Exode 32
1 Mais le peuple voyant que Moïse tardait tant à descendre de la montagne, s'assembla vers Aaron, et ils lui dirent: lève-toi, fais-nous des dieux qui marchent devant nous, car quant à ce Moïse, cet homme qui nous a fait monter du pays d'Egypte, nous ne savons ce qui lui est arrivé.
And it saw the people that he delayed Moses to come down from the mountain and it assembled the people to Aaron and they said to him arise - make for us gods which they will go before us for this - Moses the man who he brought up us from [the] land of Egypt not we know what? has it happened to him.
2 Et Aaron leur répondit: mettez en pièces les bagues d'or qui sont aux oreilles de vos femmes, de vos fils, et de vos filles, et apportez-les-moi.
And he said to them Aaron tear off [the] rings of gold which [are] on [the] ears of wives your sons your and daughters your and bring [them] to me.
3 Et incontinent tout le peuple mit en pièces les bagues d'or, qui étaient à leurs oreilles, et ils les apportèrent à Aaron,
And they tore off from themselves all the people [the] rings of gold which [were] on ears their and they brought [them] to Aaron.
4 Qui les ayant reçues de leurs mains, forma l'or avec un burin, et il en fit un Veau de fonte. Et ils dirent: ce sont ici tes dieux, ô Israël, qui t'ont fait monter du pays d'Egypte.
And he took [them] from hand their and he fashioned it with tool and he made it a calf of molten metal and they said these [are] gods your O Israel who they brought up you from [the] land of Egypt.
5 Ce qu'Aaron ayant vu, il bâtit un autel devant le Veau; et cria, en disant: demain il y aura une fête solennelle à l'Eternel.
And he saw Aaron and he built an altar before it and he called Aaron and he said a festival of Yahweh [will be] tomorrow.
6 Ainsi ils se levèrent le lendemain dès le matin, et ils offrirent des holocaustes, et présentèrent des sacrifices de prospérité; et le peuple s'assit pour manger et pour boire, puis ils se levèrent pour jouer.
And they rose early from [the] next day and they offered up burnt offerings and they brought near peace offerings and it sat down the people to eat and to drink and they arose to play.
7 Alors l'Eternel dit à Moïse: va, descends; car ton peuple que tu as fait monter du pays d'Egypte, s'est corrompu.
And he spoke Yahweh to Moses go go down for it has behaved corruptly people your which you brought up from [the] land of Egypt.
8 Ils se sont bien-tôt détournés de la voie que je leur avais commandée, ils se sont fait un Veau de fonte, et se sont prosternés devant lui, et lui ont sacrifié, et ont dit: Ce sont ici tes dieux, ô Israël, qui t'ont fait monter du pays d'Egypte.
They have turned aside quickly from the way which I commanded them they have made for themselves a calf of molten metal and they have bowed down to it and they have sacrificed to it and they have said these [are] gods your O Israel who they brought up you from [the] land of Egypt.
9 L'Eternel dit encore à Moïse: j'ai regardé ce peuple, et voici, c'est un peuple de col roide.
And he said Yahweh to Moses I have seen the people this and there! [is] a people stiff of neck it.
10 Or maintenant laisse-moi, et ma colère s'embrasera contr’eux, et je les consumerai; mais je te ferai devenir une grande nation.
And therefore leave alone! me so may it burn anger my on them so I may make an end of them and I may make you into a nation great.
11 Alors Moïse supplia l'Eternel son Dieu, et dit: ô Eternel, pourquoi ta colère s'embraserait-elle contre ton peuple, que tu as retiré du pays d'Egypte par une grande puissance, et par main forte?
And he entreated Moses [the] face of Yahweh God his and he said why? O Yahweh does it burn anger your on people your which you brought out from [the] land of Egypt with power great and by a hand strong.
12 Pourquoi diraient les Egyptiens: il les a retirés dans de mauvaises vues pour les tuer sur les montagnes, et pour les consumer de dessus la terre? Reviens de l'ardeur de ta colère, et te repens de ce mal [que tu veux faire] à ton peuple.
Why? will they say Egypt saying with evil he brought out them to kill them in the mountains and to make an end of them from on [the] surface of the ground turn from [the] burning of anger your and relent on the harm to people your.
13 Souviens-toi d'Abraham, d'Isaac et d'Israël tes serviteurs, auxquels tu as juré par toi-même, en leur disant: je multiplierai votre postérité comme les étoiles des cieux, et je donnerai à votre postérité tout ce pays, dont j'ai parlé, et ils l'hériteront à jamais
Remember Abraham Isaac and Israel servants your whom you swore to them by yourself and you said to them I will increase offspring your like [the] stars of the heavens and all the land this which I have promised I will give to offspring your and they will possess [it] for ever.
14 Et l'Eternel se repentit du mal qu'il avait dit qu'il ferait à son peuple.
And he relented Yahweh on the harm which he had spoken to do to people his.
15 Alors Moïse regarda, et descendit de la montagne, ayant en sa main les deux Tables du Témoignage, [et] les Tables [étaient] écrites de leurs deux côtés, écrites deçà et delà.
And he turned and he went down Moses from the mountain and [the] two [the] tablets of the testimony [were] in hand his tablets written from [the] two sides their from this and from this they [were] written.
16 Et les Tables étaient l'ouvrage de Dieu, et l'écriture était de l'écriture de Dieu, gravée sur les Tables
And the tablets [were] [the] work of God they and the writing [was] [the] writing of God it engraved on the tablets.
