Job 37
1 Mon cœur même à cause de cela est en émotion, et sort [comme] de sa place.
At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved upward out of its place.
2 Ecoutez attentivement et en tremblant le bruit qu'il fait, et le son éclatant qui sort de sa bouche.
Hear, O hear, the rattling of his thunder, and the storm's roar that goeth out of his mouth.
3 Il le fait aller sous tous les cieux, et son feu étincelant jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre.
Under the whole heavens he letteth it loose, and his lightning over the ends of the earth.
4 Après lui s'élève un grand bruit; il tonne de sa voix magnifique, et il ne tarde point après que sa voix a été ouïe.
Behind it roareth the thunder; he thundereth with his majestic voice; and he holdeth them not back when his voice is heard.
5 Le [Dieu] Fort tonne prodigieusement par sa voix, [et] il fait des choses grandes, que nous ne saurions comprendre.
God thundereth with his marvelous voice: he doth great things, which we cannot comprehend.
6 Car il dit à la neige: Sois sur la terre; et [il le dit aussi] à l'ondée de la pluie, à l'ondée, dis-je, des pluies de sa force.
For to the snow he saith, Be thou on the earth: likewise the pouring rain, and to the pouring rains of his strength.
7 Alors il fait que chacun se renferme chez soi pour reconnaître tous les gens qu'il a à son ouvrage.
He sealeth it on the hand of every man, that all men whom he hath made may know it.
8 Les bêtes se retirent dans les tanières, et se tiennent dans leurs repaires.
Then retire the beasts into [their] dens, and rest in their lairs.
9 Le vent orageux vient du fond du Midi; et le froid vient des vents du Septentrion.
Out of [his] chamber cometh the whirlwind, and out of the north, the cold.
10 Le [Dieu] Fort par son souffle donne la glace, et les eaux qui se répandaient au large, sont mises à l'étroit.
From the breathing of God ice is given, and the broad waters become solid.
11 Il lasse aussi la nuée à force d'arroser; et il écarte les nuées par sa lumière.
Also with moisture he loadeth the cloud; [and] he scattereth the cloud of his lightning;
12 Et elles font plusieurs tours selon ses desseins pour faire tout ce qu'il leur a commandé, sur la face de la terre habitable.
And it is turned round about by his guidance, to execute what he commandeth it upon the face of the world, the earth.
13 Il les fait venir, soit pour s'en servir de verge, soit pour la terre, soit pour répandre ses bienfaits.
Whether it be as a chastising rod—if this be destined for his earth—or for kindness, doth he cause it to come.
14 Fais attention à ceci, Job; arrête-toi; considère les merveilles du [Dieu] Fort.
Give ear unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider well the wonders of God.
15 Sais-tu comment Dieu les arrange, et comment il fait briller la lumière de sa nuée?
Dost thou know how God hath imposed [a law] on them, and [how] he hath caused the light of his cloud to shine?
16 Connais-tu le balancement des nuées, et les merveilles de celui qui est parfait en science?
Dost thou know aught about the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
17 Pourquoi tes vêtements sont chauds, quand il donne du relâche à la terre par le vent du Midi?
[Thou] who clothest thyself with warm garments, when He giveth the earth rest from the south wind?
18 As-tu étendu avec lui les cieux, qui sont fermes comme un miroir de fonte?
Hast thou with him spread out the skies, which are strong even as a molten mirror?
19 Montre-nous ce que nous lui dirons; car nous ne saurions rien dire par ordre à cause de nos ténèbres.
Let us know what we shall say unto him: we cannot set aught in order [before him] because of darkness.
20 Lui racontera-t-on quand j'aurai parlé? S'il y a un homme qui en parle, certainement il en sera englouti.
Can [all] be related of him, when I speak [ever so much]? or if a man talk [of him] even till he be swallowed up [in death]?
21 Et maintenant, on ne voit point la lumière, quand elle resplendit dans les cieux; après que le vent y a passé, et qu'il les a nettoyés.
Yet now men see not the light which is bright in the skies, when the wind hath passed along, and purified them.
22 [Et que le temps qui reluit comme] l'or, est venu du Septentrion. Il y a en Dieu une majesté redoutable.
The golden [light] that cometh out of the north: around God is terrible majesty.
23 C'est le Tout-puissant; on ne le saurait comprendre; il est grand en puissance, en jugement, et en abondance de justice; il n'opprime personne.
The Almighty, whom we cannot find out, excellent in power, and in justice, and abounding in righteousness, will not afflict:
24 C'est pourquoi les hommes le craignent; mais il ne les voit pas tous sages de cœur.
Therefore do men fear him; he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
