2 Samuel 3
1 Or il y eut une longue guerre entre la maison de Saül, et la maison de David. Mais David s'avançait et se fortifiait; et la maison de Saül allait en diminuant.
Therfor long strijf was maad bitwixe the hows of Dauid and `bitwixe the hows of Saul; and Dauid profitide and euere was strongere than hym silf, forsothe the hows of Saul decreesside ech dai.
2 Et il naquit à David des fils à Hébron; son premier-né fut Amnon, d'Ahinoham, qui était de Jizréhel.
And sones weren borne to Dauid in Ebron; and his firste gendrid sone was Amon, of Achynoem of Jezrael;
3 Le second fut Kiléab, d'Abigal, [qui avait été] femme de Nabal, lequel était de Carmel. Le troisième fut Absalom, fils de Mahaca, fille de Talmaï, Roi de Guesur.
and aftir hym was Celeab, of Abigail, wijf of Nabal of Carmele; sotheli the thrydde was Absolon, the sone of Maacha, douytir of Tholomay, kyng of Gessur;
4 Le quatrième fut Adonija, fils de Haggith. Le cinquième fut Sephatja, fils d'Abital.
forsothe the fourthe was Adonyas, the sone of Agith; and the fyuethe was Saphacias, the sone of Abitail; and the sixte was Gethraam of Egla,
5 Et le sixième fut Jithréham, d'Hegla, [qui était aussi] femme de David. Ceux-ci naquirent à David à Hébron.
the wijf of Dauid. These weren borne to Dauid in Ebron.
6 Il arriva donc que pendant qu'il y eut guerre entre la maison de Saül et la maison de David, Abner soutenait la maison de Saül.
Therfor whanne batel was bytwixe the hows of Saul and the hows of Dauid, Abner, the sone of Ner, gouernyde the hows of Saul.
7 Or Saül avait eu une concubine nommée Ritspa, fille d'Aja; et [Is-boseth] dit à Abner: Pourquoi es-tu venu vers la concubine de mon père?
Sotheli a concubyn, that is, a secoundarie wijf, Respha bi name, the douytir of Achia, `was to Saul; and Abner entride to hir.
8 Et Abner fut fort irrité à cause du discours d'Is-boseth, et il lui dit: Suis-je une tête de chien, moi qui ai fait paraître en ce temps-ci contre Juda mon attachement pour la maison de Saül ton père et pour ses frères, et ses amis, en ne te faisant point tomber entre les mains de David, que tu me recherches aujourd'hui pour l'iniquité d'une femme?
And Isbosech seide to Abner, Whi `entridist thou to the concubyn of my fadir? Which was wrooth greetli for the wordis of Isbosech, and seide, Whether Y am the heed of a dogge ayens Juda to dai, and Y have do merci on the hous of Saul, thi fadir, and on hise britheren, and neiyboris, and Y bitook not thee in to the hondis of David, and thou hast souyt in me that, that thou schuldist repreue me for a womman to dai?
9 Que Dieu fasse ainsi à Abner, et ainsi il y ajoute, si je ne fais à David selon ce que l'Eternel lui a juré;
God do these thingis to Abner, and adde these thingis to hym, no but as the Lord swoor to Dauid, `so Y do with hym,
10 En lui transportant le Royaume de la maison de Saül, et en établissant le trône de David sur Israël et sur Juda, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beersébah!
that the rewme be translatid fro the hous of Saul, and the trone of Dauid be reisid on Israel and on Juda, fro Dan `til to Bersabee.
11 Et [Is-boseth] n'osa répondre un seul mot à Abner, à cause qu'il le craignait.
And Isbosech myyte not answere ony thing to Abner, for he dredde Abner.
12 Abner donc envoya des messagers à David de sa part, pour lui dire: A qui est le pays? [et pour lui] dire: Fais accord avec moi, et voici ma main sera avec toi, pour réduire sous ton pouvoir tout Israël.
Therfor Abner sente messangeris to Dauid, and thei seiden `for hym, Whos is the lond? and that the messangeris schulden speke, Make thou frenschipis with me, and myn hond schal be with thee, and Y schal brynge al Israel to thee.
13 Et David répondit: [Je le veux] bien; je ferai accord avec toi; je te demande seulement une chose, c'est que tu ne verras point ma face, si premièrement tu ne me ramènes Mical fille de Saül, quand tu viendras me voir.
