Juges 8
1 Alors les hommes d'Ephraïm lui dirent: Que veut dire ce que tu nous as fait, de ne nous avoir pas appelés quand tu es allé à la guerre contre Madian; et ils s'emportèrent fortement contre lui.
And they said to him [the] man of Ephraim what? [is] the thing this [which] you have done to us to not to summon us that you went to fight against Midian and they quarreled! with him with force.
2 Et il leur répondit: Qu'ai-je fait maintenant au prix de ce que vous avez fait? Les grappillages d'Ephraïm ne sont-ils pas meilleurs que la vendange d'Abihézer?
And he said to them what? have I done now like you ¿ not good [are] [the] gleanings of Ephraim more than [the] grape harvest of Abiezer.
3 Dieu a livré entra vos mains les chefs de Madian, Horeb et Zééb; or qu'ai-je pu faire au prix de ce que vous avez fait? et leur esprit fut apaisé envers lui quand il leur eut ainsi parlé.
In hand your he has given God [the] commanders of Midian Oreb and Zeeb and what? have I been able to do like you then it relaxed spirit their from on him when said he the word this.
4 Or Gédeon étant arrivé au Jourdain le passa, lui et les trois cents hommes qui étaient avec lui, lesquels tout las qu'ils étaient, poursuivaient [l'ennemi].
And he came Gideon the Jordan towards [was] passing over he and three hundred the man who [were] with him [were] exhausted and pursuing.
5 C'est pourquoi il dit aux gens de Succoth: Donnez, je vous prie, au peuple qui me suit, quelques pains car ils sont las; et ainsi je poursuivrai Zébah et Tsalmunah, Rois de Madian.
And he said to [the] people of Succoth give please round loaves of bread to the people which [is] at feet my for [are] exhausted they and I [am] pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna [the] kings of Midian.
6 Mais les principaux de Succoth répondirent: La paume de Zébah et celle de Tsalmunah sont-elles maintenant en ta main, que nous donnions du pain à ton armée?
And he said [the] officials of Succoth ¿ [is] [the] hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in hand your that we will give to army your bread.
7 Et Gédeon dit: Quand donc l'Eternel aura livré Zébah et Tsalmunah en ma main, je froisserai alors votre chair avec des épines du désert, et avec des chardons.
And he said Gideon therefore when gives Yahweh Zebah and Zalmunna in hand my and I will thresh flesh your with thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
8 Puis de là il monta à Pénuël, et il tint les mêmes discours à ceux de Pénuël. Et les gens de Pénuël lui répondirent comme les gens de Succoth avaient répondu.
And he went up from there Penuel and he spoke to them like this and they answered him [the] men of Penuel just as they had answered [the] men of Succoth.
9 Il parla donc aussi aux hommes de Pénuël, en disant: Quand je retournerai en paix, je démolirai cette tour.
And he said also to [the] men of Penuel saying when return I in peace I will tear down the tower this.
10 Or Zébah et Tsalmunah étaient à Karkor, et leurs armées avec eux, environ quinze mille hommes, qui étaient tous ceux qui étaient restés de toute l'armée des Orientaux; car il en était tombé morts six vingt mille hommes tirant l'épée.
And Zebah and Zalmunna [were] in Karkor and armies their [were] with them about fif-teen thousand all those [who] remained of all [the] army of [the] people of [the] east and those [who] fell [were] one hundred and twenty thousand man [who] drew [the] sword.
11 Et Gédeon monta par le chemin de ceux qui habitent dans les tentes, du côté oriental de Nobah et de Jogbeha, et défit l'armée, qui se croyait assurée.
And he went up Gideon [the] way of those [who] dwell in tents from [the] east of Nobah and Jogbehah and he attacked the army and the army it was security.
12 Et comme Zébah et Tsalmunah s'enfuyaient, il les poursuivit, et prit les deux Rois de Madian, Zébah et Tsalmunah, et mit en déroute toute l'armée.
And they fled Zebah and Zalmunna and he pursued after them and he captured [the] two - [the] kings of Midian Zebah and Zalmunna and all the army he routed.
13 Puis Gédeon fils de Joas retourna de la bataille de la montée de Hèrés.
And he returned Gideon [the] son of Joash from the battle from to [the] ascent of Heres.
14 Et prenant un garçon de Succoth, il l'interrogea; [et] ce garçon lui donna par écrit les principaux de Succoth, et ses Anciens, [au nombre] de soixante dix-sept hommes.
And he captured a young man one of [the] men of Succoth and he enquired of him and he wrote down to him [the] officials of Succoth and elders its seventy and seven man.
15 Et il s'en vint aux gens de Succoth, et leur dit: Voici Zébah et Tsalmunah, au sujet desquels vous m'avez insulté, en disant: La paume de Zébah et celle de Tsalmunah sont-elles maintenant en ta main, que nous donnions du pain à tes gens fatigués?
And he came to [the] men of Succoth and he said here! Zebah and Zalmunna whom you taunted me saying ¿ [is] [the] hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in hand your that we will give to men your weary bread.
16 Il prit donc les Anciens de la ville, et des épines du désert, et des chardons, et il en froissa les hommes de Succoth.
And he took [the] elders of the city and [the] thorns of the wilderness and the briers and he taught with them [the] men of Succoth.
17 Or il avait démoli la tour de Pénuël, et mis à mort les gens de la ville.
And [the] tower of Penuel he tore down and he killed [the] men of the city.
18 Puis il dit à Zébah et à Tsalmunah: Comment [étaient faits] ces hommes que vous avez tués sur le Tabor? Ils répondirent: Ils étaient entièrement comme toi; chacun d'eux avait l'air d'un fils de Roi.
