Ézéchiel 36

1 Et toi, fils d'homme, prophétise aussi touchant les montagnes d'Israël, et dis: montagnes d'Israël, écoutez la parole de l'Eternel.

“Now you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say, 'Mountains of Israel, listen to the word of Yahweh.

2 Ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: parce que l'ennemi a dit contre vous: ha! ha! Tous les lieux haut élevés, qui même sont d'ancienneté, sont devenus notre possession.

The Lord Yahweh says this: The enemy has said about you, “Aha!” and “The ancient high places have become our possession.”'

3 C'est pourquoi prophétise, et dis: ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: parce, oui, parce qu'on vous a réduites en désolation, et que ceux d'alentour, vous ont englouties, afin que vous fussiez en possession au reste des nations, et qu'on vous a exposées à la langue et aux insultes des nations.

Therefore prophesy and say, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Because of your desolation and because of the attacks that came on you from all sides, you have become a possession of the other nations; you have been the subject of slanderous lips and tongues, and of people's stories.

4 A cause de cela, montagnes d'Israël, écoutez la parole du Seigneur l'Eternel: ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel aux montagnes, et aux coteaux, aux courants d'eaux, et aux vallées, aux lieux détruits et désolés, et aux villes abandonnées qui ont été en pillage et en moquerie au reste des nations qui sont tout à l'entour;

Therefore, mountains of Israel, listen to the word of the Lord Yahweh: The Lord Yahweh says this to the mountains and the high hills, to the streambeds and valleys, to the uninhabited desolations and the forsaken cities that have become plunder and a subject of mocking for the other nations that surround them—

5 A cause de cela, [dis-je], ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: si je ne parle en l'ardeur de ma jalousie contre le reste des nations, et contre tous ceux d'Idumée qui se sont attribué ma terre en possession, avec une joie dont leur cœur était plein, et avec un mépris dont ils se faisaient un grand plaisir, pour la mettre au pillage.

therefore the Lord Yahweh says this: I have certainly spoken in the fire of my fury against the other nations, against Edom and all who took my land for themselves as a possession, against all those who had both joy in their heart and disdain in their spirit, as they seized my land that they might claim its pasturelands for themselves.'

6 C'est pourquoi prophétise touchant la terre d'Israël, et dis aux montagnes, et aux coteaux, aux courants d'eaux, et aux vallées: ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: voici, j'ai parlé en ma jalousie, et en ma fureur, parce que vous avez porté l'ignominie des nations.

Therefore, prophesy to the land of Israel and say to the mountains and to the high hills, to the streambeds and to the valleys, 'the Lord Yahweh says this: Behold! In my fury and in my anger I am declaring this because you have borne the insults of nations.

7 C'est pourquoi ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: j'ai levé ma main, si les nations qui sont tout autour de vous ne portent leur ignominie.

Therefore, the Lord Yahweh says this: I myself will lift up my hand to swear that the nations that surround you will certainly carry their own shame.

8 Mais vous, montagnes d'Israël, vous pousserez vos branches, et vous porterez votre fruit pour mon peuple d'Israël; car ils sont prêts à venir.

But you, mountains of Israel, you will grow branches and bear fruit for my people Israel, since they will soon come back to you.

9 Car me voici, [je viens] à vous, et je retournerai vers vous, et vous serez labourées, et semées.

For behold, I am for you, and I treat you with favor; you will be plowed and sown with seed.

10 Et je multiplierai les hommes sur vous, [savoir] la maison d'Israël tout entière, et les villes seront habitées, et les lieux déserts seront rebâtis.

So I will multiply upon you the number of your people, even the whole house of Israel. The cities will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt.

11 Et je multiplierai sur vous les hommes et les bêtes, qui y multiplieront, et fructifieront; je ferai que vous serez habités comme anciennement, et je vous ferai plus de bien que vous n'en avez eu au commencement; et vous saurez que je suis l'Eternel.

I will multiply man and beast on you mountains so that they will multiply and be fruitful. Then I will cause you to be inhabited as you previously were, and I will make you prosper more than you did in the past, for you will know that I am Yahweh.

12 Et je ferai marcher sur vous des hommes, [savoir] mon peuple d'Israël, qui vous posséderont, vous leur serez en héritage, et vous ne les consumerez plus.

I will bring men, my people Israel, to walk on you. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will no longer cause their children to die.

13 Ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: parce qu'on dit de vous: tu es un pays qui dévore les hommes, et tu as consumé tes habitants;

The Lord Yahweh says this: Because they are saying to you, “You devour men, bereaving your nation of children,”

14 A cause de cela tu ne dévoreras plus les hommes, et ne consumeras plus tes habitants, dit le Seigneur l'Eternel.

therefore you will not consume people any longer, and you will no longer make your nation mourn their deaths. This is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.

15 Et je ferai que tu n'entendras plus l'ignominie des nations, et que tu ne porteras plus l'opprobre des peuples; et tu ne feras plus périr tes habitants, dit le Seigneur l'Eternel.

Nor will I allow you to hear the insults of the nations any longer; you will no longer have to bear the shame of the peoples or cause your nation to fall—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.'”

16 Puis la parole de l'Eternel me fut [adressée], en disant:

Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

17 Fils d'homme, ceux de la maison d'Israël habitant en leur terre l'ont souillée par leur voie et par leurs actions; leur voie est devenue devant moi telle qu'est la souillure de la femme séparée à cause de son impureté;

“Son of man, when the house of Israel inhabited their land, they defiled it with their ways and their deeds. Their ways were like the unclean menstruation of a woman before me.

18 Et j'ai répandu ma fureur sur eux à cause du sang qu'ils ont répandu sur le pays, et parce qu'ils l'ont souillé par leurs idoles.

