Deutéronome 2
1 Alors nous retournâmes en arrière, et nous allâmes, au désert par le chemin de la mer Rouge, comme l'Eternel m'avait dit, et nous tournoyâmes longtemps près de la montagne de Séhir.
And we turned and we set out the wilderness towards [the] way of [the] sea of reed[s] just as he had spoken Yahweh to me and we went around [the] hill country of Seir days many.
2 Et l'Eternel parla à moi, en disant:
And he said Yahweh to me saying.
3 Vous avez assez tournoyé près de cette montagne, tournez-vous vers le Septentrion.
[is] enough For you going round the hill country this turn yourselves north-ward.
4 Et commande au peuple, en disant: Vous allez passer la frontière de vos frères, les enfants d'Esaü qui demeurent en Séhir, et ils auront peur de vous, mais soyez bien sur vos gardes.
And the people command saying you [are] about to pass in [the] territory of relatives your [the] descendants of Esau who dwell in Seir so they may be afraid from you and you will take heed exceedingly.
5 N'ayez point de démêlé avec eux; car je ne vous donnerai rien de leur pays, non pas même pour y pouvoir asseoir la plante du pied, parce que j'ai donné à Esaü la montagne de Séhir en héritage.
May not you engage in strife with them for not I will give to you any of land their up to a treading place of [the] sole of a foot for a possession to Esau I have given [the] hill country of Seir.
6 Vous achèterez d'eux les vivres à prix d'argent, et vous en mangerez; vous achèterez aussi d'eux l'eau à prix d'argent, et vous en boirez.
Food you will buy from with them for silver and you will eat and also water you will buy from with them for silver and you will drink.
7 Car l'Eternel ton Dieu t'a béni dans tout le travail de tes mains; il a connu le chemin que tu as tenu dans ce grand désert, [et] l'Eternel ton Dieu a été avec toi pendant ces quarante ans, [et] rien ne t'a manqué.
For Yahweh God your he has blessed you in all [the] work of hand your he has known walking you the wilderness great this this - forty year[s] Yahweh God your [has been] with you not you have lacked anything.
8 Or nous nous détournâmes de nos frères les enfants d'Esaü, qui demeuraient en Séhir, depuis le chemin de la campagne, depuis Elath, et depuis Hetsjonguéber; et [de là] nous nous détournâmes et nous passâmes par le chemin du désert de Moab.
And we passed away from with relatives our [the] descendants of Esau who were dwelling in Seir from [the] way of the desert plain from Elath and from Ezion Geber. And we turned and we passed along [the] way of [the] wilderness of Moab.
9 Et l'Eternel me dit: Ne traitez point les Moabites en ennemis, et n'entrez point en guerre avec eux; car je ne te donnerai rien de leur pays en héritage; parce que j'ai donné Har en héritage aux enfants de Lot.
And he said Yahweh to me to you may provoke Moab and may not you engage in strife with them battle for not I will give to you any of land his a possession for to [the] descendants of Lot I have given Ar a possession.
10 Les Emins y habitaient auparavant; c'était un grand peuple, et en grand nombre, et de haute stature comme les Hanakins.
The Emites before they dwelt in it a people great and numerous and lofty like the Anakites.
11 Et en effet ils ont été réputés pour Réphaïms comme les Hanakins, et les Moabites les appelaient Emins.
Rephaites they were regarded also they like the Anakites and the Moabites they called them Emites.
12 Les Horiens demeuraient aussi auparavant en Séhir, mais les enfants d'Esaü les en dépossédèrent, et les détruisirent de devant eux, et ils y habitèrent en leur place, ainsi qu'a fait Israël dans le pays de son héritage que l'Eternel lui a donné.
And in Seir they dwelt the Horites before and [the] descendants of Esau they dispossessed them and they destroyed them from before them and they dwelt in place of them just as it did Israel to [the] land of possession its which he gave Yahweh to them.
