lay down under Balaam and it burned [the] anger of Balaam and he struck the donkey with the stick.
28 Alors l'Eternel fit parler l'ânesse, qui dit à Balaam: Que t'ai-je fait, que tu m'aies déjà battue trois fois?
And he opened Yahweh [the] mouth of the donkey and it said to Balaam what? have I done to you that you have struck me this three feet.
29 Et Balaam répondit à l'ânesse: Parce que tu t'es moquée de moi; plût à Dieu que j'eusse une épée en ma main, car je te tuerais sur-le-champ.
And he said Balaam to the donkey that you have dealt wantonly with me if there [were] a sword in hand my that now I killed you.
30 Et l'ânesse dit à Balaam: Ne suis-je pas ton ânesse, sur laquelle tu as monté depuis que je suis à toi jusqu'à aujourd'hui? Ai-je accoutumé de te faire ainsi? Et il répondit: Non.
And it said the donkey to Balaam ¿ not [am] I donkey your which you have ridden on me from duration your until the day this ¿ really have I had [the] habit to do to you thus and he said no.
31 Alors l'Eternel ouvrit les yeux de Balaam, et il vit l'Ange de l'Eternel qui se tenait dans le chemin, et qui avait en sa main son épée nue; et il s'inclina et se prosterna sur son visage.
And he uncovered Yahweh [the] eyes of Balaam and he saw [the] angel of Yahweh standing in the road and sword his [was] drawn in hand his and he bowed low and he bowed down to face his.
32 Et l'Ange de l'Eternel lui dit: Pourquoi as-tu frappé ton ânesse déjà par trois fois? Voici je suis sorti pour m'opposer à toi; parce que ta voie est devant moi [une voie] détournée.
And he said to him [the] angel of Yahweh concerning what? did you strike female donkey your this three feet here! I I came out to an adversary for it is precipitate the way to before me.
33 Mais l'ânesse m'a vu et s'est détournée de devant moi déjà par trois fois; autrement si elle ne se fût détournée de devant moi, je t'eusse même déjà tué, et je l'eusse laissée en vie.
And it saw me the donkey and it turned aside before me this three feet perhaps it had turned aside from before me if now also you I killed and it I preserved alive.
34 Alors Balaam dit à l'Ange de l'Eternel: J'ai péché, car je ne savais point que tu te tinsses dans le chemin contre moi; et maintenant si cela te déplaît, je m'en retournerai.
And he said Balaam to [the] angel of Yahweh I have sinned for not I knew that you [were] standing to meet me in the road and therefore if [it is] displeasing in view your I will turn back for myself.
35 Et l'Ange de l'Eternel dit à Balaam: Va avec ces hommes; mais tu diras seulement ce que je t'aurai dit. Balaam donc s'en alla avec les Seigneurs envoyés par Balac.
And he said [the] angel of Yahweh to Balaam go with the men and only the word which I will speak to you it you will speak and he went Balaam with [the] leaders of Balak.
36 Quand Balac apprit que Balaam venait, il sortit pour aller au devant de lui, en la cité de Moab, sur la frontière d'Arnon, au bout de la frontière.
And he heard Balak that he had come Balaam and he went out to meet him to [the] city of Moab which [is] on [the] border of Arnon which [is] at [the] end of the territory.
37 Et Balac dit à Balaam: N'ai-je pas auparavant envoyé vers toi pour t'appeler? pourquoi n'es-tu pas venu vers moi? est-ce que je ne pourrais pas te récompenser?
And he said Balak to Balaam ¿ not certainly did I send to you to summon you why? not did you come to me ¿ really not am I able to honor you.
38 Et Balaam répondit à Balac: Voici, je suis venu vers toi; mais pourrais-je maintenant dire quelque chose [de moi-même]? je ne dirai que ce que Dieu m'aura mis dans la bouche.
And he said Balaam to Balak here! I have come to you now ¿ certainly am I able to speak anything the word which he will put God in mouth my it I will speak.
39 Et Balaam s'en alla avec Balac, et ils vinrent en la cité de Hutsoth.
And he went Balaam with Balak and they came Kiriath-huzoth.
40 Et Balac sacrifia des bœufs et des brebis, et il en envoya à Balaam, et aux Seigneurs qui étaient venus avec lui.
And he sacrificed Balak cattle and sheep and he sent to Balaam and to the leaders who [were] with him.
41 Et quand le matin fut venu, il prit Balaam, et le fit monter aux hauts lieux de Bahal, et de là il vit une des extrémités du peuple.
And it was in the morning and he took Balak Balaam and he brought up him Bamoth Baal and he saw from there [the] outskirt[s] of the people.
