Isaïe 23
1 La charge de Tyr. Hurlez, navires de Tarsis, car elle est détruite, il n'y a plus de maisons, on n'y viendra plus; ceci leur a été découvert du pays de Chittim.
A declaration about Tyre: Howl, you ships of Tarshish; for there is neither home nor harbor; from the land of Cyprus it has been revealed to them.
2 Vous qui habitez dans l'Ile, taisez-vous; toi qui étais remplie de marchands de Sidon, et de ceux qui traversaient la mer.
Be silent, you inhabitants of the coast; the merchant of Sidon, who travels over the sea, has filled you.
3 Les grains de Sihor [qui viennent] parmi les grandes eaux, la moisson du fleuve, était son revenu, et elle était la foire des nations.
Upon the great waters was the grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile was her produce; and it became the commerce of the nations.
4 Sois honteuse, ô Sidon! car la mer, la forteresse de la mer, a parlé, en disant; je n'ai point été en travail d'enfant, et je n'ai point enfanté, et je n'ai point nourri de jeunes gens, ni élevé aucunes vierges.
Be ashamed, Sidon; for the sea has spoken, the mighty one of the sea. He says, “I have not labored nor given birth, nor have I raised young men nor brought up young women.”
5 Selon le bruit qui a été touchant l'Egypte, ainsi sera-t-on en travail quand on entendra le bruit touchant Tyr.
When the report comes to Egypt, they will be grieved concerning Tyre.
6 Passez en Tarsis, hurlez, vous qui habitez dans les Iles.
Cross over to Tarshish; wail, you inhabitants of the coast.
7 N'est-ce pas ici votre [ville] qui s'égayait? celle dont l'ancienneté est de fort longtemps sera portée bien loin par ses propres pieds, pour séjourner en un pays étranger.
Has this happened to you, the joyful city, whose origin is from ancient times, whose feet carried her far away to foreign places to settle?
8 Qui a pris ce conseil contre Tyr, laquelle couronne [les siens], de laquelle les marchands sont des Princes, et dont les facteurs sont les plus honorables de la terre?
Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the honored ones of the earth?
9 L'Eternel des armées a pris ce conseil, pour flétrir l'orgueil de toute la noblesse, et pour avilir tous les plus honorables de la terre.
Yahweh of hosts has planned it to dishonor her pride and all her glory, to shame all her honored ones of the earth.
10 Traverse ton pays comme une rivière, ô fille de Tarsis; il n'y a plus de ceinture.
Plow your land, as one plows the Nile, daughter of Tarshish. There is no longer a marketplace in Tyre.
11 Il a étendu sa main sur la mer, et a fait trembler les Royaumes; l'Eternel a donné ordre à un marchand de détruire ses forteresses.
Yahweh has reached out with his hand over the sea, and he has shaken the kingdoms; he has given a command concerning Phoenicia, to destroy the strongholds.
12 Et il a dit; tu ne continueras plus à t'égayer, étant opprimée, vierge, fille de Sidon. Lève-toi, traverse en Chittim; encore n'y aura-t-il point là de repos pour toi.
He said, “You will not rejoice again, oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon; arise, pass over to Cyprus; but neither there you will have rest.”
13 Voilà le pays des Chaldéens; ce peuple-là n'était pas [autrefois]; Assur l'a fondé pour les gens de marine; on a dressé ses forteresses, on a élevé ses palais, et il l'a mis en ruine.
See the land of the Chaldeans. This people has ceased to be; the Assyrians have made it a wilderness for wild animals. They set up their siege towers; they demolished its palaces; they made it a heap of ruins.
14 Hurlez, navires de Tarsis; car votre force est détruite.
Howl, you ships of Tarshish; for your refuge has been destroyed.
15 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, que Tyr sera mise en oubli durant soixante-dix ans, selon les jours d'un Roi; [mais] au bout de soixante-dix ans on chantera une chanson à Tyr comme à une femme prostituée.
In that day, Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, like the days of a king. After the end of seventy years there will happen in Tyre something like in the song of the prostitute.
16 Prends la harpe, environne la ville, ô prostituée, qui avais été mise en oubli, sonne avec force, chante et rechante, afin qu'on se ressouvienne de toi.
Take a harp, go about the city, you forgotten prostitute; play it well, sing many songs, so that you may be remembered.
17 Et il arrivera au bout de soixante-dix ans, que l'Eternel visitera Tyr, mais elle retournera au salaire de sa prostitution, et elle se prostituera avec tous les Royaumes des pays qui [sont] sur le dessus de la terre.
It will come about that after seventy years, Yahweh will help Tyre, and she will start making money again by doing the work of a prostitute, and she will offer her services to all the kingdoms of the earth.
18 Et son trafic et son salaire sera sanctifié à l'Eternel; il n'en sera rien réservé, ni serré; car son trafic sera pour ceux qui habitent en la présence de l'Eternel, pour en manger jusques à être rassasiés, et pour avoir des habits de longue durée.
Her profits and earnings will be set apart to Yahweh. They will not be stored up or kept in the treasury, for her profits will be given to those who live in Yahweh's presence and will be used to supply them with abundant food and so they can have the best quality clothing.
