Jérémie 45

1 La parole que Jérémie le Prophète dit à Baruc fils de Nérija, quand il écrivait dans un livre ces paroles-là, de la bouche de Jérémie, en la quatrième année de Jéhojakim fils de Josias Roi de Juda, disant:

This is what Jeremiah the prophet told Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote out on a scroll these messages that Jeremiah dictated. (This happened in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah.)

2 Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, touchant toi, Baruc.

This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:

3 Tu as dit: malheur à moi! car l'Eternel a ajouté la tristesse à ma douleur; je me suis lassé dans mon gémissement, et je n'ai point trouvé de repos.

You've been complaining, saying, “I'm in so much trouble because the Lord has given me sorrow to make my pain worse! I've worn myself out with my groans. I can't get any relief.”

4 Tu lui diras ainsi: ainsi a dit l'Eternel: voici, je m'en vais détruire ce que j'ai bâti, et arracher ce que j'ai planté, [savoir] tout ce pays-ci.

This is what Jeremiah was told to say to Baruch: This is what the Lord says: Across the whole country I'm going to tear down what I have built and uproot what I have planted.

5 Et toi te chercherais-tu des grandeurs? Ne les cherche point; car voici, je m'en vais faire venir du mal sur toute chair, dit l'Eternel; mais je te donnerai ta vie pour butin, dans tous les lieux où tu iras.

So in your case, do you think you'll get special treatment? Stop looking for something like that! I'm going to bring disaster down on every living thing, declares the Lord. However, I promise you that your reward will be that you will continue living, wherever you go.
