Lévitique 25

1 L'Eternel parla aussi à Moïse sur la montagne de Sinaï, en disant:

And the Lord spake vnto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,

2 Parle aux enfants d'Israël, et leur dis: Quand vous serez entrés au pays que je vous donne, la terre se reposera; ce sera un Sabbat à l'Eternel.

Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them, When ye shall come into the lande which I giue you, the lande shall keepe Sabbath vnto the Lord.

3 Pendant six ans tu sèmeras ton champ, et pendant six ans tu tailleras ta vigne, et en recueilleras le rapport.

Sixe yeeres thou shalt sowe thy field, and sixe yeeres thou shalt cut thy vineyarde, and gather the fruite thereof.

4 Mais la septième année il y aura un Sabbat de repos pour la terre, ce sera un Sabbat à l'Eternel; tu ne sèmeras point ton champ, et ne tailleras point ta vigne.

But the seuenth yeere shalbe a Sabbath of rest vnto the lande: it shall be the Lordes Sabbath: thou shalt neither sowe thy fielde, nor cut thy vineyarde.

5 Tu ne moissonneras point ce qui sera provenu de soi-même de ce qui sera tombé en moissonnant, et tu ne vendangeras point les raisins de ta vigne non taillée; [ce] sera l'année du repos de la terre.

That which groweth of it owne accorde of thy haruest, thou shalt not reape, neither gather the grapes that thou hast left vnlaboured: for it shalbe a yeere of rest vnto the land.

6 Mais ce qui proviendra de la terre l'année du Sabbat vous servira d'aliment, à toi, et à ton serviteur, et à ta servante, à ton mercenaire, et à ton étranger qui demeurent avec toi;

And the rest of the lande shall be meate for you, euen for thee, and for thy seruant, and for thy mayde, and for thy hired seruant, and for the stranger that soiourneth with thee:

7 Et à tes bêtes, et aux animaux qui sont en ton pays; tout son rapport sera pour manger.

And for thy cattell, and for the beastes that are in thy lande shall all the encrease thereof be meate.

8 Tu compteras aussi sept semaines d'années, [savoir] sept fois sept ans, et les jours de sept semaines feront quarante-neuf ans.

Also thou shalt number seuen Sabbaths of yeeres vnto thee, euen seuen times seuen yeere: and the space of the seuen Sabbaths of yeeres will be vnto thee nine and fourtie yeere.

9 Puis tu feras sonner la trompette de jubilation le dixième jour du septième mois, le jour, [dis-je], des propitiations, vous ferez sonner la trompette par tout votre pays.

Then thou shalt cause to blow the trumpet of the Iubile in the tenth day of the seuenth moneth: euen in the day of the reconciliation shall ye make the trumpet blowe, throughout all your lande.

10 Et vous sanctifierez l'an cinquantième, et publierez la liberté dans le pays à tous ses habitants; ce vous sera l'année du Jubilé, et vous retournerez chacun en sa possession, et chacun en sa famille.

And ye shall halowe that yeere, euen the fiftieth yeere, and proclaime libertie in the lande to all the inhabitants thereof: it shalbe the Iubile vnto you, and ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession, and euery man shall returne vnto his familie.

11 Cette cinquantième année vous sera [l'année] du Jubilé, vous ne sèmerez point et ne moissonnerez point ce que la terre rapportera d'elle-même, et vous ne vendangerez point les fruits de la vigne non taillée.

This fiftieth yeere shalbe a yeere of Iubile vnto you: ye shall not sowe, neither reape that which groweth of it selfe, neither gather the grapes thereof, that are left vnlaboured.

12 Car c'est [l'année] du Jubilé, elle vous sera sainte; vous mangerez ce que les champs rapporteront cette année-là.

For it is the Iubile, it shall be holy vnto you: ye shall eate of the encrease thereof out of the fielde.

13 En cette année du Jubilé vous retournerez chacun en sa possession.

In the yeere of this Iubile, ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession.

14 Et si tu fais quelque vente à ton prochain, ou si tu achètes [quelque chose] de ton prochain, que nul de vous ne foule son frère.

