Genèse 34
1 Or Dina, la fille que Léa avait enfantée à Jacob, sortit pour voir les filles du pays.
And she went out Dinah [the] daughter of Leah whom she had borne to Jacob to look on [the] daughters of the land.
2 Et Sichem, fils d'Hémor Hévien, Prince du pays, la vit, et l'enleva, et coucha avec elle, et la força.
And he saw her Shechem [the] son of Hamor the Hivite [the] chief of the land and he took her and he lay with with her and he humiliated her.
3 Et son cœur fut attaché à Dina fille de Jacob, et il aima la jeune fille, et parla selon le cœur de la jeune fille.
And it cleaved self his to Dinah [the] daughter of Jacob and he loved the girl and he spoke to [the] heart of the girl.
4 Sichem aussi parla à Hémor son père, en disant: Prends-moi cette fille pour être ma femme.
And he said Shechem to Hamor father his saying get for me the girl this to a wife.
5 Et Jacob apprit qu'il avait violé Dina sa fille. Or ses fils étaient avec son bétail aux champs; et Jacob se tut jusqu'à ce qu'ils fussent revenus.
And Jacob he heard that he had defiled Dinah daughter his and sons his they were with livestock his in the field and he kept silent Jacob until came they.
6 Et Hémor, père de Sichem vint à Jacob pour parler avec lui.
And he went out Hamor [the] father of Shechem to Jacob to speak with him.
7 Et les fils de Jacob étant revenus des champs, et ayant appris [ce qui était arrivé], ils en eurent une grande douleur, et furent fort irrités de l'infamie que [Sichem] avait commise contre Israël, en couchant avec la fille de Jacob, ce qui ne se devait point faire.
And [the] sons of Jacob they came from the field when heard they and they were indignant the men and it burned to them exceedingly for a disgraceful folly he had done in Israel by lying with [the] daughter of Jacob and thus not it is done.
8 Et Hémor leur parla, en disant: Sichem mon fils a mis son affection en votre fille; donnez-la-lui, je vous prie, pour femme.
And he spoke Hamor with them saying Shechem son my it loves self his daughter your give please her to him to a wife.
9 Et alliez-vous avec nous, donnez-nous vos filles, et prenez nos filles pour vous.
And intermarry with with us daughters your you will give to us and daughters our you will take for yourselves.
10 Et habitez avec nous, et le pays sera à votre disposition; demeurez-y, et y trafiquez, et ayez-y des possessions.
And with us you will dwell and the land it will be before you dwell and go about in it and have possessions in it.
11 Sichem dit aussi au père et aux frères de la fille: Que je trouve grâce devant vous, et je donnerai tout ce que vous me direz.
And he said Shechem to father her and to brothers her let me find favor in view your and [that] which you will say to me I will give.
12 Demandez-moi telle dot, et tel présent que vous voudrez, et je les donnerai comme vous me direz; et donnez-moi la jeune fille pour femme.
Increase on me exceedingly a bride price and a gift so let me give [it] just as you will say to me and give to me the girl to a wife.
13 Alors les enfants de Jacob répondirent à Sichem et à Hémor son père; et agissant avec ruse (parce qu'il avait violé Dina leur sœur: )
And they answered [the] sons of Jacob Shechem and Hamor father his with deceit and they spoke that he had defiled Dinah sister their.
14 Ils leur dirent: Nous ne pourrons point faire cela, de donner notre sœur à un homme incirconcis; car ce nous serait un opprobre.
And they said to them not we are able to do the thing this to give sister our to a man whom [belongs] to him a foreskin for [is] a reproach it to us.
15 Mais nous nous accommoderons avec vous, pourvu que vous deveniez semblables à nous en circoncisant tous les mâles qui sont parmi vous.
Only in this we will agree to you if you will be like us by being circumcised of you every male.
16 Alors nous vous donnerons nos filles, et nous prendrons vos filles pour nous, et nous demeurerons avec vous, et nous ne serons qu'un seul peuple.
And we will give daughters our to you and daughters your we will take for ourselves and we will dwell with you and we will become a people one.
17 Mais si vous ne consentez pas d'être circoncis, nous prendrons notre fille, et nous nous en irons.
And if not you will listen to us by being circumcised and we will take daughter our and we will go.