17 Et Josué, entendant la voix du peuple qui faisait un grand bruit, dit à Moïse: il y a un bruit de bataille au camp.
And he heard Joshua [the] sound of the people (in shouting its *Q(K)*) and he said to Moses a sound of battle [is] in the camp.
18 Et [Moïse] lui répondit: [ce n'est] pas une voix ni un cri de gens qui soient les plus forts, ni une voix ni un cri de gens qui soient les plus faibles; [mais] j'entends une voix de gens qui chantent.
And he said there not [is] a sound of singing of strength and there not [is] a sound of singing of weakness a sound of singing I [am] hearing.
19 Et il arriva que lors que [Moïse] fut approché du camp, il vit le Veau et les danses; et la colère de Moïse s'embrasa, et il jeta de ses mains les Tables, et les rompit au pied de la montagne.
And it was just when he drew near to the camp and he saw the calf and dancing and it burned [the] anger of Moses and he threw down (from hands his *Q(K)*) the tablets and he broke in pieces them under the mountain.
20 Il prit ensuite le Veau qu'ils avaient fait, et le brûla au feu, et le moulut jusqu’à ce qu'il fût en poudre; puis il répandit cette poudre dans de l'eau, et il en fit boire aux enfants d'Israël.
And he took the calf which they had made and he burned [it] with fire and he ground [it] until that it was fine and he scattered [it] on [the] surface of the water and he made drink [it] [the] people of Israel.
21 Et Moïse dit à Aaron: que t'a fait ce peuple, que tu aies fait venir sur lui un si grand péché?
And he said Moses to Aaron what? did it do to you the people this that you have brought on it a sin great.
22 Et Aaron lui répondit: que la colère de mon Seigneur ne s'embrase point, tu sais que ce peuple est porté au mal.
And he said Aaron may not it burn [the] anger of lord my you you know the people that [is] on evil it.
23 Or ils m'ont dit: fais-nous des dieux qui marchent devant nous, car quant à ce Moïse, cet homme qui nous a fait monter du pays d'Egypte, nous ne savons ce qui lui est arrivé.
And they said to me make for us gods which they will go before us for this - Moses the man who he brought up us from [the] land of Egypt not we know what? has it happened to him.
24 Alors je leur ai dit: que celui qui a de l'or, le mette en pièces; et ils me l'ont donné; et je l'ai jeté au feu, et ce Veau en est sorti.
And I said to them [belongs] to whom? gold tear [it] off from yourselves and they gave [it] to me and I threw it in the fire and it came out the calf this.
25 Or Moïse vit que le peuple était dénué, car Aaron l'avait dénué pour être en opprobre parmi leurs ennemis.
And he saw Moses the people for [was] running wild it for had let [it] run wild he Aaron for derision among [those who] rise against them.
26 Et Moïse se tenant à la porte du camp, dit: qui est pour l'Eternel; qu'il vienne vers moi? Et tous les enfants de Lévi s'assemblèrent vers lui.
And he stood Moses at [the] gate of the camp and he said who? [belongs] to Yahweh to me and they gathered themselves to him all [the] descendants of Levi.
27 Et il leur dit: ainsi a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: que chacun mette son épée à son côté, passez et repassez de porte en porte par le camp, et que chacun de vous tue son frère, son ami, et son voisin.
And he said to them thus he says Yahweh [the] God of Israel put everyone sword his on thigh his pass and return from gate to gate in the camp and kill everyone brother his and everyone friend his and everyone neighbor his.
28 Et les enfants de Lévi firent selon la parole de Moïse; et en ce jour-là il tomba du peuple environ trois mille hommes.
And they did [the] descendants of Levi according to [the] word of Moses and it fell of the people on the day that about three thousand person[s].
29 Car Moïse avait dit: consacrez aujourd'hui vos mains à l'Eternel, chacun même contre son fils, et contre son frère, afin que vous attiriez aujourd'hui sur vous la bénédiction.
And he said Moses fill hand your this day to Yahweh for everyone [was] on son his and on brother his and to put on yourselves this day a blessing.
30 Et le lendemain Moïse dit au peuple: vous avez commis un grand péché; mais je monterai maintenant vers l'Eternel; et peut-être, je ferai propitiation pour votre péché.
And it was from [the] next day and he said Moses to the people you you have sinned a sin great and now I will go up to Yahweh perhaps I will atone for sin your.
31 Moïse donc retourna vers l'Eternel, et dit: hélas! je te prie, ce peuple a commis un grand péché, en se faisant des dieux d'or.
And he returned Moses to Yahweh and he said I beg you it has sinned the people this a sin great and they have made for themselves gods of gold.
32 Mais maintenant pardonne-leur leur péché; sinon, efface-moi maintenant de ton livre, que tu as écrit.
And therefore if you will forgive sin their and if not wipe out me please from book your which you have written.
33 Et l'Eternel répondit à Moïse: qui aura péché contre moi, je l'effacerai de mon livre.
And he said Yahweh to Moses who? [is [the] one] who he has sinned to me I will wipe out him from book my.
34 Va maintenant, conduis le peuple au lieu duquel je t'ai parlé; voici, mon Ange ira devant toi; et le jour que je ferai punition, je punirai sur eux leur péché.
And now go - lead the people to where I have spoken to you there! angel my he will go before you and on [the] day visit I and I will visit on them sin their.
35 Ainsi l'Eternel frappa le peuple, parce qu'ils avaient été les auteurs du Veau qu'Aaron avait fait.
And he struck Yahweh the people on that they had made the calf which he had made Aaron.