And when thou sellest ought to thy neighbour, or byest at thy neighbours hande, ye shall not oppresse one another:

15 Mais tu achèteras de ton prochain selon le nombre des années après le Jubilé. Pareillement on te fera les ventes selon le nombre des années du rapport.

But according to the nomber of yeeres after the Iubile thou shalt bye of thy neighbour: also according to the nomber of the yeeres of the reuenues, he shall sell vnto thee.

16 Selon qu'il y aura plus d'années, tu augmenteras le prix de ce que tu achètes; et selon qu'il y aura moins d'années, tu le diminueras; car on te vend le nombre des récoltes.

According to the multitude of yeeres, thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewnesse of yeeres, thou shalt abate the price of it: for the nomber of fruites doeth he sell vnto thee.

17 Que donc nul de vous ne foule son prochain; mais craignez votre Dieu, car je suis l'Eternel votre Dieu.

Oppresse not ye therefore any man his neighbour, but thou shalt feare thy God: for I am the Lord your God.

18 Faites selon mes ordonnances, gardez mes jugements, observez-les, et vous habiterez sûrement au pays.

Wherefore ye shall obey mine ordinances, and keepe my lawes, and do them, and ye shall dwell in the land in safetie.

19 Et la terre vous donnera ses fruits, vous en mangerez, vous en serez rassasiés, et vous habiterez sûrement en elle.

And the lande shall giue her fruite, and ye shall eate your fill, and dwell therein in safetie.

20 Et si vous dites: Que mangerons-nous en la septième année si nous ne semons point, et si nous ne recueillons point notre récolte?

And if ye shall say, What shall we eate the seuenth yeere, for we shall not sowe, nor gather in our increase?

21 Je commanderai à ma bénédiction [de se répandre] sur vous en la sixième année, et [la terre] rapportera pour trois ans.

I will sende my blessing vpon you in the sixt yeere, and it shall bring foorth fruite for three yeeres.

22 Puis vous sèmerez en la huitième année, et vous mangerez du rapport du passé jusqu'à la neuvième année; jusqu'à ce [donc] que son rapport sera venu, vous mangerez celui du passé.

And ye shall sowe the eight yeere, and eate of the olde fruite vntill the ninth yeere: vntill the fruite thereof come, ye shall eate the olde.

23 La terre ne sera point vendue absolument, car la terre est à moi; et vous êtes étrangers et forains chez moi.

Also the lande shall not be solde to be cut off from the familie: for the land is mine, and ye be but strangers and soiourners with me.

24 C'est pourquoi dans tout le pays de votre possession vous donnerez le droit de rachat pour la terre.

Therefore in all the land of your possession ye shall graunt a redemption for the lande.

25 Si ton frère est devenu pauvre, et vend quelque chose de ce qu'il possède, celui qui a le droit de rachat, [savoir] son [plus] proche parent, viendra et rachètera la chose vendue par son frère.

If thy brother be impouerished, and sell his possession, then his redeemer shall come, euen his neere kinsman, and bye out that which his brother solde.

26 Que si cet homme n'a personne qui ait le droit de rachat, et qu'il ait trouvé de soi-même suffisamment de quoi faire le rachat de ce qu'il a vendu;

And if he haue no redeemer, but hath gotten and founde to bye it out,

27 Il comptera les années du temps qu'il a fait la vente, et il restituera le surplus à l'homme auquel il l'avait faite, et ainsi il retournera dans sa possession.

Then shall he count the yeeres of his sale, and restore the ouerplus to the man, to whome he solde it: so shall he returne to his possession.

28 Mais s'il n'a pas trouvé suffisamment de quoi lui rendre, la chose qu'il aura vendue sera en la main de celui qui l'aura achetée, jusqu'à l'année du Jubilé; puis [l'acheteur] en sortira au Jubilé, et [le vendeur] retournera dans sa possession.

But if he can not get sufficient to restore to him, then that which is solde, shall remaine in the hande of him that hath bought it, vntill the yere of the Iubile: and in the Iubile it shall come out, and he shall returne vnto his possession.

