Genèse 33
1 Et Jacob levant ses yeux regarda; et voici, Esaü venait, et quatre cents hommes avec lui; et [Jacob] divisa les enfants [en trois bandes, savoir] sous Léa, et sous Rachel, et sous les deux servantes.
Forsothe Jacob reiside hise iyen, and seiy Esau comynge, and foure hundrid men with hym; and he departide the sones of Lia, and of Rachel, and of bothe seruauntessis.
2 Et il mit à la tête les servantes avec leurs enfants; Léa et ses enfants après; et Rachel et Joseph les derniers.
And he puttide euer either handmaide, and the fre children of hem, in the bigynnyng; sotheli he puttide Lia, and her sones, in the secounde place; forsothe he puttide Rachel and Joseph the laste.
3 Et il passa devant eux, et se prosterna en terre par sept fois, jusqu'à ce qu'il fût proche de son frère.
And Jacob yede bifore, and worschipide lowli to erthe seuensithis, til his brothir neiyede.
4 Mais Esaü courut au-devant de lui, et l'embrassa, et se jetant sur son cou le baisa; et ils pleurèrent.
And so Esau ran ayens his brothir, and collide hym, and Esau helde his necke, and kisside, and wepte.
5 Puis levant ses yeux, il vit les femmes et les enfants, et dit: Qui sont ceux-là? sont-ils à toi? [Jacob] lui répondit: Ce sont les enfants que Dieu, par sa grâce, a donnés à ton serviteur.
And whanne the iyen weren reisid, he seiy the wymmen, and the litle children of hem, and seide, What wolen these to hem silf? and wher thei pertenen to thee? Jacob answeride, Thei ben the litle children, whiche God hath youe to me, thi seruaunt.
6 Et les servantes s'approchèrent, elles et leurs enfants, et se prosternèrent.
And the handmaydis and her sones neiyeden, and weren bowid.
7 Puis Léa aussi s'approcha avec ses enfants, et ils se prosternèrent, et ensuite Joseph et Rachel s'approchèrent, et se prosternèrent aussi.
Also Lya neiyede with hir fre children; and whanne thei hadden worschipid in lijk maner, Joseph and Rachel the laste worschipeden.
8 Et il dit: Que veux-tu faire avec tout ce camp que j'ai rencontré? Et il répondit: C'est pour trouver grâce devant mon Seigneur.
And Esau seide, What ben these cumpanyes, whiche Y mette? Jacob answerde, That Y schulde fynde grace bifore my lord.
9 Et Esaü dit: J'en ai abondamment, mon frère; que ce qui est à toi, soit à toi.
And he seide, My brother, Y haue ful many thingis, thi thingis be to thee.
10 Et Jacob répondit: Non, je te prie: si j'ai maintenant trouvé grâce devant toi, reçois ce présent de ma main; parce que j'ai vu ta face, comme si j'avais vu la face de Dieu, et parce que tu as été apaisé envers moi.
And Jacob seide, Y biseche, nyle thou so, but if Y foond grace in thin iyen, take thou a litil yifte of myn hondis; for Y seiy so thi face as I seiy the cheer of God;
11 Reçois, je te prie, mon présent qui t'a été amené; car Dieu m'en a donné, par sa grâce, et j'ai de tout. Il le pressa donc tant, qu'il le prit.
be thou merciful to me, and resseyue the blessyng which Y brouyte to thee, and which blessyng God yyuynge alle thingis yaf to me. Vnnethis, while the brothir compellide,
12 Et [Esaü] dit: Partons, et marchons, et je marcherai devant toi.
he resseyuede, and seide, Go we to gidere, and Y schal be felowe of thi weie.
13 Mais [Jacob] lui dit: Mon Seigneur sait que ces enfants sont jeunes, et je suis chargé de brebis et de vaches qui allaitent, et si on les presse d'un seul jour, tout le troupeau mourra.
And Jacob seide, My lord, thou knowist that Y haue litle children tendre, and scheep, and kien with calue with me, and if Y schal make hem for to trauele more in goynge, alle the flockis schulen die in o dai;
14 Je te prie que mon Seigneur passe devant son serviteur, et je m'en irai tout doucement, au pas de ce bagage qui [est] devant moi, et au pas de ces enfants, jusqu'à ce que j'arrive chez mon Seigneur en Séhir.
my lord go bifore his seruaunt, and Y schal sue litil and litil hise steppis, as I shal se that my litle children mown, til Y come to my lord, in to Seir.
15 Et Esaü dit: Je te prie que je fasse demeurer avec toi quelques-uns de ce peuple qui est avec moi; et il répondit: Pourquoi cela? [Je te prie] que je trouve grâce envers mon Seigneur.
Esau answeride, Y preie thee, that of the puple which is with me, nameli felowis of thi weie dwelle. Jacob seide, It is no nede; Y haue nede to this o thing oneli, that Y fynde grace in thi siyt, my lord.
16 Ainsi Esaü s'en retourna ce jour-là par son chemin en Séhir.
And so Esau turnede ayen in that dai in the weie bi which he cam, in to Seir.
17 Et Jacob s'en alla à Succoth, et bâtit une maison pour soi, et fit des cabanes pour son bétail; c'est pourquoi il nomma le lieu, Succoth.
And Jacob cam in to Sochot, where whanne he hadde bildid an hows, and hadde set tentis, he clepide the name of that place Sochot, that is, tabernaclis.
18 Et Jacob arriva sain et sauf à la ville de Sichem, au pays de Canaan, venant de Paddan-Aram, et se campa devant la ville.
And Jacob passide in to Salem, a citee of Sichimis, whiche is in the lond of Canaan, aftir that he turnede ayen fro Mesopotanye of Sirie, and he dwellide besidis the citee.
19 Et il acheta une portion du champ dans lequel il avait dressé sa tente, de la main des enfants d'Hémor, père de Sichem, pour cent pièces d'argent.
And he bouyte for an hundrid lambren a part of the feeld, in which he settide tabernaclis, of the sones of Emor, fadir of Sichem.
20 Et il dressa là un autel, qu'il appela, le [Dieu] Fort, le Dieu d'Israël.
And whanne he hadde reisid an auter there, he inwardly clepide on it the strongeste God of Israel.
