Isaïe 28
1 Malheur à la couronne de fierté, des ivrognes d'Ephraïm, la noblesse de la gloire duquel n'est qu'une fleur qui tombe; ceux qui sont sur le sommet de la grasse vallée sont étourdis de vin.
Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim [Fruit], and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!
2 Voici, le Seigneur [a en main] un fort et puissant homme, ressemblant à une tempête de grêle, à un tourbillon qui brise tout, à une tempête de grosses eaux débordées; il jettera [tout] par terre avec la main.
Behold, 'Adonay [Lord] has a mighty and strong one. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand.
3 La couronne de fierté et les ivrognes d'Ephraïm seront foulés aux pieds.
The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim [Fruit] will be trodden under foot.
4 Et la noblesse de sa gloire qui est sur le sommet de la grasse vallée ne sera qu'une fleur qui tombe; ils seront comme les fruits hâtifs avant l'Eté, lesquels incontinent que quelqu'un a vus, il les dévore dès qu'il les a dans sa main.
The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer; which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it.
5 En ce jour-là l'Eternel des armées sera pour couronne de noblesse, et pour diadème de gloire au résidu de son peuple.
In that day, Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies] will become a crown of glory, and a diadem ·crown· of beauty, to the residue of his people;
6 Et pour esprit de jugement à celui qui sera assis [sur le siège] de jugement; et pour force à ceux qui dans le combat feront retourner les [commis] jusques à la porte.
and a spirit of mishpat ·justice· to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
7 Mais ceux-ci aussi se sont oubliés dans le vin, et se sont fourvoyés dans la cervoise; le Sacrificateur et le Prophète se sont oubliés dans la cervoise; ils ont été engloutis par le vin, ils se sont fourvoyés a cause de la cervoise; ils se sont oubliés dans la vision, ils ont bronché dans le jugement.
They are lead astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error· with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet are lead astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error· with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They are lead astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error· in vision. They stumble in judgment.
8 Car toutes leurs tables ont été couvertes de ce qu'ils ont rendu et de leurs ordures; tellement qu'il n'y a plus de place.
For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness.
9 A qui enseignerait-on la science, et à qui ferait-on entendre l'enseignement? [ils sont comme] ceux qu'on vient de sevrer, et de retirer de la mamelle.
Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?
10 Car [il faut leur donner] commandement après commandement; commandement après commandement; ligne après ligne; ligne après ligne; un peu ici, un peu là.
For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.
11 C'est pourquoi il parlera à ce peuple-ci avec un bégayement de lèvres, et une langue étrangère.
But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and in another language;
12 Il lui avait dit; c'est ici le repos, que vous donniez du repos à celui qui est lassé, et c'est ici le soulagement; mais ils n'ont point voulu écouter.
to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to weary;” and “This is the refreshing;” yet they would not sh'ma ·hear obey·.
13 Ainsi la parole de l'Eternel leur sera commandement après commandement; commandement après commandement; ligne après ligne; ligne après ligne; un peu ici, un peu là; afin qu'ils aillent et tombent à la renverse, et qu'ils soient brisés; et afin qu'ils tombent dans le piége, et qu'ils soient pris.
Therefore Adonai’s word will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.
14 C'est pourquoi écoutez la parole de l'Eternel, vous hommes moqueurs, qui dominez sur ce peuple qui [est] à Jérusalem;
Therefore sh'ma ·hear obey· Adonai’s word, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem [City of peace]:
15 Car vous avez dit; nous avons fait accord avec la mort, et nous avons intelligence avec le sépulcre; quand le fléau débordé traversera, il ne viendra point sur nous, car nous avons mis le mensonge pour notre retraite, et nous nous sommes cachés sous la fausseté. (Sheol h7585)
“Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· with death, and with Sheol ·Place of the dead· are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’” (Sheol h7585)
16 C'est pourquoi ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel; voici je mettrai pour fondement une pierre en Sion, une pierre éprouvée, [la pierre] de l'angle le plus précieux, pour être un fondement solide; celui qui croira ne se hâtera point.
Therefore thus says 'Adonay Adonai [Lord Yahweh], “Behold, I lay in Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] for a foundation stone, a tried stone, a precious corner-stone of a sure foundation. He who trusts shall not act hastily.
17 Et je mettrai le jugement à l'équerre, et la justice au niveau; et la grêle détruira la retraite du mensonge, et les eaux inonderont le lieu où l'on se retirait.
I will make mishpat ·justice· the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.
18 Et votre accord avec la mort sera aboli, et votre intelligence avec le sépulcre ne tiendra point; quand le fléau débordé traversera, vous en serez foulés. (Sheol h7585)
Your covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol ·Place of the dead· shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it. (Sheol h7585)
19 Dès qu'il traversera il vous emportera; or il traversera tous les matins, de jour, et de nuit; et dès qu'on en entendra le bruit il n'y aura que remuement.
As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message.”
20 Car le lit sera trop court, et on ne pourra pas s'y étendre; et la couverture trop étroite quand on se voudra envelopper.
For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.
21 Parce que l'Eternel se lèvera comme en la montagne de Pératsim, et il sera ému comme dans la vallée de Gabaon, pour faire son œuvre, son œuvre extraordinaire, et pour faire son travail, son travail non accoutumé.
For Adonai will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.
22 Maintenant donc ne vous moquez [plus], de peur que vos liens ne soient renforcés, car j'ai entendu de par le Seigneur l'Eternel des armées une consomption, qui est même déterminée sur tout le pays.
Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have sh'ma ·heard obeyed· a decree of destruction from 'Adonay, Adonai Tzva'ot [Lord, Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies], on the whole earth.
23 Prêtez l'oreille, et écoutez ma voix; soyez attentifs, et écoutez mon discours.
Give ear, and sh'ma ·hear obey· my voice! Listen, and hear my speech!
24 Celui qui laboure pour semer, labourera-t-il tous les jours? ne cassera-t-il pas, et ne rompra-t-il pas les mottes de sa terre?
Does he who plows to sow plow continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods?
25 Quand il en aura égalé le dessus, ne sèmera-t-il pas la vesce; ne répandra-t-il pas le cumin, ne mettra-t-il pas le froment au meilleur endroit, et l'orge en son lieu assigné, et l'épeautre en son quartier?
When he has leveled its surface, does not he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in its place?
26 Parce que son Dieu l'instruit et l'enseigne touchant ce qu'il faut faire.
For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him.
27 Car on ne foule pas la vesce avec la herse, et on ne tourne point la roue du chariot sur le cumin; mais on bat la vesce avec la verge, et le cumin avec le bâton.
For the dill are not threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod.
28 Le [blé dont on fait le] pain se menuise, car [le laboureur] ne saurait jamais le fouler entièrement, et quoiqu'il l'écrase avec la roue de son chariot, néanmoins il ne le menuisera pas avec ses chevaux.
Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses don’t grind it.
29 Ceci aussi procède de l'Eternel des armées, qui est admirable en conseil, et magnifique en moyens.
This also comes out from Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies], who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
