1 Après que Jésus eut dit ces choses, il s'en alla avec ses Disciples au delà du torrent de Cédron, où il y avait un Jardin, dans lequel il entra avec ses Disciples.
When Yeshua had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the wadi of the Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered.
2 Or Judas qui le trahissait, connaissait aussi ce lieu-là, car Jésus s'y était souvent assemblé avec ses Disciples.
Now Yehudah, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Yeshua often met there with his disciples.
3 Judas donc ayant pris une compagnie de soldats, et des huissiers de la part des principaux Sacrificateurs et des Pharisiens, s'en vint là avec des lanternes et des flambeaux, et des armes.
Yehudah then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
4 Et Jésus sachant toutes les choses qui lui devaient arriver, s'avança, et leur dit: qui cherchez-vous?
Yeshua therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went forth, and said to them, "Who are you looking for?"
5 Ils lui répondirent: Jésus le Nazarien. Jésus leur dit: c'est moi. Et Judas qui le trahissait, était aussi avec eux.
They answered him, "Yeshua the Natsraya." Yeshua said to them, "I AM." Yehudah also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.
6 Or après que [Jésus] leur eut dit: c'est moi, ils reculèrent, et tombèrent par terre.
When therefore he said to them, "I AM," they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Il leur demanda une seconde fois: qui cherchez-vous? Et ils répondirent: Jésus le Nazarien.
Again therefore he asked them, "Who are you looking for?" They said, "Yeshua the Natsraya."
8 Jésus répondit: je vous ai dit que c'est moi; si donc vous me cherchez, laissez aller ceux-ci.
Yeshua answered, "I told you that I AM. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,"
9 C'était afin que la parole qu'il avait dite fût accomplie: je n'ai perdu aucun de ceux que tu m'as donnés.
that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, "Of those whom you have given me, I have lost none."
10 Or Simon Pierre ayant une épée, la tira, et en frappa un serviteur du souverain sacrificateur, et lui coupa l'oreille droite; et ce serviteur avait nom Malchus.
Shimon Kipha therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malek.
11 Mais Jésus dit à Pierre: remets ton épée au fourreau: ne boirai-je pas la coupe que le Père m'a donnée?
Yeshua therefore said to Kipha, "Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which the Father has given me, shall I not surely drink it?"
12 Alors la compagnie, le capitaine, et les huissiers des Juifs se saisirent de Jésus, et le lièrent.
So the detachment, the commanding officer, and the officers of the Jewish leaders, seized Yeshua and bound him,
13 Et ils l'emmenèrent premièrement à Anne: car il était beau-père de Caïphe, qui était le souverain Sacrificateur de cette année-là.
and led him to Khanan first, for he was father-in-law to Qayapha, who was high priest that year.
14 Or Caïphe était celui qui avait donné ce conseil aux Juifs, qu'il était utile qu'un homme mourût pour le peuple.
Now it was Qayapha who advised the Jewish leaders that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 Or Simon Pierre avec un autre Disciple suivait Jésus, et ce Disciple était connu du souverain Sacrificateur, et il entra avec Jésus dans la cour du souverain Sacrificateur.
Shimon Kipha followed Yeshua, as did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Yeshua into the court of the high priest;
16 Mais Pierre était dehors à la porte, et l'autre Disciple qui était connu du souverain Sacrificateur, sortit dehors, et parla à la portière, laquelle fit entrer Pierre.
but Kipha was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Kipha.
17 Et la servante qui était la portière, dit à Pierre: n'es-tu point aussi des Disciples de cet homme? Il dit: je n'en suis point.
Then the maid who kept the door said to Kipha, "Are you also one of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not."
18 Or les serviteurs et les huissiers ayant fait du feu, étaient là, parce qu'il faisait froid, et ils se chauffaient; Pierre aussi était avec eux, et se chauffait.
Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Kipha was with them, standing and warming himself.
19 Et le souverain Sacrificateur interrogea Jésus touchant ses Disciples, et touchant sa doctrine.
The high priest therefore asked Yeshua about his disciples, and about his teaching.
20 Jésus lui répondit: j'ai ouvertement parlé au monde; j'ai toujours enseigné dans la Synagogue et dans le Temple, où les Juifs s'assemblent toujours, et je n'ai rien dit en secret.
Yeshua answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jewish people come together. I said nothing in secret.
