Luc 1
1 Parce que plusieurs se sont appliqués à mettre par ordre un récit des choses qui ont été pleinement certifiées entre nous;
Seeing that many took in hand to set in order a narration of the matters that have been fully assured among us,
2 Comme nous les ont donné à connaître ceux qui les ont vues eux-mêmes dès le commencement, et qui ont été les Ministres de la parole.
as they delivered to us, who from the beginning became eyewitnesses, and officers of the word,
3 Il m'a aussi semblé bon, après avoir examiné exactement toutes choses depuis le commencement jusques à la fin, très-excellent Théophile, de t'en écrire par ordre;
it seemed good also to me, having followed from the first after all things exactly, to write to you in order, most noble Theophilus,
4 Afin que tu connaisses la certitude des choses dont tu as été informé.
that you may know the certainty of the things wherein you were instructed.
5 Au temps d'Hérode Roi de Judée, il y avait un certain Sacrificateur nommé Zacharie, du rang d'Abia; et sa femme [était] des filles d'Aaron, et son nom était Elisabeth.
There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest, by name Zacharias, of the division of Abijah, and his wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name Elizabeth;
6 Et ils étaient tous deux justes devant Dieu, marchant dans tous les commandements, et dans [toutes] les ordonnances du Seigneur, sans reproche.
and they were both righteous before God, going on in all the commands and righteousnesses of the LORD blameless,
7 Et ils n'avaient point d'enfants, à cause qu'Elisabeth était stérile; et qu'ils étaient fort avancés en âge.
and they had no child, because that Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in their days.
8 Or il arriva que comme Zacharie exerçait la sacrificature devant le Seigneur, à son tour;
And it came to pass, in his acting as priest, in the order of his division before God,
9 Selon la coutume d'exercer la sacrificature, le sort lui échut d'offrir le parfum et d'entrer [pour cet effet] dans le Temple du Seigneur.
according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot was to make incense, having gone into the temple of the LORD,
10 Et toute la multitude du peuple était dehors en prières, à l'heure qu'on offrait le parfum.
and all the multitude of the people were praying outside, at the hour of the incense.
11 Et l'Ange du Seigneur lui apparut, se tenant au côté droit de l'autel du parfum.
And there appeared to him a messenger of the LORD standing on the right side of the altar of the incense,
12 Et Zacharie fut troublé quand il le vit, et il fut saisi de crainte.
and Zacharias, having seen, was troubled, and fear fell on him;
13 Mais l'Ange lui dit: Zacharie, ne crains point; car ta prière est exaucée, et Elisabeth ta femme enfantera un fils, et tu appelleras son nom Jean.
and the messenger said to him, “Do not fear, Zacharias, for your supplication was heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear a son to you, and you will call his name John,
14 Et tu en auras une grande joie, et plusieurs se réjouiront de sa naissance.
and there will be joy to you, and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,
15 Car il sera grand devant le Seigneur, et il ne boira ni vin ni cervoise; et il sera rempli du Saint-Esprit dès le ventre de sa mère.
for he will be great before the LORD, and wine and strong drink he may not drink, and he will be full of the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb;
16 Et il convertira plusieurs des enfants d'Israël au Seigneur leur Dieu.
and he will turn many of the sons of Israel to the LORD their God,
17 Car il ira devant lui animé de l'esprit et de la vertu d'Elie, afin qu'il ramène les cœurs des pères dans les enfants, et les rebelles à la prudence des justes, pour préparer au Seigneur un peuple bien disposé.
and he will go before Him, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn hearts of fathers to children, and disobedient ones to the wisdom of righteous ones, to make ready for the LORD, a people prepared.”
18 Alors Zacharie dit à l'Ange: comment connaîtrai-je cela? car je suis vieux, et ma femme est fort âgée.
And Zacharias said to the messenger, “Whereby will I know this? For I am aged, and my wife is advanced in her days?”
19 Et l'Ange répondant lui dit: Je suis Gabriel qui me tiens devant Dieu, et qui ai été envoyé pour te parler, et pour t'annoncer ces bonnes nouvelles.