29 Et si quelqu'un a vendu une maison à habiter dans quelque ville fermée de murailles, il aura le droit de rachat jusqu'à la fin de l'année de sa vente; son droit de rachat sera d'une année.

Likewise if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled citie, he may bye it out againe within a whole yeere after it is solde: within a yeere may he bye it out.

30 Mais si elle n'est point rachetée dans l'année accomplie, la maison qui [est] dans la ville fermée de murailles, demeurera à l'acheteur absolument et en ses âges; il n'en sortira point au Jubilé.

But if it be not bought out within ye space of a ful yeere, then the house that is in the walled citie, shalbe stablished, as cut off from the familie, to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not goe out in the Iubile.

31 Mais les maisons des villages, qui ne sont point entourés de murailles, seront réputées comme un fonds de terre; le vendeur aura droit de rachat, et [l'acheteur] sortira au Jubilé.

But the houses of villages, which haue no walles round about them, shalbe esteemed as the fielde of the countrey: they may be bought out againe, and shall goe out in the Iubile.

32 Et quant aux villes des Lévites, les Lévites auront un droit de rachat perpétuel des maisons des villes de leur possession.

Notwithstanding, the cities of the Leuites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Leuites redeeme at all seasons.

33 Et celui qui aura acheté [quelque maison] des Lévites, sortira au Jubilé de la maison vendue, qui est en la ville de sa possession; car les maisons des villes des Lévites [sont] leur possession parmi les enfants d'Israël.

And if a man purchase of the Leuites, the house that was solde, and the citie of their possession shall goe out in the Iubile: for the houses of the cities of the Leuites are their possession among the children of Israel.

34 Mais le champ des faubourgs de leurs villes ne sera point vendu; car c'[est] leur possession perpétuelle.

But the fielde of the suburbes of their cities, shall not be solde: for it is their perpetuall possession.

35 Quand ton frère sera devenu pauvre, et qu'il tendra vers toi ses mains tremblantes, tu le soutiendras, [tu soutiendras] aussi l'étranger, et le forain, afin qu'il vive avec toi.

Moreouer, if thy brother be impouerished, and fallen in decay with thee, thou shalt relieue him, and as a stranger and soiourner, so shall he liue with thee.

36 Tu ne prendras point de lui d'usure, ni d'intérêt, mais tu craindras ton Dieu; et ton frère vivra avec toi.

Thou shalt take no vsurie of him, nor vantage, but thou shalt feare thy God, that thy brother may liue with thee.

37 Tu ne lui donneras point ton argent à usure, ni ne lui donneras de tes vivres à surcroît.

Thou shalt not giue him thy money to vsurie, nor lende him thy vitailes for increase.

38 Je suis l'Eternel votre Dieu qui vous ai retirés du pays d'Egypte, pour vous donner le pays de Canaan, afin de vous être Dieu.

I am the Lord your God, which haue brought you out of the lande of Egypt, to giue you the lande of Canaan, and to be your God.

39 Pareillement quand ton frère sera devenu pauvre auprès de toi, et qu'il se sera vendu à toi, tu ne te serviras point de lui comme on se sert des esclaves.

If thy brother also that dwelleth by thee, be impouerished, and be sold vnto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serue as a bond seruant,

40 [Mais] il sera chez toi comme serait le mercenaire, [et] l'étranger, [et] il te servira jusqu'à l'année du Jubilé.

But as an hired seruant, and as a soiourner he shalbe with thee: he shall serue thee vnto the yeere of the Iubile.

41 Alors il sortira de chez toi avec ses enfants, il s'en retournera dans sa famille, et rentrera dans la possession de ses pères.

Then shall he depart from thee, both hee, and his children with him, and shall returne vnto his familie, and vnto the possession of his fathers shall he returne:

42 Car ils sont mes serviteurs, parce que je les ai retirés du pays d'Egypte; c'est pourquoi ils ne seront point vendus comme on vend les esclaves.

For they are my seruants, whom I brought out of the lande of Egypt: they shall not be solde as bondmen are solde.

