Isaïe 60

1 Lève-toi, sois illuminée; car ta lumière est venue, et la gloire de l'Eternel s'est levée sur toi.

Arise, be enlightened, O Jerusalem: for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

2 Car voici, les ténèbres couvriront la terre, et l'obscurité couvrira les peuples; mais l'Eternel se lèvera sur toi, et sa gloire paraîtra sur toi.

For behold darkness shall cover the earth, and a mist the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

3 Et les nations marcheront à ta lumière, et les Rois à la splendeur qui se lèvera sur toi.

And the Gentiles shall walk in thy light, and kings in the brightness of thy rising.

4 Elève tes yeux à l'environ, et regarde; tous ceux-ci se sont assemblés, ils sont venus vers toi; tes fils viendront de loin, et tes filles seront nourries par des nourriciers, [étant portées] sur les côtés.

Lift up thy eyes round about, and see: all these are gathered together, they are come to thee: thy sons shall come from afar, and thy daughters shall rise up at thy side.

5 Alors tu verras, et tu seras éclairée, et ton cœur s'étonnera, et s'épanouira [de joie], quand l'abondance de la mer se sera tournée vers toi, et que la puissance des nations sera venue chez toi.

Then shalt thou see, and abound, and thy heart shall wonder and be enlarged, when the multitude of the sea shall be converted to thee, the. strength of the Gentiles shall come to thee.

6 Une abondance de chameaux te couvrira; les dromadaires de Madian et d'Hépha, et tous ceux de Séba viendront, ils apporteront de l'or et de l'encens, et publieront les louanges de l'Eternel.

The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Madian and Epha: all they from Saba shall come, bringing gold and frankincense: and shewing forth praise to the Lord.

7 Toutes les brebis de Kédar seront assemblées vers toi, les moutons de Nébajoth seront pour ton service; ils seront agréables étant offerts sur mon autel, et je rendrai magnifique la maison de ma gloire.

All the flocks of Cedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nabaioth shall minister to thee: they shall be offered upon my acceptable altar, and I will glorify the house of my majesty.

8 Quelles sont ces volées, épaisses comme des nuées, qui volent comme des pigeons à leurs trous?

Who are these, that fly as clouds, and as doves to their windows?

9 Car les Iles s'attendront à moi, et les navires de Tarsis les premiers, afin d'amener tes fils de loin, avec leur argent et leur or, pour l'amour du Nom de l'Eternel ton Dieu, et du Saint d'Israël, parce qu'il t'aura glorifiée.

For, the islands wait for me, and the ships of the sea in the beginning: that I may bring thy sons from afar: their silver, and their gold with them, to the name of the Lord thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

10 Et les fils des étrangers rebâtiront tes murailles, et leurs Rois seront employés à ton service; car je t'ai frappée en ma fureur, mais j'ai eu pitié de toi au temps de mon bon plaisir.

And the children of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister to thee: for in my wrath have I struck thee, and in my reconciliation have I had mercy upon thee.

11 Tes portes aussi seront continuellement ouvertes, elles ne seront fermées ni nuit ni jour, afin que les forces des nations te soient amenées, et que leurs Rois y soient conduits.

And thy gates shall be open continually: they shall not be shut day nor night, that the strength of the Gentiles may be brought to thee, and their kings may be brought.

12 Car la nation et le Royaume qui ne te serviront point, périront; et ces nations-là seront réduites en une entière désolation.

For the nation and the kingdom that will not serve thee, shall perish: and the Gentiles shall be wasted with desolation.

13 La gloire du Liban viendra vers toi, le sapin, l'orme, et le buis ensemble, pour rendre honorable le lieu de mon Sanctuaire; et je rendrai glorieux le lieu de mes pieds.

The glory of Libanus shall come to thee, the Ar tree, and the box tree, and the pine tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary: and I will glorify the place of my feet.

14 Même les enfants de ceux qui t'auront affligée viendront vers toi en se courbant; et tous ceux qui te méprisaient se prosterneront à tes pieds, et t'appelleront, La ville de l'Eternel, la Sion du Saint d'Israël.

And the children of them that afflict thee, shall come bowing down to thee, and all that slandered thee shall worship the steps of thy feet, and shall call thee the city of the Lord, the Sion of the Holy One of Israel.

15 Au lieu que tu as été délaissée et haïe, tellement qu'il n'y avait personne qui passât [parmi toi], je te mettrai dans une élévation éternelle, [et] dans une joie qui sera de génération en génération.

Because thou wast forsaken, and hated, and there was none that passed through thee, I will make thee to be an everlasting glory, a joy unto generation and generation:

16 Et tu suceras le lait des nations, et tu suceras la mamelle des Rois, et tu sauras que je suis l'Eternel ton Sauveur, et ton Rédempteur, le Puissant de Jacob.

And thou shalt suck the milk of the Gentiles, and thou shalt be nursed with the breasts of kings: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

17 Je ferai venir de l'or au lieu de l'airain, et je ferai venir de l'argent au lieu du fer, et de l'airain au lieu du bois, et du fer au lieu des pierres; et je ferai que la paix te gouvernera, et que tes exacteurs ne seront que justice.

For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver: and for wood brass, and for stones iron: and I will make thy visitation peace, and thy overseers justice.

18 On n'entendra plus parler de violence en ton pays, ni de dégât, ni de calamité en tes contrées, mais tu appelleras tes murailles, Salut, et tes portes, Louange.

Iniquity shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction in thy borders, and salvation shall possess thy walls, and praise thy gates.

19 Tu n'auras plus le soleil pour la lumière du jour, et la lueur de la lune ne t'éclairera plus; mais l'Eternel te sera pour lumière éternelle, et ton Dieu pour ta gloire.

Thou shalt no more have the sun for thy light by day, neither shall the brightness of the moon enlighten thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee for an everlasting light, and thy God for thy glory.

20 Ton soleil ne se couchera plus, et ta lune ne se retirera plus, car l'Eternel te sera pour lumière perpétuelle, et les jours de ton deuil seront finis.

Thy sun shall go down no more, and thy moon shall not decrease: for the Lord shall be unto thee for an everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

21 Et quant à ton peuple, ils seront tous justes; ils posséderont éternellement la terre; [savoir] le germe de mes plantes, l'œuvre de mes mains, pour y être glorifié.

And thy people shall be all just, they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hand to glorify me.

22 La petite [famille] croîtra jusqu'à mille [personnes], et la moindre deviendra une nation forte. Je suis l'Eternel, je hâterai ceci en son temps.

The least shall become a thousand, and a little one a most strong nation: I the Lord will suddenly do this thing in its time.
