Ézéchiel 3
1 Puis il me dit: fils d'homme, mange ce que tu trouveras, mange ce rouleau, et t'en va, [et] parle à la maison d'Israël.
And he said to me: “Son of man, eat whatever you will find; eat this scroll, and, going forth, speak to the sons of Israel.”
2 J'ouvris donc ma bouche, et il me fit manger ce rouleau.
And I opened my mouth, and he fed me that scroll.
3 Et il me dit: fils d'homme, repais ton ventre, et remplis tes entrailles de ce rouleau que je te donne; et je le mangeai, et il fut doux dans ma bouche comme du miel.
And he said to me: “Son of man, your stomach shall eat, and your interior shall be filled with this scroll, which I am giving to you.” And I ate it, and in my mouth it became as sweet as honey.
4 Puis il me dit: fils d'homme, lève-toi et va vers la maison d'Israël, et leur prononce mes paroles.
And he said to me: “Son of man, go to the house of Israel, and you shall speak my words to them.
5 [Car] tu n'es point envoyé vers un peuple de langage inconnu, ou de langue barbare; c'est vers la maison d'Israël;
For you will be sent, not to a people of profound words or of an unknown language, but to the house of Israel,
6 Ni vers plusieurs peuples de langage inconnu, ou de langue barbare, dont tu ne puisses pas entendre les paroles; si je t'eusse envoyé vers eux, ne t'écouteraient-ils pas?
and not to many peoples of profound words or of an unknown language, whose words you would not be able to understand. But if you were sent to them, they would listen to you.
7 Mais la maison d'Israël ne te voudra pas écouter, parce qu'ils ne me veulent point écouter; car toute la maison d'Israël est effrontée, et d'un cœur obstiné.
Yet the house of Israel is not willing to listen to you. For they are not willing to listen to me. Certainly, the entire house of Israel has a brazen forehead and a hardened heart.
8 Voici, j'ai renforcé ta face contre leurs faces, et j'ai renforcé ton front contre leurs fronts.
Behold, I have made your face stronger than their faces, and your forehead harder than their foreheads.
9 Et j'ai rendu ton front semblable à un diamant, [et] plus fort qu'un caillou; ne les crains donc point, et ne t'effraie point à cause d'eux, quoiqu'ils soient une maison rebelle.
I have made your face like hardened iron and like flint. You should not fear them, and you should not have dread before their face. For they are a provoking house.”
10 Puis il me dit: fils d'homme, reçois dans ton cœur, et écoute de tes oreilles toutes les paroles que je te dirai.
And he said to me: “Son of man, listen with your ears, and take into your heart, all my words, which I am speaking to you.
11 Lève-toi donc, va vers ceux qui ont été emmenés captifs, va vers les enfants de ton peuple, parle-leur, et leur dis que le Seigneur l'Eternel a ainsi parlé, soit qu'ils écoutent, ou qu'ils n'en fassent rien.
And go forth and enter to those of the transmigration, to the sons of your people. And you shall speak to them. And you shall say to them: ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ Perhaps it may be that they will listen and be quieted.”
12 Puis l'Esprit m'éleva, et j'ouïs après moi une voix [qui me causa] une grande émotion, [disant]: Bénie soit de son lieu la gloire de l'Eternel.
And the Spirit took me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great commotion, saying, “Blessed is the glory of the Lord from his place,”
13 Et j'ouïs le bruit des ailes des animaux, qui s'entre-touchaient les unes les autres, et le bruit des roues vis-à-vis d'eux, [j'ouïs], dis-je, une voix qui me causa une grande émotion.
and the voice of the wings of the living creatures striking against one another, and the voice of the wheels following the living creatures, and the voice of a great commotion.
14 L'Esprit donc m'éleva, et me ravit, et je m'en allai l'esprit rempli d'amertume et de colère mais la main de l'Eternel me fortifia.
Then the Spirit lifted me and took me away. And I went forth in bitterness, with the indignation of my spirit. For the hand of the Lord was with me, strengthening me.
15 Je vins donc vers ceux qui avaient été transportés à Télabib, vers ceux qui demeuraient auprès du fleuve de Kébar; et je me tins là où ils se tenaient, même je me tins là parmi eux sept jours, tout étonné.