And Dauid seide, Best Y schal make frenschipis with thee, but Y axe of thee o thing, and seie, Thou schalt not se my face, bifore that thou brynge Mycol, the douyter of Saul, and so thou schalt come, and schalt se me.
14 Alors David envoya des messagers à Is-boseth fils de Saül, pour lui dire: Rends moi ma femme Mical, que j'ai épousée pour cent prépuces des Philistins.
Therfor Dauid sente messangeris to Isbosech, the sone of Saul, and seide, Yelde thou my wijf Mycol, whom Y spouside to me for an hundryd prepucies of Filisteis.
15 Et Is-boseth envoya, et l'ôta à son mari Paltiel fils de Laïs.
Therfor Isbosech sente, and took hir fro hir hosebonde, Faltiel, son of Lais;
16 Et son mari s'en alla avec elle pleurant continuellement après elle, jusqu'à Bahurim; et Abner lui dit: Va, et t'en retourne; et il s'en retourna.
and hir hosebonde suede hir and wepte til Bahurym. And Abner seide to hym, Go thou, and turne ayen; and he turnede ayen.
17 Or Abner parla aux Anciens d'Israël, et leur dit: Vous cherchiez autrefois David pour [l'établir] Roi sur vous.
Also Abner brouyte in a word to the eldere men of Israel, and seide, Bothe yistirdai and the thridde dai ago ye souyten Dauid, that he schulde regne on you.
18 Maintenant donc faites-le; car l'Eternel a parlé de David, et a dit: Par le moyen de David mon serviteur je délivrerai mon peuple d'Israël de la main des Philistins, et de la main de tous leurs ennemis.
Now therfor do ye; for the Lord spak to Dauid, and seide, In the hond of my seruaunt Dauid Y schal saue my puple Israel fro the hond of Filisteis, and of alle his enemyes.
19 Et Abner parla de même à ceux de Benjamin, eux l'entendant; puis il s'en alla pour faire entendre expressément à David, [qui était] à Hébron, ce qui semblait bon à Israël, et à toute la maison de Benjamin.
Forsothe Abner spak also to Beniamyn, and he yede, that he schulde speke to Dauid, in Ebron, alle thingis that plesiden Israel and al Beniamin.
20 Et Abner vint vers David à Hébron, et vingt hommes avec lui; et David fit un festin à Abner, et aux hommes qui étaient avec lui.
And he cam to Dauid in Ebron with twenti men. And Dauid made a feeste to Abner, and to the men that camen with hym.
21 Puis Abner dit à David: Je me lèverai, et je m'en irai assembler tout Israël, [afin qu'ils se rendent] au Roi mon Seigneur, et qu'ils traitent alliance avec toi; et tu régneras comme ton âme le souhaite. Et David renvoya Abner, qui s'en alla en paix.
And Abner seide to Dauid, Y schal rise, that Y gadere al Israel to thee, my lord the kyng, and that Y make boond of pees with thee, and that thou regne on alle, as thi soule desirith. Therfor whanne Dauid hadde ledde forth Abner, and he hadde go in pees,
22 Or voici, les gens de David revenaient avec Joab, de faire quelque course, et ils amenaient avec eux un grand butin; mais Abner n'était plus avec David à Hébron; car il l'avait renvoyé, et il s'en était allé en paix.
anoon the children of Dauid and Joab camen with a ful grete prey, whanne theues weren slayn; sotheli Abner was not with Dauid, in Ebron, for Dauid hadde left hym, and he yede forth in pees.
23 Joab donc, et toute l'armée qui était avec lui, revint; et on fit ce rapport à Joab, en disant: Abner fils de Ner est venu vers le Roi, qui l'a renvoyé, et il s'en est allé en paix.
And Joab, and the oostis that weren with hym, camen aftirward; therfor it was teld to Joab of telleris, Abner, the sone of Ner, cam to the kyng, and the kyng lefte hym, and he yede in pees.
24 Et Joab vint au Roi, et dit: Qu'as-tu fait? Voici, Abner est venu vers toi; pourquoi l'as-tu ainsi renvoyé, tellement qu'il s'en soit allé son chemin?
And Joab entride to the kyng, and seide, What hast thou do? Lo! Abner cam to thee; whi leftist thou hym, and he yede, and departide?
