Ecclésiaste 1
1 Les paroles de l'Ecclésiaste, fils de David, Roi de Jérusalem.
[the] words of Teacher [the] son of David king in Jerusalem.
2 Vanité des vanités, dit l'Ecclésiaste; vanité des vanités, tout est vanité.
Futility of futilities he said Teacher futility of futilities everything [is] futility.
3 Quel avantage a l'homme de tout son travail auquel il s'occupe sous le soleil?
What? profit [belongs] to humankind in all toil his that he toils under the sun.
4 Une génération passe, et l'autre génération vient, mais la terre demeure toujours ferme.
A generation [is] going and a generation [is] coming and the earth for ever [is] continuing.
5 Le soleil aussi se lève, et le soleil se couche, et il soupire après le lieu d'où il se lève.
And it rises the sun and it goes the sun and to place its [is] panting [is] rising it there.
6 Le vent va vers le Midi, et tournoie vers l'Aquilon; il va tournoyant çà et là, et il retourne après ses circuits.
[it is] going To [the] south and [it is] circling to [the] north circling around - circling around [is] going the wind and on circuits its [is] returning the wind.
7 Tous les fleuves vont en la mer, et la mer n'en est point remplie; les fleuves retournent au lieu d'où ils étaient partis, pour revenir [en la mer].
All the rivers [are] going to the sea and the sea not it [is] full to [the] place where the rivers [are] going there they [are] returning to go.
8 Toutes choses travaillent [plus que] l'homme ne saurait dire: l'œil n'est jamais rassasié de voir, ni l'oreille assouvie d'ouïr.
All things [are] wearisome not he is able anyone to speak [them] not it is satisfied an eye by seeing and not it is filled an ear from hearing.
9 Ce qui a été, c'est ce qui sera; et ce qui a été fait, est ce qui se fera, et il n'y a rien de nouveau sous le soleil.
Whatever it has been it [is] which will be and whatever (which has been done *L(abh)*) it [is] which will be done and there not [is] any new [thing] under the sun.
10 Y a-t-il quelque chose dont on puisse dire: Regarde cela, il est nouveau? Il a déjà été dans les siècles qui ont été avant nous.
[is] there? Anything that anyone will say see this [is] new it already it has been to ancient times which it was from to before us.
11 On ne se souvient point des choses qui ont précédé, on ne se souviendra point des choses qui seront à l'avenir, et ceux qui viendront n'en auront aucun souvenir.
There not [is] remembrance of the former [things] and also of the subsequent [things] that they will be not it will be of them remembrance with who will be to the later [time].
12 Moi l'Ecclésiaste, j'ai été Roi sur Israël à Jérusalem;
I Teacher I was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13 Et j'ai appliqué mon cœur à rechercher et à sonder par la sagesse tout ce qui se faisait sous les cieux, ce qui est une occupation fâcheuse que Dieu a donnée aux hommes, afin qu'ils s'y occupent.
And I gave heart my to study and to discover by wisdom on all that it has been done under the heavens it - [is] a task of evil [which] he has given God to [the] children of humankind to be busy with it.
14 J'ai regardé tout ce qui se faisait sous le soleil, et voilà tout est vanité, et rongement d'esprit.
I have seen all the works that have been done under the sun and there! everything [is] futility and striving of wind.
15 Ce qui est tortu ne se peut redresser; et les défauts ne se peuvent nombrer.
[something] bent Not it is able to become straight and something missing not it is able to be numbered.
16 J'ai parlé en mon cœur, disant: Voici, je me suis agrandi et accru en sagesse, par-dessus tous ceux qui ont été avant moi sur Jérusalem, et mon cœur a vu beaucoup de sagesse et de science.
I have spoken I with heart my saying I here! I have made great and I have increased wisdom above every [one] who he was before me over Jerusalem and heart my it has seen much wisdom and knowledge.
17 Et j'ai appliqué mon cœur à connaître la sagesse, et à connaître les sottises et la folie, [mais] j'ai reconnu que cela aussi était un rongement d'esprit.
And I gave! heart my to know wisdom and to know madness and folly I knew that also this it [is] a striving of wind.
18 Car où il y a abondance de sagesse, il y a abondance de chagrin; et celui qui s'accroît de la science, s'accroît du chagrin.
For [is] in abundance of wisdom abundance of frustration so someone may increase knowledge he will increase pain.