And the messenger answering said to him, “I am Gabriel, who has been standing near before God, and I was sent to speak to you, and to proclaim this good news to you,
20 Et voici, tu seras sans parler, et tu ne pourras point parler jusqu'au jour que ces choses arriveront; parce que tu n'as point cru à mes paroles qui s'accompliront en leur temps.
and behold, you will be silent, and not able to speak, until the day that these things will come to pass, because you did not believe my words that will be fulfilled in their season.”
21 Or le peuple attendait Zacharie, et on s'étonnait de ce qu'il tardait tant dans le Temple.
And the people were waiting for Zacharias, and wondering at his lingering in the temple,
22 Mais quand il fut sorti, il ne pouvait pas leur parler, et ils connurent qu'il avait vu quelque vision dans le Temple; Car il le leur donnait à entendre par des signes; et il demeura muet.
and having come out, he was not able to speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, and he was beckoning to them, and remained mute.
23 Et il arriva que quand les jours de son ministère furent achevés, il retourna en sa maison.
And it came to pass, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he went away to his house,
24 Et après ces jours-là, Elisabeth sa femme conçut, et elle se cacha l'espace de cinq mois, en disant:
and after those days, his wife Elizabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
25 Certes, le Seigneur en a agi avec moi ainsi aux jours qu'il m'a regardée pour ôter mon opprobre d'entre les hommes.
“Thus the LORD has done to me, in days in which He looked on [me], to take away my reproach among men.”
26 Or au sixième mois, l'Ange Gabriel fut envoyé de Dieu dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth;
And in the sixth month the messenger Gabriel was sent by God, to a city of Galilee, the name of which [is] Nazareth,
27 Vers une Vierge fiancée à un homme nommé Joseph, qui était de la maison de David; et le nom de la Vierge était Marie.
to a virgin, betrothed to a man, whose name [is] Joseph, of the house of David, and the name of the virgin [is] Mary.
28 Et l'Ange étant entré dans le lieu où elle était, lui dit: je te salue, [ô toi qui es] reçue en grâce; le Seigneur est avec toi; tu es bénie entre les femmes.
And the messenger having come in to her, said, “Greetings, favored one, the LORD [is] with you; blessed [are] you among women”;
29 Et quand elle l'eut vu, elle fut fort troublée à cause de ses paroles; et elle considérait en elle-même quelle était cette salutation.
and she, having seen, was troubled at his word, and was reasoning of what kind this salutation may be.
30 Et l'Ange lui dit: Marie, ne crains point; car tu as trouvé grâce devant Dieu.
And the messenger said to her, “Do not fear, Mary, for you have found favor with God;
31 Et voici, tu concevras en ton ventre, et tu enfanteras un fils, et tu appelleras son nom JESUS.
and behold, you will conceive in the womb, and will bring forth a Son, and call His Name Jesus;
32 Il sera grand, et sera appelé le Fils du Souverain, et le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père.
He will be great, and He will be called Son of the Highest, and the LORD God will give Him the throne of His father David,
33 Et il régnera sur la maison de Jacob éternellement, et il n'y aura point de fin à son règne. (aiōn g165)
and He will reign over the house of Jacob for all ages; and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (aiōn g165)
34 Alors Marie dit à l'Ange: comment arrivera ceci, vu que je ne connais point d'homme?
And Mary said to the messenger, “How will this be, seeing I do not know a husband?”
35 Et l'Ange répondant lui dit: le Saint-Esprit surviendra en toi, et la vertu du Souverain t'enombrera; c'est pourquoi ce qui naîtra [de toi] Saint, sera appelé le Fils de Dieu.
And the messenger answering said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you, therefore also the holy-begotten thing will be called Son of God;
36 Et voici, Elizabeth, ta cousine, a aussi conçu un fils en sa vieillesse; et c'est ici le sixième mois de la grossesse de celle qui était appelée stérile.
and behold, Elizabeth, your relative, she also has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month to her who was called barren;
37 Car rien ne sera impossible à Dieu.
because nothing will be impossible with God.”