And I went to those of the transmigration, to the stockpile of new crops, to those who were living beside the river Chebar. And I sat where they were sitting. And I remained there for seven days, while mourning in their midst.
16 Et au bout de sept jours, la parole de l'Eternel me fut [adressée], en disant:
Then, when seven days had passed, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
17 Fils d'homme, je t'ai établi pour surveillant à la maison d'Israël; tu écouteras donc la parole de ma bouche, et tu les avertiras de ma part.
“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. And so, you shall listen to the word from my mouth, and you shall announce it to them from me.
18 Quand j'aurai dit au méchant: tu mourras de mort, et que tu ne l'auras point averti, et que tu ne lui auras point parlé pour l'avertir de se garder de son méchant train, afin de lui sauver la vie; ce méchant-là mourra dans son iniquité, mais je redemanderai son sang de ta main.
If, when I say to the impious man, ‘You shall certainly die,’ you do not announce it to him, and you do not speak so that he may turn aside from his impious way and live, then the same impious man will die in his iniquity. But I will attribute his blood to your hand.
19 Que si tu as averti le méchant, et qu'il ne se soit point détourné de sa méchanceté, ni de son méchant train; il mourra dans son iniquité, mais tu auras délivré ton âme.
But if you announce it to the impious man, and he is not converted from his impiety and from his impious way, then indeed he will die in his iniquity. But you will have delivered your own soul.
20 Pareillement si le juste se détourne de sa justice, et commet l'iniquité, lorsque j'aurai mis quelque obstacle devant lui, il mourra, parce que tu ne l'auras point averti; il mourra dans son péché, et il ne sera point fait mention de ses justices qu'il aura faites; mais je redemanderai son sang de ta main.
Moreover, if the just man turns aside from his justice and commits iniquity, I will place a stumbling block before him. He shall die, because you have not announced to him. He shall die in his sin, and his justices that he did shall not be remembered. Yet truly, I will attribute his blood to your hand.
21 Que si tu avertis le juste de ne pécher point, et que lui aussi ne pèche point, il vivra certainement, parce qu'il aura été averti, et toi pareillement tu auras délivré ton âme.
But if you announce to the just man, so that the just man may not sin, and he does not sin, then he shall certainly live, because you have announced to him. And you will have delivered your own soul.”
22 Et la main de l'Eternel fut là sur moi, et il me dit: lève-toi, et sors vers la campagne, et là je te parlerai.
And the hand of the Lord was over me. And he said to me: “Rise up, and go out to the plain, and there I will speak with you.”
23 Je me levai donc, et sortis vers la campagne; et voici, la gloire de l'Eternel se tenait là, telle que la gloire que j'avais vue auprès du fleuve de Kébar, et je tombai sur ma face.
And I rose up, and I went out to the plain. And behold, the glory of the Lord was standing there, like the glory that I saw beside the river Chebar. And I fell upon my face.
24 Alors l'Esprit entra dans moi, et me releva sur mes pieds, et il me parla, et [me] dit: entre, et t'enferme dans ta maison.
And the Spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet. And he spoke to me, and he said to me: “Enter and enclose yourself in the midst of your house.
25 Car quant à toi, fils d'homme, voici, on mettra des cordes sur toi, et on t'en liera, et tu ne sortiras point pour aller parmi eux.
And as for you, son of man, behold: they shall put chains upon you and bind you with them. And you shall not go out from their midst.
26 Et je ferai tenir ta langue à ton palais, tu seras muet, et tu ne les reprendras point; parce qu'ils sont une maison rebelle.
And I will cause your tongue to adhere to the roof of your mouth. And you will be mute, not like a man who reproaches. For they are a provoking house.
27 Mais quand je te parlerai, j'ouvrirai ta bouche, et tu leur diras: ainsi a dit le Seigneur l'Eternel: que celui qui écoute, écoute; et que celui qui n'écoute pas, n'écoute pas; car ils [sont] une maison rebelle.
But when I will speak to you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them: ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ Whoever is listening, let him hear. And whoever is quieted, let him be quieted. For they are a provoking house.”