So I poured out my fury against them for the blood that they poured out on the land and for their pollution of it by their idols.

19 Et je les ai dispersés parmi les nations, et ils ont été répandus par les pays; je les ai jugés selon leur voie, et selon leurs actions.

I scattered them among the nations; they were dispersed through the lands. I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.

20 Et étant venus parmi les nations au milieu desquelles ils sont venus, ils ont profané le Nom de ma Sainteté, en ce qu'on a dit d'eux: ceux-ci sont le peuple de l'Eternel, et cependant ils sont sortis de son pays.

Then they went to the nations, and wherever they went, they profaned my holy name when people said of them, 'Are these really the people of Yahweh? For they have been thrown out of his land.'

21 Mais j'ai épargné le Nom de ma Sainteté, lequel la maison d'Israël avait profané parmi les nations au milieu desquelles ils étaient venus.

But I had compassion for my holy name that the house of Israel had defiled among the nations, when they went there.

22 C'est pourquoi dis à la maison d'Israël: ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: je ne [le] fais point à cause de vous, ô maison d'Israël! mais à cause du Nom de ma Sainteté, que vous avez profané parmi les nations au milieu desquelles vous êtes venus.

Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: I am not doing this for your sake, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations everywhere you have gone.

23 Et je sanctifierai mon grand Nom, qui a été profané parmi les nations, et que vous avez profané parmi elles; et les nations sauront que je suis l'Eternel, dit le Seigneur l'Eternel, quand je serai sanctifié en vous, en leur présence.

For I will make my great name holy, which you have profaned among the nations—in the midst of the nations, you profaned it. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—when you see that I am holy.

24 Je vous retirerai donc d'entre les nations, je vous rassemblerai de tous pays, et je vous ramènerai en votre terre.

I will take you from the nations and gather you from every land, and I will bring you to your land.

25 Et je répandrai sur vous des eaux nettes, et vous serez nettoyés; je vous nettoierai de toutes vos souillures, et de toutes vos idoles.

Then I will sprinkle pure water on you so you will be purified from all of your impurities, and I will purify you from all of your idols.

26 Je vous donnerai un nouveau cœur, je mettrai au dedans de vous un Esprit nouveau; j'ôterai de votre chair le cœur de pierre, et je vous donnerai un cœur de chair.

I will give you a new heart and a new spirit in your innermost parts, and I will take away the heart of stone from your flesh. For I will give you a heart of flesh.

27 Et je mettrai mon Esprit au dedans de vous, je ferai que vous marcherez dans mes statuts, et que vous garderez mes ordonnances, et les ferez.

I will set my Spirit in you and enable you to walk in my statutes and keep my decrees, so you will do them.

28 Et vous demeurerez au pays que j'ai donné à vos pères, et vous serez mon peuple, et je serai votre Dieu.

Then you will inhabit the land that I gave to your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.

29 Je vous délivrerai de toutes vos souillures, j'appellerai le froment, je le multiplierai, et je ne vous enverrai plus la famine;

For I will save you from all of your uncleanness. I will summon the grain and multiply it. I will no longer put famine upon you.

30 Mais je multiplierai le fruit des arbres, et le revenu des champs, afin que vous ne portiez plus l'opprobre de la famine entre les nations.

I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field so that you will no longer bear the shame of famine among the nations.

31 Et vous vous souviendrez de votre mauvaise voie et de vos actions, qui n'étaient pas bonnes, et vous détesterez en vous-mêmes vos iniquités, et vos abominations.

Then you will think of your wicked ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will show loathing on your faces because of your own sins and your disgusting deeds.

32 Je ne le fais point pour l'amour de vous, dit le Seigneur l'Eternel, afin que vous le sachiez. Soyez honteux et confus à cause de votre voie, ô maison d'Israël!

I am not doing this for your sake—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—let this be known to you. So be ashamed and disgraced because of your ways, house of Israel.

33 Ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: au jour que je vous aurai purifiés de toutes vos iniquités je vous ferai habiter dans des villes, et les lieux déserts seront rebâtis.

The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day that I purify you from all your iniquity, I will cause you to inhabit the cities and to rebuild the ruined places.

34 Et la terre désolée sera labourée, au lieu qu'elle n'a été que désolation, en la présence de tous les passants.

For you will plow the ruined land until it is no longer a ruin before the eyes of all who pass by.

35 Et on dira: cette terre-ci qui était désolée, est devenue comme le jardin d'Héden; et ces villes qui avaient été désertes, désolées, et détruites, sont fortifiées et habitées.

Then they will say, “This land was desolate, but it has become like the garden of Eden; the desolate cities and the uninhabited ruins that were torn down are now fortified and inhabited.”

36 Et les nations qui seront demeurées de reste autour de vous sauront que moi l'Eternel j'aurai rebâti les lieux détruits, et planté le pays désolé, moi l'Eternel j'ai parlé, et je le ferai.

Then the other nations around you will know that I am Yahweh, that I built up the ruins and replanted the abandoned places. I am Yahweh. I have declared it and I will do it.

37 Ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: encore serai-je recherché par la maison d'Israël, pour leur faire ceci, [savoir] que je multiplie leurs hommes comme un troupeau de brebis.

The Lord Yahweh says this: Again I will be asked by the house of Israel to do this for them, to increase them like a flock of people.

38 Les villes qui sont désertes seront remplies de troupes d'hommes, tels que sont les troupeaux des bêtes sanctifiées, tels que sont les troupeaux des bêtes qu'on amène à Jérusalem en ses fêtes solennelles; et ils sauront que je suis l'Eternel.

Like the flock is set apart for sacrifices, like the flock in Jerusalem at her appointed feasts, so will the ruined cities be filled with flocks of people and they will know that I am Yahweh.'”
