Isaïe 38

1 En ces jours-là Ezéchias fut malade à la mort, et Esaïe le Prophète fils d'Amots vint vers lui, et lui dit; ainsi a dit l'Eternel; dispose de ta maison, car tu t'en vas mourir, et tu ne vivras plus.

In those days Hezekiah fell sick unto death; and there came unto him Isaiah the son of Amoz, the prophet, and said unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Give thy charge to thy house; for thou shalt die, and not live.

2 Alors Ezéchias tourna sa face contre la muraille, et fit sa prière à l'Eternel.

Then did Hezekiah turn his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord.

3 Et dit; souviens-toi maintenant je te prie, ô Eternel! comment j'ai marché devant toi en vérité et en intégrité de cœur, et comment j'ai fait ce qui t'était agréable; et Ezéchias pleura abondamment.

And he said, O Lord, I beseech thee remember now that I have walked before thee in truth, and with an undivided heart, and have done what is good in thy eyes. And Hezekiah wept aloud.

4 Or la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Esaïe, en disant;

Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,

5 Va, et dis à Ezéchias ainsi a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu de David ton père; j'ai exaucé ta prière, j'ai vu tes larmes; voici, je m'en vais ajouter quinze années à tes jours.

Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus hath said the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.

6 Et je te délivrerai de la main du Roi des Assyriens, toi et cette ville, et je garantirai cette ville.

And out of the hand of the king of Assyria will I deliver thee and this city; and I will shield this city.

7 Et ce signe t'est donné par l'Eternel, [pour faire voir] que l'Eternel accomplira cette parole qu'il a prononcée;

And this shall be unto thee the sign from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing which he hath spoken:

8 Voici, je m'en vais faire retourner l'ombre des degrés par lesquels elle est descendue au cadran d'Achaz, de dix degrés en arrière avec le soleil; et le soleil retourna de dix degrés par les degrés par lesquels il était descendu.

Behold, I will cause the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down on the dial of Achaz by the sun, to return backward ten degrees. So the sun returned ten degrees, by the degrees which he was gone down.

9 Or c'est ici l'Ecrit d'Ezéchias Roi de Juda, touchant ce qu'il fut malade, et qu'il fut guéri de sa maladie.

The writing of Hezekiah the king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness:

10 J'avais dit dans le retranchement de mes jours; je m'en irai aux portes du sépulcre, je suis privé de ce qui restait de mes années. (Sheol h7585)

I had said, In the midst of my days, must I enter the gates of the nether world; I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol h7585)

11 J'avais dit; je ne contemplerai plus l'Eternel, l'Eternel, dans la terre des vivants; je ne verrai plus personne avec les habitants du monde.

I had said, I shall not see the Lord, the Lord, in the land of the living: I shall not behold man any more among the inhabitants of the regions of death.

12 Ma durée s'en est allée, et a été transportée d'avec moi, comme une cabane de berger; j'ai tranché ma vie comme le tisserand [coupe sa toile]; il me coupera dès les pesnes: du matin au soir tu m'auras enlevé.

My dwelling is broken down, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off, like a weaver, my life; with pining sickness will he snatch me away: from day until night wilt thou make an end of me.

13 Je me proposais jusqu'au matin qu'il était comme un lion, qu'il briserait ainsi tous mes os; du matin au soir tu m'auras enlevé.

I waited [with patience] till morning, [whether] as a lion, so would he break all my bones: from day until night wilt thou make an end of me.

14 Je grommelais comme la grue, et [comme] l'hirondelle; je gémissais comme le pigeon; mes yeux défaillaient à force de regarder en haut; Seigneur, on me fait force, sois mon garant.

Like a swallow or a crane, so did I chirp; I did moan like a dove; my eyes were lifted up on high: O Lord, I am oppressed; grant me ease.

15 Que dirai-je? il m'a parlé; et lui même l'a fait; je m'en irai tout doucement, tous les ans de ma vie, dans l'amertume de mon âme.

What shall I speak? he hath promised it unto me, and he hath also accomplished it; I will make pilgrimages [to God's house] all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.

16 Seigneur, par ces choses-là on a la vie, et dans tout [ce qui est] en ces choses consiste la vie de mon esprit; ainsi tu me rétabliras, et me feras revivre.

O Lord, by these [things men] will live, and in all these [things] is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou give me health, and cause me to live.

17 Voici, dans ma paix une grande amertume m'était survenue, mais tu as embrassé ma personne, afin qu'elle ne tombât point dans la fosse de la pourriture; parce que tu as jeté tous mes péchés derrière ton dos.

Behold, for peace I had great bitterness; but thou hast, in loving my soul, delivered it from the pit of corruption; for thou hast cast behind thy back all my sins.

18 Car le sépulcre ne te célébrera point, la mort ne te louera point; ceux qui descendent en la fosse, ne s'attendent plus à ta vérité. (Sheol h7585)

For the nether world will not thank thee, death will not praise thee: they that go down into the pit will not hope for thy truth. (Sheol h7585)

19 Mais le vivant, le vivant, est celui qui te célébrera, comme moi aujourd'hui; le père conduira les enfants à la connaissance de ta vérité.

The living, the living alone shall thank thee, like me this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

20 L'Eternel m'est venu délivrer, et à cause de cela nous jouerons sur les instruments mes cantiques tous les jours de notre vie, dans la maison de l'Eternel.

The Lord is there to help me; therefore we will play my hymns all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.

21 Or Esaïe avait dit; qu'on prenne une masse de figues sèches, et qu'on en fasse une emplâtre sur l'ulcère, et il guérira.

And Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the inflammation, and he shall recover.

22 Et Ezéchias avait dit; quel est le signe que je monterai en la maison de l'Eternel?

And Hezekiah had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord?