13 [Mais] maintenant levez-vous, et passez le torrent de Zéred; et nous passâmes le torrent de Zéred.
Now arise and pass over yourselves [the] wadi of Zered and we passed over [the] wadi of Zered.
14 Or le temps que nous avons marché depuis Kadès-barné, jusqu'à ce que nous avons eu passé le torrent de Zéred, a été de trente et huit ans, jusqu'à ce que toute cette génération-là, [savoir] les gens de guerre, a été consumée du milieu du camp, comme l'Eternel le leur avait juré.
And the days which we walked - from Kadesh Barnea until that we passed over [the] wadi of Zered [were] thirty and eight year[s] until was finished all the generation [the] men of war from [the] midst of the camp just as he had sworn Yahweh to them.
15 Aussi la main de l'Eternel a été contr'eux pour les détruire du milieu du camp, jusqu'à ce qu'il les ait consumés.
And also [the] hand of Yahweh it was on them to disturb them from [the] midst of the camp until were finished they.
16 Or il est arrivé qu'après que tous les hommes de guerre d'entre le peuple ont été consumés par la mort;
And it was just when they had finished all [the] men of war to die from [the] midst of the people.
17 L'Eternel m'a parlé et m'a dit:
And he spoke Yahweh to me saying.
18 Tu vas passer aujourd'hui la frontière de Moab, [savoir] Har.
You [are] about to pass over this day [the] border of Moab Ar.
19 Tu approcheras vis à vis des enfants de Hammon; tu ne les traiteras point en ennemis, et tu n'auras point de démêlé avec eux; car je ne te donnerai rien du pays des enfants de Hammon en héritage, parce que je l'ai donné en héritage aux enfants de Lot.
And you will draw near in front of [the] people of Ammon may not you provoke them and may not you engage in strife with them for not I will give any of [the] land of [the] people of Ammon to you a possession for to [the] descendants of Lot I have given it a possession.
20 Ce [pays] aussi a été réputé pays des Réphaïms; [car] les Réphaïms y habitaient auparavant, et les Hammonites les appelaient Zamzummins;
[the] land of [the] Rephaites It was regarded also it [the] Rephaites they dwelt in it before and the Ammonites they called them Zamzummites.
21 Qui étaient un peuple grand et nombreux, et de haute stature comme les Hanakins, mais l'Eternel les fit détruire de devant eux, et ils les dépossédèrent, et [y] habitèrent en leur place.
A people great and numerous and lofty like the Anakites and he destroyed them Yahweh from before them and they dispossessed them and they dwelt in place of them.
22 Comme il avait fait aux enfants d'Esaü qui demeuraient en Séhir, quand il fit détruire les Horiens de devant eux; et ainsi ils les dépossédèrent, et y habitèrent en leur place jusqu'à ce jour.
Just as he had done for [the] descendants of Esau who were dwelling in Seir whom he destroyed the Horite[s] from before them and they dispossessed them and they have dwelt in place of them until the day this.
23 Or quant aux Hauviens, qui demeuraient en Hatsérim, jusqu'à Gaza, ils furent détruits par les Caphtorins, qui étant sortis de Caphtor, vinrent demeurer en leur place.
And the Avvites who were dwelling in villages to Gaza [the] Caphtorites who came forth from Caphtor they destroyed them and they dwelt in place of them.
24 [L'Eternel dit aussi]: Levez-vous, et partez, et passez le torrent d'Arnon; Regarde, j'ai livré entre tes mains Sihon, Roi de Hesbon Amorrhéen, avec son pays, commence d'en prendre possession, et fais-lui la guerre.
Arise set out and pass over [the] wadi of Arnon see I give in hand your Sihon [the] king of Heshbon the Amorite and land his begin take possession of [it] and engage in strife with him battle.
25 Je commencerai aujourd'hui à jeter la frayeur et la peur de toi sur les peuples qui sont sous tous les cieux, car ayant ouï parler de toi ils trembleront, et seront en angoisse à cause de ta présence.
