Amos 6
1 Hola! vous qui êtes à votre aise en Sion, et vous qui vous confiez en la montagne de Samarie, [lieux] les plus renommés d'entre les principaux des nations, auxquels va la maison d'Israël.
Woe to them [that are] at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, [who are] named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
2 Passez jusqu'à Calne, et regardez; et vous en allez de là à Hamath la grande; puis descendez à Gath des Philistins; n'étaient-ils pas plus excellents que ces Royaumes-ci? Leur pays n'était-il pas plus étendu que votre pays?
Pass ye to Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: [are they] better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?
3 Vous qui éloignez les jours de la calamité, et qui approchez de vous le siège de violence;
Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
4 Qui vous couchez sur des lits d'ivoire, et vous étendez sur vos couches; qui mangez les agneaux [choisis] du troupeau, et les veaux pris du lieu où on les engraisse;
That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat lambs from the flock, and calves from the midst of the stall;
5 Qui fredonnez au son de la musette; qui inventez des instruments de musique, comme David;
That chant to the sound of the viol, [and] invent to themselves instruments of music, like David;
6 Qui buvez le vin dans des bassins, et vous parfumez des parfums les plus exquis, et qui n'êtes point malades pour la plaie de Joseph.
That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
7 A cause de cela ils s'en iront incessamment en captivité, entre les premiers qui s'en iront en captivité, et le luxe de ces personnes voluptueuses prendra fin.
Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.
8 Le Seigneur l'Eternel a juré par soi-même, l'Eternel Dieu des armées dit ainsi: J'ai en détestation l'orgueil de Jacob, et j'ai en haine ses palais, c'est pourquoi je livrerai la ville, et tout ce qui est en elle.
The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellence of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore I will deliver up the city with all its abundance.
9 Et s'il arrive qu'il y ait dix hommes de reste dans une maison, ils mourront.
And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, they shall die.
10 Et l'oncle de chacun d'eux les prendra, et les brûlera pour en mettre les os hors de la maison; et il dira à celui qui sera au fond de la maison: y a-t-il encore quelqu'un avec toi? Et il répondra: C'en est la fin. Puis [son oncle lui] dira: Tais-toi; car [aussi] ils n'eussent point fait commémoration du nom de l'Eternel.
And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring the bones out of the house, and shall say to him that [is] by the sides of the house, [Is there] yet [any] with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.
11 Car voici l'Eternel commande, et il frappera les grandes maisons par des débordements d'eau, et les petites maisons par des fentes.
For behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
12 Les chevaux courront-ils par les rochers? ou y labourera-t-on avec des bœufs? mais vous avez changé le jugement en fiel, et le fruit de la justice en absinthe.
Shall horses run upon the rock? will [one] plow [there] with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
13 Vous vous réjouissez en des choses de néant, [et] vous dites: Ne nous sommes-nous pas acquis de l'élévation par notre force?
Ye who rejoice in a thing of naught, who say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?
14 Mais, ô maison d'Israël! voici, j'élèverai contre vous une nation, dit l'Eternel le Dieu des armées, laquelle vous opprimera depuis l'entrée de Hamath jusqu'au torrent du désert.
But behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Hamath to the river of the wilderness.
