Osée 14
1 Israël, retourne-toi jusqu'à l'Eternel ton Dieu; car tu es tombé par ton iniquité.
Return, O Israel, even unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast stumbled through thy iniquity.
2 Prenez avec vous ce que vous avez à dire, et retournez-vous à l'Eternel, et lui dites: Ote toute l'iniquité, et prends le bien, [pour le mettre en sa place], et nous [te] rendrons les bouveaux de nos lèvres.
Take with you swords, and return to the Lord: say unto him, “Pardon all [our] iniquity, and accept [our return to] good; and let us repay the steers [of sacrifice] with [the prayer of] our lips.
3 L'Assyrie ne nous délivrera pas; nous ne monterons plus sur des chevaux, et nous ne dirons plus à l'ouvrage de nos mains: [Vous êtes] nos dieux; car l'orphelin trouve compassion devant toi.
Asshur shall not help us; upon horses will we not ride: and we will no more say, Ye are our gods, to the work of our hands; for in thee alone the fatherless obtaineth mercy.”
4 Je guérirai leur rébellion, et les aimerai volontairement; parce que ma colère est détournée d'eux.
I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from them.
5 Je serai comme une rosée à Israël; il fleurira comme le lis, et jettera ses racines comme [les arbres] du Liban.
I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall bloom as the lily; and he shall strike his roots as [the forests of] Lebanon.
6 Ses branches s'avanceront, et sa magnificence sera comme celle de l'olivier, et son odeur comme celle du Liban.
His suckers shall spread out, and his beauty shall be as that of the olive-tree, and his smell as that of the Lebanon.
7 Ils retourneront pour se tenir assis sous son ombre, et ils foisonneront [comme] le froment, et fleuriront comme la vigne, et l'odeur de chacun d'eux sera comme celle du vin du Liban.
They shall return that sat under his shade; they shall revive as corn, and bloom as the vine: the scent of which shall be as that of the wine of Lebanon.
8 Ephraïm [dira]: Qu'ai-je plus à faire avec les faux dieux? Je l'exaucerai, et le regarderai; je lui serai comme le sapin vert, ton fruit procédera de moi.
Ephraim [shall say], What have I to do any more with idols? I have answered, and will observe him; I will be [to him] like a green fir-tree; through me is thy fruit found.
9 Qui est celui qui est sage? qu'il entende ces choses; et qui est celui qui est prudent? qu'il les connaisse; car les voies de l'Eternel sont droites; aussi les justes y marcheront, mais les rebelles y tomberont.
Who is wise, that he may understand these things? intelligent, that he may know them? for righteous are the ways of the Lord; and the just shall walk in them; but the transgressors will stumble through them.