38 Et Marie dit: voici la servante du Seigneur; qu'il me soit fait selon ta parole! Et l'Ange se retira d'avec elle.
And Mary said, “Behold, the maidservant of the LORD; let it be to me according to your saying,” and the messenger went away from her.
39 Or en ces jours-là Marie se leva, et s'en alla en hâte au pays des montagnes dans une ville de Juda.
And Mary having arisen in those days, went into the hill-country, with haste, to a city of Judea,
40 Et elle entra dans la maison de Zacharie, et salua Elisabeth.
and entered into the house of Zacharias, and greeted Elizabeth.
41 Et il arriva qu'aussitôt qu'Elisabeth eut entendu la salutation de Marie, le petit enfant tressaillit en son ventre, et Elisabeth fut remplie du Saint-Esprit.
And it came to pass, when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the baby leapt in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,
42 Et elle s'écria à haute voix, et dit: tu es bénie entre les femmes, et béni [est] le fruit de ton ventre.
and spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed [are] you among women, and blessed [is] the Fruit of your womb;
43 Et d'où me vient ceci, que la mère de mon Seigneur vienne vers moi?
and from where [is] this to me, that the mother of my Lord might come to me?
44 Car voici, dès que la voix de ta salutation est parvenue à mes oreilles, le petit enfant a tressailli de joie en mon ventre.
For behold, when the voice of your salutation came to my ears, the baby in my womb leapt in gladness;
45 Or bienheureuse est celle qui a cru: car les choses qui lui ont été dites par le Seigneur, auront [leur] accomplissement.
and blessed [is] she who believed, for there will be a completion to the things spoken to her from the LORD.”
46 Alors Marie dit: Mon âme magnifie le Seigneur;
And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the LORD,
47 Et mon esprit s'est égayé en Dieu, qui est mon Sauveur.
And my spirit was glad on God my Savior,
48 Car il a regardé la bassesse de sa servante; voici, certes désormais tous les âges me diront bienheureuse.
Because He looked on the lowliness of His maidservant, For behold, from now on all the generations will call me blessed,
49 Car le Puissant m'a fait de grandes choses, et son Nom est Saint.
For He who is mighty did great things to me, And holy [is] His Name,
50 Et sa miséricorde est de génération en génération en faveur de ceux qui le craignent.
And His kindness [is] to generations of generations, To those fearing Him;
51 Il a puissamment opéré par son bras; il a dissipé les desseins que les orgueilleux formaient dans leurs cœurs.
He did powerfully with His arm, He scattered abroad the proud in the thought of their heart,
52 Il a renversé de dessus leurs trônes les puissants, et il a élevé les petits.
He brought down the mighty from thrones, And He exalted the lowly,
53 Il a rempli de biens ceux qui avaient faim; il a renvoyé les riches vides.
He filled the hungry with good, And the rich He sent away empty;
54 Il a pris en sa protection Israël, son serviteur, pour se souvenir de sa miséricorde;
He has taken hold of His servant Israel, To remember kindness,
55 ( Selon qu'il [en] a parlé à nos pères, [savoir] à Abraham et à sa postérité) à jamais. (aiōn g165)
As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed—throughout the age.” (aiōn g165)
56 Et Marie demeura avec elle environ trois mois, puis elle s'en retourna en sa maison.
And Mary remained with her about three months, and turned back to her house.
57 Or le terme d'Elisabeth fut accompli pour accoucher; et elle mit au monde un fils.
And to Elizabeth was the time fulfilled for her bringing forth, and she bore a son,
58 Et ses voisins, et ses parents ayant appris que le Seigneur avait fait éclater sa miséricorde envers elle, s'en réjouissaient avec elle.
and the neighbors and her relatives heard that the LORD was making His kindness great with her, and they were rejoicing with her.
59 Et il arriva qu'au huitième jour ils vinrent pour circoncire le petit enfant, et ils l'appelaient Zacharie, du nom de son père.