And he said to Zebah and to Zalmunna where? [are] the men whom you killed at Tabor (and they said *L(abh)*) like you like them one [was] like [the] appearance of [the] sons of the king.
19 Et il leur dit: C'étaient mes frères, enfants de ma mère; l'Eternel est vivant, si vous leur eussiez sauvé la vie, je ne vous tuerais pas.
And he said [were] brothers my [the] sons of mother my they [by] [the] life of Yahweh if you had let live them not I killed you.
20 Puis il dit à Jéther son premier-né: Lève-toi, tue-les; mais le jeune garçon ne tira point son épée, car il avait peur, parce qu'il était encore jeune garçon.
And he said to Jether firstborn his arise kill them and not he drew the young man sword his for he was afraid for still he [was] a young man.
21 Et Zébah et Tsalmunah dirent: Lève-toi toi-même, et te jette sur nous; car tel qu'est l'homme, telle est sa force. Et Gédeon se leva, et tua Zébah et Tsalmunah, et prit les colliers qui étaient aux cous de leurs chameaux.
And he said Zebah and Zalmunna arise you and fall on us for [is] like the man strength his and he arose Gideon and he killed Zebah and Zalmunna and he took the ornaments which [were] on [the] necks of camels their.
22 Et ceux d'Israël dirent tous d'un accord à Gédeon: Domine sur nous, tant toi que ton fils, et le fils de ton fils; car tu nous as délivrés de la main de Madian.
And they said [the] man of Israel to Gideon rule over us both you as well as son your as well as [the] son of son your for you have delivered us from [the] hand of Midian.
23 Et Gédeon leur répondit: Je ne dominerai point sur vous, ni mon fils ne dominera point sur vous; l'Eternel dominera sur vous.
And he said to them Gideon not I will rule I over you and not he will rule son my over you Yahweh he will rule over you.
24 Mais Gédeon leur dit: Je vous ferai une prière, qui est que vous me donniez chacun de vous les bagues qu'il a eues du butin; car les ennemis avaient des bagues d'or, parce qu'ils étaient Ismaélites.
And he said to them Gideon let me ask from you a petition and give to me everyone earring of plunder his for earrings of gold [belonged] to them for [were] Ishmaelites they.
25 Et ils répondirent: Nous les donnerons très-volontiers; et étendant un manteau ils y jetèrent chacun les bagues qu'ils avaient eues du butin.
And they said certainly we will give [them] and they spread out the garment and they threw there towards everyone earring of plunder his.
26 Et le poids des bagues d'or qu'il avait demandées, fut de mille sept cents [sicles] d'or, sans les colliers, les bœttes de senteur, et les vêtements d'écarlate qui étaient sur les Rois de Madian, et sans les chaînes qui étaient aux cous de leurs chameaux.
And it was [the] weight of [the] earrings of gold which he asked for one thousand and seven hundred gold apart from the ornaments and the pendants and [the] garments of purple that [were] on [the] kings of Midian and apart from the necklaces which [were] on [the] necks of camels their.
27 Puis Gédeon en fit un Ephod; et le mit en sa ville, qui était Hophra; et tout Israël paillarda après lui en ce lieu-là; ce qui tourna en piège à Gédeon, et à sa maison.
And he made it Gideon into an ephod and he placed it in city his in Ophrah and they acted as prostitutes all Israel after it there and it became for Gideon and for household his a snare.
28 Ainsi Madian fut humilié devant les enfants d'Israël, et n'éleva plus sa tête; et le pays fut en repos quarante ans aux jours de Gédeon.
And it was subdued Midian before [the] people of Israel and not they repeated to lift up head their and it was at peace the land forty year[s] in [the] days of Gideon.
29 Jérubbahal donc fils de Joas s'en vint [en sa ville], et se tint en sa maison.
And he went Jerub-Baal [the] son of Joash and he dwelt in own house his.
30 Or Gédeon eut soixante et dix fils, sortis de sa hanche, parce qu'il eut plusieurs femmes.
And to Gideon they belonged seventy sons [who] came out of thigh his for wives many they belonged to him.
31 Et sa concubine, qui était à Sichem, lui enfanta aussi un fils, et il le nomma Abimélec.
And concubine his who [was] in Shechem she bore to him also she a son and he made name his Abimelech.
32 Puis Gédeon, fils de Joas, mourut en bonne vieillesse, et fut enseveli au sépulcre de Joas son père à Hophra des Abihézérites.
And he died Gideon [the] son of Joash in old age good and he was buried in [the] tomb of Joash father his in Ophrah of [the] Abi-ezrite[s].
33 Et il arriva après que Gédeon fut mort, que les enfants d'Israël se détournèrent, et paillardèrent après les Bahalins, et s'établirent Bahal-bérith pour Dieu.
And it was just when he had died Gideon and they turned back [the] people of Israel and they acted as prostitutes after the Baals and they made for themselves Baal-Berith into god.
34 Ainsi les enfants d'Israël ne se souvinrent point de l'Eternel leur Dieu, qui les avait délivrés de la main de tous leurs ennemis qui les environnaient.
And not they remembered [the] people of Israel Yahweh God their who delivered them from [the] hand of all enemies their from round about.
35 Et ils n'usèrent d'aucune gratuité envers la maison de Jérubbahal Gédeon, selon tout le bien qu'il avait fait à Israël.
And not they did loyalty with [the] house of Jerub-Baal Gideon according to all the good which he had done with Israel.
