Isaïe 21
1 La charge du désert de la mer. Il vient du désert, de la terre épouvantable, comme des Tourbillons qui s'élèvent au pays du Midi, pour traverser.
The oracle on the desert of the sea: As storm-winds in the South which with a rush from the desert, do come from a terrible land,
2 Une dure vision m'a été déclarée. Le perfide demeure perfide; celui qui saccage, saccage [toujours]. Hélamites, montez; Mèdes, assiégez; j'ai fait cesser tous ses soupirs.
[So] hath, a grievous vision, been told me: —the deceiver, is deceiving. And the spoiler, is spoiling, Go up, O Elam Besiege O Media, All the sighing she hath caused, have I made to cease.
3 C'est pourquoi mes reins ont été remplis de douleur; les angoisses m'ont saisi, comme les angoisses de celle qui enfante; je me suis tourmenté à cause de ce que j'ai ouï, et j'ai été tout troublé à cause de ce que j'ai vu;
For this cause, are my loins filled with anguish, Pangs, have seized me, as the pangs of her that is giving birth, —I writhe so that I cannot hear, I tremble, so that I cannot see:
4 Mon cœur a été agité de toutes parts, et un tremblement m'a épouvanté; on m'a rendu horrible la nuit de mes plaisirs.
My heart fluttereth, A horror, terrifieth me, —My twilight of pleasure, hath he turned for me into a time of trembling.
5 Qu'on dresse la table, qu'on fasse le guet, qu'on mange, qu'on boive; levez-vous, Capitaines, oignez le bouclier.
[Ye thought] to prepare the table—spread the mat—eat—drink! …Arise ye chieftains anoint the shield!
6 Car ainsi me dit le Seigneur; va, pose la sentinelle, et qu'elle rapporte ce qu'elle verra.
For, thus, hath My Lord said unto me, —Go, set the watchman, What he seeth, let him tell!
7 Et elle vit un chariot, une couple de gens de cheval, un chariot tiré par des ânes, et un chariot tiré par des chameaux, et elle les considéra fort attentivement.
When he seeth A train of horsemen in double rank, A train of asses, A train of camels, Then shall he hearken attentively with diligent heed.
8 Et cria; C'est un lion; Seigneur, je me tiens en sentinelle continuellement de jour, et je me tiens en ma garde toutes les nuits.
Then cried he. A lion! On the watch, O My Lord, had I been standing continually, by day, And at my post, had I been stationed whole nights; —
9 Et voici venir le chariot d'un homme, une paire de gens de cheval. Alors elle parla, et dit; Elle est tombée, elle est tombée, Babylone; et toutes les images taillées de ses dieux ont été brisées par terre.
When lo! here was a train of men coming. With horsemen in double rank, —And one began and said, Fallen! fallen! is Babylon, And all the images of her gods, are smashed to the ground!
10 C'est ce que j'ai foulé, et le grain que j'ai battu dans mon aire. Je vous ai annoncé ce que j'ai ouï de l'Eternel des armées, du Dieu d'Israël.
O thou My threshing! And the grain of my corn-floor! That which I have heard from Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, Have I declared, unto you.
11 La charge de Duma. On crie à moi de Séhir; ô sentinelle! qu'y a-t-il depuis le soir? ô sentinelle! qu'y a-t-il depuis la nuit?
The oracle on Dumah: Unto me, is one crying—out of Seir, Watchman! how far gone is the night? Watchman, how far gone is the night?
12 La sentinelle a dit; Le matin est venu, mais il s'en va être nuit; si vous demandez, demandez: retournez, venez.
Said the watchman, There cometh a morning. But also a night, —If ye will enquire, enquire, ye—Come, again!
13 La charge contre l'Arabie. Vous passerez pêle-mêle la nuit dans la forêt, troupes de Dédanim;
The oracle on Arabia, —Among the shrubs in Arabia, must ye lodge, Ye caravans of Dedanites.
14 Eaux, venez au-devant de celui qui a soif; les habitants du pays de Téma sont venus au-devant de celui qui s'en allait errant çà et là avec du pain pour lui.
To meet the thirsty, bring ye water, —Ye dwellers in the land of Tema; With bread for him, get in advance of him that is in flight!
15 Car ils s'en sont allés errant çà et là de devant les épées, de devant l'épée dégainée, et de devant l'arc tendu, et de devant le fort de la bataille.
For, before swords, have they fled: Before a sword that is drawn, Before a bow that is bent, And before the stress of war.
16 Car ainsi m'a dit le Seigneur; dans un an, tels que sont les ans d'un mercenaire, toute la gloire de Kédar prendra fin.
For, thus, hath My Lord said unto me, —Within a year according to the yearn of a hireling, shall fail all the glory of Kedar;
17 Et le reste du nombre des forts archers des enfants de Kédar sera diminué; car l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël a parlé.
And, the remnant of the record of bowmen, The heroes of the sons of Kedar, shall become few; For Yahweh God of Israel, hath spoken.
