Osée 2
1 Appelez vos frères Hammi, et vos sœurs Ruhama.
Say ye unto your brethren, O Ammi ["O my people"], and unto your sisters, O Ruhamah ["O compassionated one"]:
2 Plaidez, plaidez avec votre mère, car elle n'[est] point ma femme, et aussi ne suis-je point son mari; et qu'elle ôte ses prostitutions de devant elle, et ses adultères de son sein.
Contend ye with your mother, contend, for she is no wife of mine, and I am no husband of hers, Let her then put away her paramours from before her, and her partners in adultery, from her embraces:
3 De peur que je ne manifeste sa nudité, que je ne la remette dans l'état où elle était le jour qu'elle naquit, que je ne la réduise en désert, et que je ne la fasse être comme une terre sèche, et ne la fasse mourir de soif.
Lest I strip off her under-clothing, and set her forth to view, as in the day she was born, —and make her like a wilderness, and render her like a land that is parched, and suffer her to die of thirst;
4 Et que je n'use point de miséricorde envers ses enfants, car ce sont des enfants de prostitution.
And, on her children, not have compassion, —because, the children of paramours, they are.
5 Parce que leur mère s'est prostituée, celle qui les a conçus s'est déshonorée, car elle a dit: Je m'en irai après ceux que j'aime, qui me donnent mon pain et mes eaux, ma laine, et mon lin, mon huile, et mes boissons.
For their mother, hath been unchaste, and she that conceived them, hath caused shame, —for she said, Let me go after my lovers! who used to give my bread, and my water, my wool, and my flax, mine oil, and my drink.
6 C'est pourquoi, voici, je boucherai d'épines ton chemin, et je ferai une cloison de pierres, en sorte qu'elle ne trouvera point ses sentiers.
Therefore, behold me! hedging up her way, with thorns, —and I will wall her in, and, her footpaths, shall she not find.
7 Elle ira donc vers ceux dont elle recherche l'amitié; mais elle ne les atteindra point; elle les cherchera, mais elle ne les trouvera point; et elle dira: Je m'en irai et retournerai à mon premier mari, car alors j'étais mieux que je ne suis maintenant.
And, when she shall pursue her lovers, and not overtake them, and shall seek them and not find, then will she say, Let me go my way now! and return unto my first husband, for it was better with me, then, than, now!
8 Mais elle n'a point connu que c'était moi qui lui avais donné le froment, et le vin, et l'huile, et qui lui avais multiplié l'argent et l'or dont ils ont fait un Bahal.
But, she, owneth not, that, I, gave her—the corn, and the new wine and the oil, —silver, also increased I unto her, and gold—[which] they offered to Baal!
9 C'est pourquoi je viendrai à reprendre mon froment en son temps, et mon vin en sa saison, et je retirerai ma laine et mon lin qui couvraient sa nudité.
Therefore, will I again take away my corn, in the time thereof, and my new wine, in the season thereof, —and will recover my wool and my flax [given] to hide her shame.
10 Et maintenant je découvrirai sa turpitude devant les yeux de ceux qui l'aiment, et personne ne la délivrera de ma main.
Now, therefore, will I expose her unseemliness, before the eyes of her lovers, —and no, man, shall deliver her out of my hand!
11 Je ferai cesser toute sa joie, ses fêtes, ses nouvelles lunes, ses Sabbats, et toutes ses solennités.
And I will cause to cease all her mirth, her pilgrim-festival, her new moon and her sabbath, —and her every appointed meeting;
12 Et je gâterai ses vignobles, et ses figuiers, desquels elle a dit: Ce sont ici mes salaires que ceux qui m'aiment m'ont donnés; et je les réduirai en forêt, et les bêtes des champs les dévoreront.
And will lay waste her vine and her fig- tree, as to which she hath said, A present, are they for myself, which my lovers, have given me, —and I will make of them a thicket, and the wild beasts of the field shall devour them.
13 Et je visiterai sur elle les jours des Bahalins, durant lesquels elle leur faisait des parfums, et se parait de ses bagues et de ses joyaux, et s'en allait après ceux qui l'aimaient, et m'oubliait, dit l'Eternel.
So will I visit upon her the days of the Baals, unto whom she used to burn incense, and decked herself with her nose-ring and her jewelry, and went her way after her lovers, —whereas, me, she forgat, Declareth Yahweh.
14 Néanmoins, voici, je l'attirerai après que je l'aurai promenée par le désert, et je lui parlerai selon son cœur.
Therefore, lo! I, am going to persuade her, and, though I conduct her forth into wilderness, yet will I speak unto her heart.
15 Et je lui donnerai ses vignes, depuis ce lieu-là, et la vallée de Hachor, pour l'entrée de son attente, et elle y chantera comme au temps de sa jeunesse, et comme lorsqu'elle remonta du pays d'Egypte.
Then will I give to her her vineyards from thence, and the vale of Achor ["trouble"] for a door of hope, —and she will respond there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
16 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel, que tu m'appelleras, Mon mari, et que tu ne m'appelleras plus, Mon Bahal.
And it shall come to pass, in that day, Declareth Yahweh, that she will call me Ishi ["My husband"], and will not call me any more, Baali ["Mine owner"].
17 Car j'ôterai de sa bouche les noms des Bahalins, et on n'en fera plus mention par leur nom.
So will I take away the names of the Baals, out of her mouth, —and they shall not be called to mind any more, by their name.
18 Aussi en ce temps-là je traiterai pour eux une alliance avec les bêtes des champs, et avec les oiseaux des cieux, et avec les reptiles de la terre; et je briserai [et j'ôterai] du pays, l'arc, et l'épée, et la guerre, et je les ferai dormir en sûreté.
And I will solemnize to them a covenant, in that day, with the wild-beast of the field, and with the bird of the heavens, and the creeping thing of the ground, —and, bow and sword and battle, will I break in pieces out of the land, so will I cause them to lie down, in security.
19 Et je t'épouserai pour moi à toujours; je t'épouserai, dis-je, pour moi, en justice, et en jugement, et en gratuité, et en compassions.
And I will take thee unto myself, unto times age-abiding, —yea I will take thee unto myself, in righteousness and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in abounding compassion:
20 Même je t'épouserai en fermeté, et tu connaîtras l'Eternel.
Yea I will take thee unto myself, in faithfulness, —So shalt thou know Yahweh.
21 Et il arrivera en ce temps-là que je répondrai, dit l'Eternel, que je répondrai aux cieux, et les cieux répondront à la terre.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will respond, Declareth Yahweh, I will respond to the heavens, —and, they, shall respond to the earth;
22 Et la terre répondra au froment, au bon vin, et à l'huile; et eux répondront à Jizréhel.
And, the earth, shall respond to the corn, and to the new wine and to the oil, —and, they, shall respond to Jezreel ["Whom GOD scattereth," "Whom GOD soweth"].
23 Puis je la sèmerai pour moi en la terre, et je ferai miséricorde à Lo-ruhama; et je dirai à Lo-hammi, tu es mon peuple; et il me dira, mon Dieu.
So will I sow her unto me in the land, and will have compassion upon the uncompassionated one ["Lo-ruhamah"], —and will say to him who was No-people-of-mine ["Lo-ammi"], My people, thou art, and, he, shall say, My God!