21 Pourquoi m'interroges-tu? interroge ceux qui ont ouï ce que je leur ai dit; voilà, ils savent ce que j'ai dit;
Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard what I spoke to them; surely they know what I said."
22 Quand il eut dit ces choses, un des huissiers qui se tenait là, donna un coup de sa verge à Jésus, en lui disant: est-ce ainsi que tu réponds au souverain Sacrificateur?
When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Yeshua with his hand, saying, "Do you answer the high priest like that?"
23 Jésus lui répondit: si j'ai mal parlé, rends témoignage du mal; et si j'ai bien parlé, pourquoi me frappes-tu?
Yeshua answered him, "If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?"
24 Or Anne l'avait envoyé lié à Caïphe, souverain Sacrificateur.
Khanan sent him bound to Qayapha, the high priest.
25 Et Simon Pierre était là, et se chauffait; et ils lui dirent: n'es-tu pas aussi de ses Disciples; il le nia, et dit: je n'en suis point.
Now Shimon Kipha was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, "You are not also one of his disciples, are you?" He denied it, and said, "I am not."
26 Et un des serviteurs du souverain Sacrificateur, parent de celui à qui Pierre avait coupé l'oreille, dit: ne t'ai-je pas vu au jardin avec lui?
One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Kipha had cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with him?"
27 Mais Pierre le nia encore, et incontinent le coq chanta.
Kipha therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.
28 Puis ils menèrent Jésus de chez Caïphe au Prétoire (or c'était le matin) mais ils n'entrèrent point au Prétoire, de peur qu'ils ne fussent souillés, et afin de pouvoir manger [l'agneau] de pâque.
They led Yeshua therefore from Qayapha into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.
29 C'est pourquoi Pilate sortit vers eux, et leur dit: quelle accusation portez-vous contre cet homme?
Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, "What accusation do you bring against this man?"
30 Ils répondirent, et lui dirent: si ce n'était pas un criminel, nous ne te l'eussions pas livré.
They answered him, "If this man weren't an evildoer, we would not have delivered him up to you."
31 Alors Pilate leur dit: prenez-le vous-mêmes, et jugez-le selon votre Loi. Mais les Juifs lui dirent: il ne nous est pas permis de faire mourir personne.
Pilate therefore said to them, "Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law." Therefore the Jewish leaders said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"
32 [Et cela arriva ainsi] afin que la parole que Jésus avait dite, fût accomplie, indiquant de quelle mort il devait mourir.
that the word of Yeshua might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
33 Pilate donc entra encore au Prétoire, et ayant appelé Jésus, il lui dit: es-tu le Roi des Juifs?
Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Yeshua, and said to him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"
34 Jésus lui répondit: dis-tu ceci de toi-même, ou sont-ce les autres qui [te] l'ont dit de moi?
Yeshua answered him, "Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?"
35 Pilate répondit: suis-je Juif? ta nation et les principaux Sacrificateurs t'ont livré à moi; qu'as-tu fait?
Pilate answered, "I'm not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?"
36 Jésus répondit: mon Règne n'est pas de ce monde; si mon Règne était de ce monde, mes gens combattraient afin que je ne fusse point livré aux Juifs; mais maintenant mon Règne n'est point d'ici-bas.
Yeshua answered, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I would not be delivered to the Jewish leaders. But now my Kingdom is not from here."
37 Alors Pilate lui dit: es-tu donc Roi? Jésus répondit: tu le dis, que je suis Roi; je suis né pour cela, et c'est pour cela que je suis venu au monde, afin que je rende témoignage à la vérité; quiconque est de la vérité, entend ma voix.
Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?" Yeshua answered, "You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."
38 Pilate lui dit: qu'est-ce que la vérité? Et quand il eut dit cela, il sortit encore vers les Juifs, et il leur dit: je ne trouve aucun crime en lui.
Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" When he had said this, he went out again to the Jewish leaders, and said to them, "I find no basis for a charge against him.
39 Or vous avez une coutume: [qui est] que je vous relâche un [prisonnier] à la fête de Pâque; voulez-vous donc que je vous relâche le Roi des Juifs?
But you have a custom, that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"
40 Et tous s'écrièrent encore, disant: non pas celui-ci, mais Barrabas; or Barrabas était un brigand.
Then they shouted again, saying, "Not this man, but Bar-Aba." Now Bar-Aba was a robber.
