Josué 2

1 Or Josué, fils de Nun, avait envoyé de Sittim deux hommes, pour épier secrètement [le pays, et il leur avait] dit: Allez, considérez le pays, et Jérico. Ils partirent donc, et vinrent dans la maison d'une femme paillarde, nommée Rahab, et couchèrent là.

And he sent Joshua [the] son of Nun from Shittim two men spies secretly saying go see the land and Jericho and they went and they went [the] house of a woman a prostitute and name her [was] Rahab and they lay down there.

2 Alors on dit au Roi de Jérico: Voilà des hommes qui sont venus ici cette nuit de la part des enfants d'Israël pour reconnaître le pays.

And it was told to [the] king of Jericho saying here! men they have come hither this night from [the] people of Israel to spy out the land.

3 Et le Roi de Jérico envoya vers Rahab, en disant: Fais sortir les hommes qui sont venus chez toi, et qui sont entrés dans ta maison; car ils sont venus pour reconnaître tout le pays.

And he sent [the] king of Jericho to Rahab saying bring out the men who came to you who they came to house your for to spy out all the land they have come.

4 Or la femme avait pris ces deux hommes, et les avait cachés; et elle dit: Il est vrai que des hommes sont venus chez moi, mais je ne savais pas d'où ils [étaient];

And she took the woman [the] two the men and she hid him and she said - right they came to me the men and not I knew from where [were] they.

5 Et comme on fermait la porte sur le soir, ces hommes-là sont sortis. Je ne sais point où ces hommes sont allés; poursuivez-les bien vite, car vous les atteindrez.

And it was the gate [about] to shut at darkness and the men they went out not I know where? did they go the men pursue quickly after them for you will overtake them.

6 Or elle les avait fait monter sur le toit, et les avait cachés dans des chènevottes de lin qu'elle avait arrangées sur le toit.

And she she had taken up them the roof towards and she had hidden them among [the] flax of the tree that had been arranged by her on the roof.

7 Et quelques gens les poursuivirent par le chemin du Jourdain jusqu'aux passages; et on ferma la porte après que ceux qui les poursuivaient furent sortis.

And the men they pursued after them [the] road of the Jordan to the fords and the gate people closed after just when they had gone out the pursuers after them.

8 Or avant qu'ils se couchassent, elle monta vers eux sur le toit;

And they not yet they had lain down! and she she went up to them on the roof.

9 Et leur dit: Je connais que l'Eternel vous a donné le pays; et que la terreur de votre nom nous a saisis, et que tous les habitants du pays sont devenus lâches à cause de vous.

And she said to the men I know that he has given Yahweh to you the land and that it has fallen dread your on us and that they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of you.

10 Car nous avons entendu que l'Eternel a tari les eaux de la mer Rouge de devant vous, quand vous sortiez du pays d'Egypte; et ce que vous ayez fait aux deux Rois des Amorrhéens qui [étaient] au delà du Jourdain, à Sihon et à Hog, que vous avez détruits à la façon de l'interdit.

For we have heard this: he dried up Yahweh [the] waters of [the] sea of reed[s] from before you when came out you from Egypt and [that] which you did to [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] who [was] on [the] other side of the Jordan to Sihon and to Og whom you totally destroyed them.

11 Nous l'avons entendu, et notre cœur s'est fondu, et depuis cela aucun homme n'a eu de courage, à cause de vous; car l'Eternel votre Dieu est le Dieu des cieux en haut, et de la terre en bas.

And we heard and it melted heart our and not it arose again spirit in anyone because of you for Yahweh God your he [is] God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.

12 Maintenant donc, je vous prie, jurez-moi par l'Eternel, que puisque j'ai usé de gratuité envers vous, vous userez aussi de gratuité envers la maison de mon père, et que vous me donnerez des marques assurées,

And therefore swear please to me by Yahweh for I have done with you loyalty and you will do also you with [the] household of father my loyalty and you will give to me a sign of faithfulness.