18 Et leurs discours plurent à Hémor et à Sichem, fils d'Hémor.
And they were good words their in [the] eyes of Hamor and in [the] eyes of Shechem [the] son of Hamor.
19 Et le jeune homme ne différa point à faire [ce qu'on lui avait proposé]; car la fille de Jacob lui agréait beaucoup; et il était le plus considéré de tous ceux de la maison de son père.
And not he delayed the young man to do the thing for he delighted in [the] daughter of Jacob and he [was] honored more than all [the] household of father his.
20 Hémor donc et Sichem son fils vinrent à la porte de leur ville, et parlèrent aux gens de leur ville, en leur disant:
And he went Hamor and Shechem son his to [the] gate of city their and they spoke to [the] men of city their saying.
21 Ces gens-ci sont paisibles, ils sont avec nous; qu'ils habitent au pays, et qu'ils y trafiquent; car voici, le pays est d'une assez grande étendue pour eux. Nous prendrons leurs filles pour nos femmes, et nous leur donnerons nos filles.
The men these [are] at peace they with us and let them dwell in the land and let them go about in it and the land there! [is] broad of both hands before them daughters their we will take for ourselves to wives and daughters our we will give to them.
22 Et ces gens s'accommoderont à nous en ceci pour habiter avec nous, [et] pour devenir un même peuple; pourvu que tout mâle qui est parmi nous soit circoncis, comme ils sont circoncis.
Only in this they will agree to us the men to dwell with us to become a people one when has been circumcised of us every male just as they [are] circumcised.
23 Leur bétail, et leurs biens, et toutes leurs bêtes, ne seront-ils pas à nous? Seulement accommodons-nous à eux, et qu'ils demeurent avec nous.
Livestock their and possession[s] their and all animal[s] their ¿ not [belong] to us [will] they only let us agree with them and let them dwell with us.
24 Et tous ceux qui sortaient par la porte de leur ville obéirent à Hémor, et à Sichem son fils; et tout mâle d'entre tous ceux qui sortaient par la porte de leur ville fut circoncis.
And they listened to Hamor and to Shechem son his all [those who] went out of [the] gate of city his and they were circumcised every male all [those who] went out of [the] gate of city his.
25 Mais il arriva au troisième jour, quand ils étaient dans la douleur, que deux des enfants de Jacob, Siméon et Lévi, frères de Dina, ayant pris leurs épées, entrèrent hardiment dans la ville, et tuèrent tous les mâles.
And it was on the day third when were they in pain and they took two of [the] sons of Jacob Simeon and Levi [the] brothers of Dinah each sword his and they went on the city security and they killed every male.
26 Ils passèrent aussi au tranchant de l'épée Hémor et Sichem son fils, et emmenèrent Dina de la maison de Sichem, et sortirent.
And Hamor and Shechem son his they slew to [the] mouth of [the] sword and they took Dinah from [the] house of Shechem and they went out.
27 Et ceux-là étant tués, les fils de Jacob vinrent, et pillèrent la ville, parce qu'on avait violé leur sœur.
[the] sons of Jacob they came on the [ones] slain and they plundered the city that people had defiled sister their.
28 Et ils prirent leurs troupeaux, leurs bœufs, leurs ânes, et ce qui était dans la ville, et aux champs:
Flock[s] their and herd[s] their and donkeys their and [that] which [was] in the city and [that] which [was] in the field they took.
29 Et tous leurs biens, et tous leurs petits enfants, et emmenèrent prisonnières leurs femmes; et les pillèrent, avec tout ce qui était dans les maisons.
And all wealth their and all little one[s] their and wives their they took captive and they plundered and all that [was] in the house.
30 Alors Jacob dit à Siméon et Lévi: Vous m'avez troublé, en me mettant en mauvaise odeur parmi les habitants du pays, tant Cananéens que Phéréziens, et je n'ai que peu de gens; ils s'assembleront donc contre moi, et me frapperont, et me détruiront, moi et ma maison.
And he said Jacob to Simeon and to Levi you have troubled me by making odious me among [the] inhabitant[s] of the land among the Canaanite[s] and among the Perizzite[s] and I [am] men of number and they will gather on me and they will attack me and I will be destroyed I and household my.
31 Et ils répondirent: Fera-t-on de notre sœur comme d'une paillarde?
And they said ¿ like a prostitute will he use sister our.
