Exode 24

1 Puis il dit à Moïse: monte vers l'Eternel, toi et Aaron, Nadab et Abihu, et soixante et dix des Anciens d'Israël; et vous vous prosternerez de loin.

And he said to Moses: Come up to the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abiu, and seventy of the ancients of Israel, and you shall adore afar off.

2 Et Moïse s'approchera seul de l'Eternel, mais eux ne s'en approcheront point, et le peuple ne montera point avec lui.

And Moses alone shall come up to the Lord, but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people come up with him.

3 Alors Moïse vint, et récita au peuple toutes les paroles de l'Eternel, et toutes ses lois, et tout le peuple répondit tout d'une voix, et dit: Nous ferons toutes les choses que l'Eternel a dites.

So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice: We will do all the words of the Lord, which he hath spoken.

4 Or Moïse écrivit toutes les paroles de l'Eternel, et s'étant levé de bon matin, il bâtit un autel au bas de la montagne, et [dressa] pour monument douze pierres pour les douze Tribus d'Israël.

And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord: and rising in the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mount, and twelve titles according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

5 Et il envoya des jeunes hommes des enfants d'Israël qui offrirent des holocaustes, et qui sacrifièrent des veaux à l'Eternel, en sacrifices de prospérités.

And he sent young men of the children of Israel, and they offered holocausts, and sacrificed pacific victims of calves to the Lord.

6 Et Moïse prit la moitié du sang, et le mit dans des bassins, et répandit l'autre moitié sur l'autel.

Then Moses took half of the blood, and put it into bowls: and the rest he poured upon the altar.

7 Ensuite il prit le livre de l'alliance, et le lut, le peuple l'écoutant, qui dit: Nous ferons tout ce que l'Eternel a dit, et nous obéirons.

And taking the book of the covenant, he read it in the hearing of the people: and they said: All things that the Lord hath spoken we will do, we will be obedient.

8 Moïse donc prit le sang, et le répandit sur le peuple, en disant: Voici le sang de l'alliance que l'Eternel a traitée avec vous, selon toutes ces paroles.

And he took the blood and sprinkled it upon the people, and he said: This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.

9 Puis Moïse, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, et les soixante et dix Anciens d'Israël montèrent;

Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abiu, and seventy of the ancients of Israel went up:

10 Et ils virent le Dieu d'Israël, et sous ses pieds comme un ouvrage de carreaux de saphir, qui ressemblait au ciel lorsqu'il est serein.

And they saw the God of Israel: and under his feet as it were a work of sapphire stone, and as the heaven, when clear.

11 Et il ne mit point sa main sur ceux qui avaient été choisis d'entre les enfants d'Israël; ainsi ils virent Dieu, et ils mangèrent et burent.

Neither did he lay his hand upon those of the children of Israel, that retired afar off, and they saw God, and they did eat and drink.

12 Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse: monte vers moi sur la montagne, et demeure là; et je te donnerai des tables de pierre, et la loi et les commandements que j'ai écrits, pour les enseigner.

And the Lord said to Moses: Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and the law, and the commandments which I have written: that thou mayst teach them.

13 Alors Moïse se leva avec Josué qui le servait; et Moïse monta sur la montagne de Dieu;

Moses rose up, and his minister Josue: and Moses going up into the mount of God,

14 Et il dit aux Anciens d'Israël: Demeurez ici en nous attendant; jusqu'à ce que nous retournions vers vous; et voici, Aaron et Hur seront avec vous; quiconque aura quelque affaire, qu'il s'adresse à eux.

Said to the ancients: Wait ye here till we return to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you: if any question shall arise, you shall refer it to them.

15 Moïse donc monta sur la montagne, et une nuée couvrit la montagne.

And when Moses was gone up, a cloud covered the mount.

16 Et la gloire de l'Eternel demeura sur la montagne de Sinaï, et la nuée la couvrit pendant six jours; et au septième jour il appela Moïse au milieu de la nuée.

And the glory of the Lord dwelt upon Sinai, covering it with a cloud six days: and the seventh day he called him out of the midst of the cloud.

17 Et ce qu'on voyait de la gloire de l'Eternel au sommet de la montagne, était comme un feu consumant, les enfants d'Israël le voyant.

And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like a burning fire upon the top of the mount, in the eyes of the children of Israel.

18 Et Moïse entra dans la nuée, et monta sur la montagne; et Moïse fut sur la montagne quarante jours et quarante nuits.

And Moses, entering into the midst of the cloud, went up into the mountain: and he was there forty days, and forty nights.