And it came to pass, on the eighth day, they came to circumcise the child, and they were calling him by the name of his father, Zacharias,
60 Mais sa mère prit la parole, et dit: Non, mais il sera nommé Jean.
and his mother answering said, “No, but he will be called John.”
61 Et ils lui dirent: il n'y a personne en ta parenté qui soit appelé de ce nom.
And they said to her, “There is none among your relatives who is called by this name,”
62 Alors ils firent signe à son père, qu'il déclarât comment il voulait qu'il fût nommé.
and they were making signs to his father, what he would wish him to be called,
63 Et [Zacharie] ayant demandé des tablettes, écrivit: Jean est son nom; et tous en furent étonnés.
and having asked for a tablet, he wrote, saying, “John is his name”; and they all wondered;
64 Et à l'instant sa bouche fut ouverte, et sa langue [déliée], tellement qu'il parlait en louant Dieu.
and his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue, and he was speaking, praising God.
65 Et tous ses voisins en furent saisis de crainte; et toutes ces choses furent divulguées dans tout le pays des montagnes de Judée.
And fear came on all those dwelling around them, and in all the hill-country of Judea were all these sayings spoken of,
66 Et tous ceux qui les entendirent les mirent en leur cœur, disant: que sera-ce de ce petit enfant? et la main du Seigneur était avec lui.
and all who heard laid them up in their hearts, saying, “What then will this child be?” And the hand of the LORD was with him.
67 Alors Zacharie son père fut rempli du Saint-Esprit, et il prophétisa, disant:
And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
68 Béni soit le Seigneur, le Dieu d'Israël, de ce qu'il a visité et délivré son peuple;
“Blessed [is] the LORD, the God of Israel, Because He looked on, And worked redemption for His people,
69 Et de ce qu'il nous a suscité un puissant Sauveur dans la maison de David, son serviteur.
And raised a horn of salvation to us, In the house of His servant David,
70 Selon ce qu'il avait dit par la bouche de ses saints Prophètes, qui ont été de tout temps; (aiōn g165)
As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Which have been from the age; (aiōn g165)
71 [Que] nous serions sauvés [de la main] de nos ennemis, et de la main de tous ceux qui nous haïssent;
Salvation from our enemies, And out of the hand of all hating us,
72 Pour exercer sa miséricorde envers nos pères, et pour avoir mémoire de sa sainte alliance;
To do kindness with our fathers, And to be mindful of His holy covenant,
73 [Qui est] le serment qu'il a fait à Abraham notre père;
An oath that He swore to Abraham our father,
74 [Savoir], qu'il nous accorderait, qu'étant délivrés de la main de nos ennemis, nous le servirions sans crainte.
To give to us, without fear, Having been delivered out of the hand of our enemies,
75 En sainteté et en justice devant lui, tous les jours de notre vie.
To serve Him, in holiness and righteousness Before Him, all the days of our life.
76 Et toi, petit enfant, tu seras appelé le Prophète du Souverain; car tu iras devant la face du Seigneur, pour préparer ses voies;
And you, child, Prophet of the Highest will you be called; For you will go before the face of the LORD, To prepare His ways.
77 Et pour donner la connaissance du salut à son peuple, dans la rémission de leurs péchés;
To give knowledge of salvation to His people In forgiveness of their sins,
78 Par les entrailles de la miséricorde de notre Dieu, desquelles l'Orient d'en haut nous a visités.
Through the yearnings of our God, In which the rising from on high looked on us,
79 Afin de reluire à ceux qui sont assis dans les ténèbres et dans l'ombre de la mort, et pour conduire nos pas dans le chemin de la paix.
To give light to those sitting in darkness and death-shade, To guide our feet to a way of peace.”
80 Et le petit enfant croissait, et se fortifiait en esprit; et il fut dans les déserts jusqu'au jour qu'il devait être manifesté à Israël.
And the child grew, and was strengthened in spirit, and he was in the deserts until the day of his showing to Israel.