The day this I will begin to put dread your and fear your on [the] face of the peoples under all the heavens who they will hear! report your and they will tremble and they will be in anguish because of you.
26 Alors j'envoyai du désert de Kédémoth des messagers à Sihon, Roi de Hesbon, avec des paroles de paix, disant:
And I sent messengers from [the] wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon [the] king of Heshbon words of peace saying.
27 Que je passe par ton pays et j'irai par le grand chemin, sans me détourner ni à droite ni à gauche.
Let me pass in land your on the road on the road I will go not I will turn aside right [hand] and left [hand].
28 Tu me feras distribuer des vivres pour de l'argent, afin que je mange; tu me donneras de l'eau pour de l'argent, afin que je boive; seulement que j'y passe de mes pieds.
Food for silver you will sell me and I will eat and water for silver you will give to me and I will drink only let me pass through on feet my.
29 Ainsi que m'ont fait les enfants d'Esaü qui demeurent en Séhir, les Moabites qui demeurent à Har, jusqu'à ce que je passe le Jourdain pour entrer au pays que l'Eternel notre Dieu, nous donne.
Just as they did for me [the] descendants of Esau who dwell in Seir and the Moabites who dwell in Ar until that I will pass over the Jordan into the land which Yahweh God our [is] about to give to us.
30 Mais Sihon, Roi de Hesbon, ne voulut point nous laisser passer par son pays, car l'Eternel ton Dieu avait endurci son esprit, et roidi son cœur, afin de le livrer entre tes mains, comme [il paraît] aujourd'hui.
And not he was willing Sihon [the] king of Heshbon to let pass us in him for he had made stubborn Yahweh God your spirit his and he had made obstinate heart his so as to give him in hand your as the day this.
31 Et l'Eternel me dit: Regarde, j'ai commencé de te livrer Sihon avec son pays; commence à posséder son pays, pour le tenir en héritage.
And he said Yahweh to me see I have begun to deliver up before you Sihon and land his begin take possession to take possession of land his.
32 Sihon donc sortit contre nous, lui et tout son peuple pour combattre en Jahats.
And he came forth Sihon to meet us he and all people his for battle Jahaz towards.
33 Mais l'Eternel notre Dieu nous le livra, et nous le battîmes, lui, ses enfants, et tout son peuple.
And he delivered up him Yahweh God our before us and we struck down him and (sons his *Q(K)*) and all people his.
34 Et en ce temps-là nous prîmes toutes ses villes; et nous détruisîmes à la façon de l'interdit toutes les villes où étaient les hommes, les femmes, et les petits enfants, et nous n'y laissâmes personne de reste.
And we captured all cities his at the time that and we totally destroyed every city of men and the women and the little one[s] not we spared a survivor.
35 Seulement nous pillâmes les bêtes pour nous, et le butin des villes que nous avions prises.
Only the livestock we plundered for ourselves and [the] booty of the cities which we had captured.
36 Depuis Haroher, qui est sur le bord du torrent d'Arnon, et la ville qui est dans le torrent, jusqu'en Galaad, il n'y eut pas une ville qui pût se garantir de nous; l'Eternel notre Dieu nous les livra toutes.
From Aroer which [is] on [the] edge of [the] wadi of Arnon and the city which [is] in the wadi and to Gilead not it was a town which it was [too] high for us every one he delivered up Yahweh God our before us.
37 Seulement tu ne t'es point approché du pays des enfants de Hammon, ni d'aucun endroit qui touche le torrent de Jabbok, ni des villes de la montagne, ni d'aucun [lieu] que l'Eternel notre Dieu nous eût défendu [de conquérir].
Only to [the] land of [the] people of Ammon not you drew near all [the] side of [the] wadi of Jabbok and [the] cities of the hill country and all that he had commanded Yahweh God our.
