Genèse 13
1 Abram donc monta d'Egypte vers le Midi, lui, sa femme, et tout ce qui lui appartenait, et Lot avec lui.
Than Abram departed out of Egipte both he and his wyfe and all that he had and Lot wyth hym vnto the south.
2 Et Abram était très riche en bétail, en argent, et en or.
Abram was very rych in catell syluer and gold.
3 Et il s'en retourna en suivant la route qu'il avait tenue du Midi à Béthel, jusqu'au lieu où il avait dressé ses tentes au commencement, entre Béthel et Haï,
And he went on his iourney fro the south even vnto BETHEL ad vnto the place where his tente was at the fyrst tyme betwene BETHEL and Ay
4 Au même lieu où était l'autel qu'il y avait bâti au commencement, et Abram invoqua là le nom de l'Eternel.
and vnto the place of the aulter which he made before. And there called Abram vpon the name of the LORde.
5 Lot aussi qui marchait avec Abram, avait des brebis, des bœufs, et des tentes.
Lot also which went wyth hym had shepe catell and tentes:
6 Et la terre ne les pouvait porter pour demeurer ensemble; car leur bien était si grand, qu'ils ne pouvaient demeurer l'un avec l'autre.
so that the londe was not abill to receaue them that they myght dwell together for the substance of their riches was so greate that they coude not dwell together
7 De sorte qu'il y eut querelle entre les pasteurs du bétail d'Abram, et les pasteurs du bétail de Lot; or en ce temps-là les Cananéens et les Phérésiens demeuraient au pays.
And there fell a stryfe betwene the herdmen of Abrams catell and the herdmen of Lots catell. Moreouer the Cananytes and the Pherysites dwelled at that tyme in the lande.
8 Et Abram dit à Lot: Je te prie qu'il n'y ait point de dispute entre moi et toi, ni entre mes pasteurs et les tiens; car nous sommes frères.
Than sayd Abram vnto Lot: let there be no stryfe I praye the betwene the and me and betwene my herdmen and thyne for we be brethren.
9 Tout le pays n'est-il pas à ta disposition? sépare-toi, je te prie, d'avec moi. Si [tu choisis] la gauche, je prendrai la droite; et si [tu prends] la droite, je m'en irai à la gauche.
Ys not all the hole lande before the? Departe I praye the fro me. Yf thou wylt take the lefte hande I wyll take the right: Or yf thou take the right hande I wyll take the left.
10 Et Lot élevant ses yeux, vit toute la plaine du Jourdain qui, avant que l'Eternel eût détruit Sodome et Gomorrhe, était arrosée partout, jusqu'à ce qu'on vienne à Tsohar, comme le jardin de l'Eternel, [et] comme le pays d'Egypte.
And Lot lyft vp hys eyes and beheld all the contre aboute Iordane which was a plenteous contre of water every where before the LORde destroyed Sodoma and Gomorra. Even as the garden of the LORde and as the lande of Egipte tyll thou come to Zoar.
11 Et Abram était très riche en bétail, en argent, et en or.
Than Lot chose all the costes of Iordane ad toke hys iourney from the east. And so departed the one brother from the other.
12 Et Lot choisit pour lui toute la plaine du Jourdain, et alla du coté d'Orient; ainsi ils se séparèrent l'un de l'autre.
Abram dwelled in the lande of Canaan. And lot in the cytes of the playne and tented tyll he came to Sodome.
13 Abram demeura au pays de Canaan, et Lot demeura dans les villes de la plaine, et dressa ses tentes jusqu'à Sodome.
But the men of sodome were wyked and synned exceadyngly agenst the LORde.
14 Or les habitants de Sodome étaient méchants, et grands pécheurs contre l'Eternel.
And the LORde sayed vnto Abram after that Lot was departed from hym: lyfte vp thyne eyes and loke from ye place where thou art northward southward eastward and westward
15 Et l'Eternel dit à Abram, après que Lot se fut séparé de lui: Lève maintenant tes yeux, et regarde du lieu où tu es, vers le Septentrion, le Midi, l'Orient, et l'Occident. Car je te donnerai, et à ta postérité pour jamais, tout le pays que tu vois.
for all the lande which thou seiste wyll I gyue vnto the and to thy seed for ever.
16 Et je ferai que ta postérité sera comme la poussière de la terre; que si quelqu'un peut compter la poussière de la terre, il comptera aussi ta postérité.
And I wyll make thy seed as the dust of the erth: so that yf a ma can nombre the dust of the erth than shall thy seed also be nombred.
17 Lève-toi donc, [et] te promène dans le pays, en sa longueur et en sa largeur; car je te le donnerai.
Aryse and walke aboute in the lande in the length of it ad in the bredth for I wyll geue it vnto the.
18 Abram donc ayant transporté ses tentes, alla demeurer dans les plaines de Mamré, qui est en Hébron, et il bâtit là un autel à l'Eternel.
Than Abra toke downe hys tente and went and dwelled in the okegrove of Mamre which is in Ebron and buylded there an altar to the LORde.
