Esdras 3
1 Or le septième mois approchant, et les enfants d'Israël étant dans leurs villes, le peuple s'assembla à Jérusalem comme si ce n'eût été qu'un seul homme.
And thanne the seuenthe monethe was comun, and the sones of Israel weren in her citees.
2 Alors Jésuah, fils de Jotsadak, se leva avec ses frères les Sacrificateurs, et Zorobabel fils de Salathiel, avec ses frères, et ils bâtirent l'autel du Dieu d'Israël, pour y offrir les holocaustes, ainsi qu'il est écrit dans la Loi de Moïse, homme de Dieu.
Therfor the puple was gaderid as o man in to Jerusalem. And Josue, the sone of Josedech, roos, and hise britheren, prestis, and Zorobabel, the sone of Salatiel, and hise britheren, and thei bildiden the auter of God of Israel for to offre therynne brent sacrifices, as it is writun in the lawe of Moises, the man of God.
3 Et ils posèrent l'autel de Dieu sur sa base, parce qu'ils avaient peur en eux-mêmes des peuples du pays, et ils y offrirent des holocaustes à l'Eternel, les holocaustes du matin et du soir.
Forsothe thei settiden the auter on his foundementis, while the puplis of londis bi cumpas maden hem aferd, and thei offriden on that auter brent sacrifice to the Lord in the morewtid and euentid.
4 Ils célébrèrent aussi la fête solennelle des Tabernacles, en la manière qu'il est écrit [dans la Loi]; et ils [offrirent] les holocaustes chaque jour, autant qu'il en fallait, selon que portait l'ordinaire de chaque jour;
And thei maden solempnytee of tabernaclis, as it is writun, and brent sacrifice ech dai bi ordre, `bi the werk of the dai comaundid in his dai.
5 Après cela, l'holocauste continuel, et ceux des nouvelles lunes, et de toutes les fêtes solennelles de l'Eternel, lesquelles on sanctifiait, et de tous ceux qui présentaient une offrande volontaire à l'Eternel.
And after this thei offriden contynuel brent sacrifice, bothe in calendis and in alle solempnytees of the Lord, that weren halewid, and in alle solempnytees, in which yifte was offrid to the Lord bi fre wille.
6 Dès le premier jour du septième mois ils commencèrent à offrir des holocaustes à l'Eternel; bien que le Temple de l'Eternel ne fût pas encore fondé.
In the firste dai of the seuenthe monethe thei bigunnen to offre brent sacrifice to the Lord; certis the temple of God was not foundid yit.
7 Mais ils donnèrent de l'argent aux tailleurs de pierres et aux charpentiers, [ils donnèrent] aussi à manger et à boire, et de l'huile, aux Sidoniens et aux Tyriens, afin qu'ils amenassent du bois de cèdre du Liban à la mer de Japho, selon la permission que Cyrus, Roi de Perse, leur en avait donnée.

8 Et la seconde année de leur arrivée en la maison de Dieu à Jérusalem, au second mois, Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, et Jésuah, fils de Jotsadak, et le reste de leurs frères, les Sacrificateurs, et les Lévites, et tous ceux qui étaient venus de la captivité à Jérusalem, commencèrent [à fonder le Temple]; et ils établirent des Lévites, depuis l'âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, pour presser l'ouvrage de la maison de l'Eternel.
Forsothe in the secounde yeer of her comyng to the temple of God in Jerusalem, in the secounde monethe, Zorobabel, the sone of Salatiel, and Josue,
9 Et Jésuah assistait avec ses fils et ses frères, et Kadmiel avec ses fils, enfants de Juda, pour presser ceux qui faisaient l'ouvrage en la maison de Dieu; [et] les fils de Hémadad, avec leurs fils et leurs frères, Lévites.
the sone of Josedech, and othere of her britheren, preestis and dekenes, and alle that camen fro the caitifte in to Jerusalem, bigunnen; and thei ordeyneden dekenes, fro twenti yeer and aboue, for to haste the werk of the Lord; and Josue stood, and hise sones, and hise britheren, Cedynyel and hise sones, and the sones of Juda, as o man, to be bisi ouer hem that maden the werk in the temple of God; the sones of Benadab, her sones and her britheren, dekenes, `weren bisy.
10 Et lorsque ceux qui bâtissaient fondaient le Temple de l'Eternel, on y fit assister les Sacrificateurs revêtus, ayant leurs trompettes; et les Lévites, enfants d'Asaph, avec les cymbales, pour louer l'Eternel, selon l'institution de David, Roi d'Israël.
Therfor whanne the temple `of the Lord was foundid of stoon leggeris, prestis stoden in her ournement with trumpis, and dekenes, the sones of Asaph, in cymbalis, for to herie God bi the hond of Dauid, kyng of Israel.
11 Et ils s'entre-répondaient en louant et célébrant l'Eternel, [chantant]: Qu'il est bon, parce que sa gratuité demeure à toujours sur Israël. Et tout le peuple jeta de grands cris de joie en louant l'Eternel, parce qu'on fondait la maison de l'Eternel.
And thei sungen togidere in ympnes and knoulechyng to the Lord, For he is good, for his merci is with outen ende on Israel. And al the puple criede with greet cry, in preisynge the Lord, for the temple of the Lord was foundid.
12 Mais plusieurs des Sacrificateurs et des Lévites, et des Chefs des pères qui étaient âgés, [et] qui avaient vu la première maison sur son fondement, se représentant cette maison-là, pleuraient à haute voix; mais plusieurs élevaient leur voix avec des cris de réjouissance, et d'allégresse.
Also ful manye of the preestis, and of the dekenes, and the princes of fadris, and the eldre men, that hadden seyn the formere temple, whanne it was foundid, and this temple bifor her iyen, wepten with greet vois, and many men criynge in gladnesse reisiden the vois;
13 Et le peuple ne pouvait discerner la voix des cris de joie, et d'allégresse, d'avec la voix des pleurs du peuple; cependant le peuple jetait de grands cris de joie, en sorte que la voix fut entendue bien loin.
and no man myyte knowe the vois of cry of men beynge glad, and the vois of wepyng of the puple; for the puple criede togidere with greet cry, and the vois was herd afer.
