Juges 10
1 Après Abimélec, Tolah fils de Puah, fils de Dodo, homme d'Issacar, fut suscité pour délivrer Israël, et il habitait à Samir en la montagne d'Ephraïm.
And there arose after Abimelech to deliver Israel Tola' the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the mountain of Ephraim.
2 Et il jugea Israël vingt-trois ans, puis il mourut, et fut enseveli à Samir.
And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and then died, and was buried in Shamir.
3 Après lui fut suscité Jaïr Galaadite, qui jugea Israël vingt-deux ans.
And after him arose Yair, the Gil'adite, and judged Israel twenty and two years;
4 Et il eut trente fils, qui montaient sur trente ânons, et qui avaient trente villes, qu'on appelle les villes de Jaïr jusqu'à ce jour, lesquelles sont au pays de Galaad.
And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass-colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Chavvoth-yair unto this day, which are in the land of Gil'ad.
5 Et Jaïr mourut, et fut enseveli à Kamon.
And Yair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6 Puis les enfants d'Israël recommencèrent à faire ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, et servirent les Bahalins, et Hastaroth, savoir, les dieux de Syrie, les dieux de Sidon, les dieux de Moab, les dieux des enfants de Hammon, et les dieux des Philistins; et ils abandonnèrent l'Eternel, et ne le servaient plus.
And the children of Israel repeated to do the evil in the eyes of the Lord, and they served the Be'alim, and 'Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of 'Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and they forsook the Lord, and served not him.
7 Alors la colère de l'Eternel s'enflamma contre Israël, et il les vendit en la main des Philistins, et en la main des enfants de Hammon;
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of 'Ammon.
8 Qui opprimèrent et foulèrent les enfants d'Israël cette année-là, qui était la dix-huitième; [savoir] tous les enfants d'Israël, qui étaient au-delà du Jourdain au pays des Amorrhéens, qui est en Galaad.
And they afflicted and oppressed the children of Israel that year; [and] for eighteen years all the children of Israel that were on the other side of the Jordan in the land of the Emorites, which is in Gil'ad.
9 Même les enfants de Hammon passèrent le Jourdain pour combattre aussi contre Juda, et contre Benjamin, et contre la maison d'Ephraïm; et Israël fut fort serré.
And the children of 'Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sorely distressed.
10 Alors les enfants d'Israël crièrent à l'Eternel, en disant: Nous avons péché contre toi, et certes nous avons abandonné notre Dieu, et nous avons servi les Bahalins.
And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Be'alim.
11 Mais l'Eternel répondit aux enfants d'Israël: N'avez-vous pas été opprimés par les Egyptiens, les Amorrhéens, les enfants de Hammon, les Philistins,
And the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Behold [I delivered you] from the Egyptians, and from the Emorites, from the children of 'Ammon, and from the Philistines.
12 Les Sidoniens, les Hamalécites, et les Mahonites? cependant quand vous avez crié vers moi, je vous ai délivrés de leurs mains.
And when the Zidonians, and the 'Amalekites, and the Ma'onites did oppress you, and ye cried to me, I delivered you also out of their hand.
13 Mais vous m'avez abandonné, et vous avez servi d'autres dieux; c'est pourquoi je ne vous délivrerai plus.
And yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods; wherefore I will deliver you no more.
14 Allez, et criez aux dieux que vous avez choisis; qu'ils vous délivrent au temps de votre détresse.
Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let these deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
15 Mais les enfants d'Israël répondirent à l'Eternel: Nous avons péché, fais-nous, comme il te semblera bon; nous te prions seulement que tu nous délivres aujourd'hui.
And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us entirely as it seemeth good in thy eyes; only deliver us, we pray thee, this time.
16 Alors ils ôtèrent du milieu d'eux les dieux des étrangers, et servirent l'Eternel, qui fut touché en son cœur de l'affliction d'Israël.
And they put away the strange gods from their midst, and served the Lord; and his soul was grieved for the trouble of Israel.
17 Or les enfants de Hammon s'assemblèrent, et se campèrent en Galaad; et les enfants d'Israël aussi s'assemblèrent, et se campèrent à Mitspa.
And the children of 'Ammon were called together, and they encamped in Gil'ad. And the children of Israel also assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
18 Et le peuple, [et] les principaux de Galaad dirent l'un à l'autre: Qui sera l'homme qui commencera à combattre contre les enfants de Hammon? il sera pour chef à tous les habitants de Galaad.
And the people, the princes of Gil'ad, said one to another, Whatever man it be that will begin to fight against the children of 'Ammon, shall become the head over all the inhabitants of Gil'ad.