43 Tu ne domineras point sur lui rigoureusement, mais tu craindras ton Dieu.

Thou shalt not rule ouer him cruelly, but shalt feare thy God.

44 Et quant à ton esclave et à ta servante qui seront à toi, ils seront d'entre les nations qui sont autour de vous; vous achèterez d'elles le serviteur et la servante.

Thy bond seruant also, and thy bond maid, which thou shalt haue, shalbe of the heathen that are rounde about you: of them shall ye bye seruants and maydes.

45 Vous en achèterez aussi d'entre les enfants des étrangers qui demeurent avec vous, même de leurs familles qui seront parmi vous, lesquelles ils auront engendrées en votre pays, et vous les posséderez.

And moreouer of the children of the stragers, that are soiourners among you, of them shall ye bye, and of their families that are with you, which they begate in your lande: these shall be your possession.

46 Vous les aurez comme un héritage pour les laisser à vos enfants après vous, afin qu'ils en héritent la possession, [et] vous vous servirez d'eux à perpétuité; mais quant à vos frères, les enfants d'Israël, nul ne dominera rigoureusement sur son frère.

So ye shall take them as inheritance for your children after you, to possesse them by inheritance, ye shall vse their labours for euer: but ouer your brethren the children of Israel ye shall not rule one ouer another with crueltie.

47 Et lorsque l'étranger ou le forain qui est avec toi se sera enrichi, et que ton frère qui est avec lui sera devenu si pauvre qu'il se soit vendu à l'étranger, [ou] au forain qui est avec toi, ou à quelqu'un de la postérité de la famille de l'étranger.

If a soiourner or a stranger dwelling by thee get riches, and thy brother by him be impouerished, and sell him selfe vnto the stranger or soiourner dwelling by thee, or to the stocke of the strangers familie,

48 Après s'être vendu il y aura droit de rachat pour lui, [et] un de ses frères le rachètera.

After that he is solde, he may be bought out: one of his brethren may bye him out,

49 Ou son oncle, ou le fils de son oncle, ou quelque autre proche parent de son sang d'entre ceux de sa famille, le rachètera; ou lui-même, s'il en trouve le moyen, se rachètera.

Or his vncle, or his vncles sonne may bye him out, or any of the kindred of his flesh among his familie, may redeeme him: either if he can get so much, he may bye him selfe out.

50 Et il comptera avec son acheteur depuis l'année qu'il s'est vendu à lui, jusqu'à l'année du Jubilé; de sorte que l'argent du prix pour lequel il s'est vendu, se comptera à raison du nombre des années; le temps qu'il aura servi lui sera compté comme les journées d'un mercenaire.

Then he shall recken with his byer from the yeere that he was solde to him, vnto the yere of Iubile: and the money of his sale shalbe according to the number of yeeres: according to the time of an hyred seruant shall he be with him.

51 S'il y a encore plusieurs années, il restituera le prix de son achat à raison de ces [années], selon le prix pour lequel il a été acheté.

If there be many yeeres behind, according to them he shall giue againe for his deliuerance, of the money that he was bought for.

52 Et s'il reste peu d'années jusqu'à l'an du Jubilé, il comptera avec lui, et restituera le prix de son achat à raison des années qu'il a servi.

If there remaine but fewe yeeres vnto the yeere of Iubile, then he shall count with him, and according to his yeeres giue againe for his redemption.

53 Il aura été avec lui comme un mercenaire qui se loue d'année en année; [et cet étranger] ne dominera point sur lui rigoureusement en ta présence.

He shalbe with him yeere by yeere as an hired seruant: he shall not rule cruelly ouer him in thy sight.

54 Que s'il n'est pas racheté par quelqu'un de ces moyens, il sortira l'année du Jubilé, lui et ses fils avec lui.

And if he be not redeemed thus, he shall go out in the yeere of Iubile, he, and his children with him.

55 Car les enfants d'Israël me sont serviteurs; ce [sont] mes serviteurs que j'ai retirés du pays d'Egypte; je suis l'Eternel votre Dieu.

For vnto me the children of Israel are seruants: they are my seruants, who I haue brought out of the land of Egypt: I am ye Lord your God.
