Isaïe 26
1 En ce jour-là ce Cantique sera chanté au pays de Juda; nous avons une ville forte; la délivrance y sera mise pour muraille et pour avant-mur.
In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Iudah, We haue a strong citie: saluation shall God set for walles and bulwarkes.
2 Ouvrez les portes, et la nation juste, celle qui garde la fidélité, y entrera.
Open ye the gates that the righteous nation, which keepeth the trueth, may enter in.
3 C'est une délibération arrêtée, que tu conserveras la vraie paix; car on se confie en toi.
By an assured purpose wilt thou preserue perfite peace, because they trusted in thee.
4 Confiez-vous en l'Eternel à perpétuité; car le rocher des siècles est en l'Eternel Dieu.
Trust in the Lord for euer: for in the Lord God is strength for euermore.
5 Car il abaissera ceux qui habitent aux lieux haut élevés, il renversera la ville de haute retraite, il la renversera jusqu'en terre, il la réduira jusqu'à la poussière.
For hee will bring downe them that dwell on hie: the hie citie he will abase: euen vnto the ground wil he cast it downe, and bring it vnto dust.
6 Le pied marchera dessus; les pieds, [dis-je], des affligés, les plantes des chétifs [marcheront dessus].
The foote shall treade it downe, euen the feete of the poore, and the steppes of the needie.
7 Le sentier est uni au juste; tu dresses au niveau le chemin du juste.
The way of the iust is righteousnesse: thou wilt make equall the righteous path of the iust.
8 Aussi t'avons-nous attendu, ô Eternel! dans le sentier de tes jugements, et le désir de notre âme tend vers ton Nom, et vers ton mémorial.
Also we, O Lord, haue waited for thee in the way of thy iudgemets: the desire of our soule is to thy Name, and to the remembrance of thee.
9 De nuit je t'ai désiré [de] mon âme, et dès le point du jour je te rechercherai de mon esprit, qui est au dedans de moi; car lorsque tes jugements sont en la terre, les habitants de la terre habitable apprennent la justice.
With my soule haue I desired thee in the night, and with my spirit within mee will I seeke thee in the morning: for seeing thy iudgements are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world shall learne righteousnesse.
10 Est-il fait grâce au méchant? il n'en apprend point la justice, mais il agira méchamment en la terre de la droiture, et il ne regardera point à la majesté de l'Eternel.
Let mercie bee shewed to the wicked, yet hee will not learne righteousnesse: in the land of vprightnesse will he do wickedly, and will not beholde the maiestie of the Lord.
11 Eternel, ta main est-elle haut élevée? ils ne [l']aperçoivent point; [mais] ils [l']apercevront, et ils seront honteux à cause de la jalousie [que tu montres] en faveur de ton peuple; et le feu dont tu punis tes ennemis les dévorera.
O Lord, they will not beholde thine hie hande: but they shall see it, and bee confounded with the zeale of the people, and the fire of thine enemies shall deuoure them.
12 Eternel! tu nous procureras la paix: car aussi c'est toi qui prends soin de tout ce qui nous regarde.
Lord, vnto vs thou wilt ordeine peace: for thou also hast wrought all our workes for vs.
13 Eternel notre Dieu, d'autres Seigneurs que toi nous ont maîtrisés, [mais] c'est par toi [seul] que nous faisons mention de ton Nom.
O Lord our God, other lords beside thee, haue ruled vs, but we will remember thee onely, and thy Name.
14 Ils sont morts, ils ne vivront plus; ils sont trépassés, ils ne se relèveront point, parce que tu les as visités et exterminés, et que tu as fait périr toute mémoire d'eux.
The dead shall not liue, neither shall the dead arise, because thou hast visited and scattered them, and destroyed all their memorie.
15 Eternel, tu avais accru la nation, tu avais accru la nation, tu as été glorifié, [mais] tu les as jetés loin dans tous les bouts de la terre.
Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord: thou hast increased the nation: thou art made glorious: thou hast enlarged all the coastes of the earth.
16 Eternel, étant en détresse ils se sont rendus auprès de toi, ils ont supprimé leur humble requête quand ton châtiment a été sur eux.
Lord, in trouble haue they visited thee: they powred out a prayer when thy chastening was vpon them.
17 Comme celle qui est enceinte est en travail, et crie dans ses tranchées, lorsqu'elle est prête d'enfanter; tels avons-nous été à cause de ton courroux, ô Eternel!
Like as a woman with childe, that draweth neere to the trauaile, is in sorow, and cryeth in her paines, so haue we bene in thy sight, O Lord.
18 Nous avons conçu, et nous avons été en travail; nous avons comme enfanté du vent, nous ne saurions en aucune manière délivrer le pays, et les habitants de la terre habitable ne tomberaient point [par notre force].
We haue coceiued, we haue borne in paine, as though we should haue brought forth winde: there was no helpe in the earth, neither did the inhabitants of the world fall.
19 Tes morts vivront, [même] mon corps mort [vivra]; ils se relèveront. Réveillez-vous et vous réjouissez avec chant de triomphe, vous habitants de la poussière; car ta rosée est comme la rosée des herbes, et la terre jettera dehors les trépassés.
Thy dead men shall liue: euen with my body shall they rise. Awake, and sing, ye that dwel in dust: for thy dewe is as the dew of herbes, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
20 Va, mon peuple, entre dans tes cabinets, et ferme ta porte sur toi; cache-toi pour un petit moment, jusques à ce que l'indignation soit passée.
Come, my people: enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doores after thee: hide thy selfe for a very litle while, vntill the indignation passe ouer.
21 Car voici, l'Eternel s'en va sortir de son lieu pour visiter l'iniquité des habitants de la terre, [commise] contre lui; alors la terre découvrira le sang qu'elle aura reçu, et ne couvrira plus ceux qu'on a mis à mort.
For lo, the Lord commeth out of his place, to visite the iniquitie of the inhabitants of the earth vpon them: and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall no more hide her slaine.