13 Que vous sauverez la vie à mon père et à ma mère, à mes frères et à mes sœurs, et à tous ceux qui leur appartiennent, et que vous garantirez nos personnes de la mort.

And you will let live father my and mother my and brothers my and (sisters my *Q(K)*) and all who [belong] to them and you will deliver lives our from death.

14 Et ces hommes lui répondirent: Nos personnes répondront pour vous jusques à la mort, pourvu que vous ne nous déceliez point en cette affaire; et quand l'Eternel nous aura donné le pays nous userons envers toi de gratuité et de vérité.

And they said to her the men life our for you to die if not you will tell business our this and it will be when gives Yahweh to us the land and we will do with you loyalty and faithfulness.

15 Elle les fit donc descendre avec une corde par la fenêtre; car sa maison était sur la muraille [de la ville], et elle habitait sur la muraille [de la ville].

And she let down them with rope through the window for house her [was] in [the] wall of the city wall and in the city wall she [was] dwelling.

16 Et elle leur dit: Allez à la montagne, de peur que ceux qui [vous] poursuivent ne vous rencontrent, et cachez-vous là trois jours jusqu'à ce que ceux qui vous poursuivent soient de retour; et après cela vous irez votre chemin.

And she said to them the hill country towards go lest they should meet you the pursuers and you will hide yourselves there three days until return the pursuers and after you will go to way your.

17 Or ces hommes lui avaient dit: Nous [serons] quittes [en cette manière]-ci de ce serment que tu nous as fait faire;

And they said to her the men [will be] free we from oath your this which you made swear us.

18 Voici, quand nous entrerons au pays, tu lieras ce cordon de fil d'écarlate à la fenêtre par laquelle tu nous auras fait descendre, et tu retireras chez toi, dans cette maison ton père et ta mère, tes frères, et toute la famille de ton père.

Here! we [are] about to come in the land [the] cord of [the] thread of the scarlet this you will bind in the window which you let down us in it and father your and mother your and brothers your and all [the] household of father your you will gather to you the house towards.

19 Et quiconque sortira hors de la porte de ta maison, son sang sera sur sa tête, et nous en serons quittes; mais quiconque sera avec toi, dans la maison, son sang sera sur notre tête si quelqu'un met la main sur lui.

And it will be every [one] who he will go out from [the] doors of house your - the outside towards blood his [will be] on own head his and we [will be] free and every [one] who he will be with you in the house blood his [will be] on head our if a hand it will be on him.

20 Que si tu nous décèles en cette affaire, nous serons quittes du serment que tu nous as fait faire.

And if you will tell business our this and we will be free from oath your which you made swear us.

21 Et elle répondit: Que cela soit ainsi que vous l'avez dit. Alors elle les laissa aller, et ils s'en allèrent; et elle lia le cordon de fil d'écarlate à la fenêtre.

And she said according to words your [be] so it and she sent off them and they went and she bound [the] cord of the scarlet in the window.

22 Et eux marchant arrivèrent à la montagne, et demeurèrent là trois jours, jusqu'à ce que ceux qui les poursuivaient fussent revenus, et ceux qui les poursuivaient cherchèrent dans tout le chemin, mais ils ne les trouvèrent point.

And they went and they came the hill country towards and they remained there three days until they returned the pursuers and they searched the pursuers in all the way and not they found [them].

23 Ainsi ces deux hommes s'en retournèrent, et descendirent de la montagne, et passèrent, et vinrent à Josué, fils de Nun, et lui récitèrent toutes les choses qui leur étaient arrivées.

And they returned [the] two the men and they went down from the hill country and they passed over and they came to Joshua [the] son of Nun and they recounted to him all the [things that] had found with them.

24 Et ils dirent à Josué: Certainement l'Eternel a livré tout le pays entre nos mains; et même tous les habitants du pays ont perdu courage à notre vue.

And they said to Joshua that he has given Yahweh in hand our all the land and also they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of us.