25 Tu sais bien qu'Abner fils de Ner est venu pour te tromper, pour reconnaître ta sortie et ton entrée, et savoir tout ce que tu fais.
Knowist thou not Abner, the sone of Ner, for herto he cam to thee, that he schulde disseyue thee, and that he schulde knowe thi going out and thin entryng, and schulde knowe alle thingis whiche thou doist?
26 Et Joab sortit d'auprès de David, et envoya après Abner des gens qui le ramenèrent de la fosse de Sira, sans que David en sût rien.
Therfor Joab yede out fro Dauid, and sente messangeris aftir Abner; and `ledde hym ayen fro the cisterne of Cyrie, `while Dauid knew not.
27 Abner donc étant retourné à Hébron, Joab le tira à part au dedans de la porte pour lui parler en secret; et il le frappa là à la cinquième côte, et ainsi [Abner] mourut à cause du sang de Hasaël frère de Joab.
And whanne Abner hadde come ayen in to Ebron, Joab ledde hym asidis half to `the myddil of the yate, that he schulde speke to hym in gile; and he smoot Abner there in the schar, and he was deed, in to the veniaunce of the blood of his brother Asahel.
28 Et David ayant appris ce qui était arrivé, dit: Je suis innocent, moi et mon Royaume, devant l'Eternel à jamais, du sang d'Abner fils de Ner.
That whanne Dauid hadde herd the thing doon, he seide, Y am clene and my rewme anentis God til in to with outen ende fro the blood of Abner, sone of Ner;
29 Que ce sang s'arrête sur la tête de Joab, et sur toute la maison de son père; et que la maison de Joab ne soit jamais sans quelque homme ayant un flux, ou ayant la lèpre, ou s'appuyant sur un bâton, ou tombant par l'épée, ou ayant disette de pain.
and come it on the heed of Joab, and on al the hows of his fadir; a man suffrynge flux of seed, and a leprouse man, holdynge spyndil, and fallynge bi swerd, and hauynge nede to breed, `that is, suffrynge hungur, `faile not of the hows of Joab.
30 Ainsi Joab et Abisaï son frère tuèrent Abner, parce qu'il avait tué Hasaël leur frère près de Gabaon en la bataille.
Therfor Joab, and Abisay, his brother, killiden Abner, for he hadde slayn Asahel, her brother, in Gabaon, in batel.
31 Et David dit à Joab, et à tout le peuple qui était avec lui: Déchirez vos vêtements, et couvrez-vous de sacs, et menez deuil [en marchant] devant Abner. Et le Roi David marchait après le cercueil.
Forsothe Dauid seide to Joab, and to al the puple that was with hym, To rende ye your clothis, and be ye gird with sackis, and biweile ye bifor the heersis, `ether dirige, of Abner. Forsothe kyng Dauid suede the beere.
32 Et quand ils eurent enseveli Abner à Hébron, le Roi éleva sa voix, et pleura près du sépulcre d'Abner; tout le peuple aussi pleura.
And whanne thei hadden biried Abner in Ebron, kyng Dauid reiside his vois, and wepte on the biriel of Abner; `forsothe and al the puple wepte.
33 Et le Roi fit une complainte sur Abner, et dit: Abner est-il mort comme meurt un lâche?
And the kyng biweilide, and bymorenyde Abner, and seide, Abner, thou diedist not as dredeful men, `ethir cowardis, ben wont to die.
34 Tes mains n'étaient point liées, et tes pieds n'avaient point été mis dans des ceps d'airain, mais tu es tombé comme on tombe devant les méchants; et tout le peuple recommença à pleurer sur lui.
Thin hondis weren not boundun, and thi feet weren not greuyd with stockis, but thou feldist doun, as men ben wont to falle bifor the sones of wickidnesse. And al the puple doublide togidere, and wepte on hym.
35 Puis tout le peuple vint pour faire prendre quelque nourriture à David, pendant qu'il était encore jour; mais David jura, et dit: Que Dieu me fasse ainsi, et ainsi il y ajoute, si avant le soleil couché je goûte du pain, ni aucune autre chose.
And whanne al the multitude cam to take mete with Dauid, while the dai was yit cleer, Dauid swoor, and seide, God do to me these thingis, and adde these thingis, if Y schal taast breed ethir ony othir thing bifor the going doun of the sune.
36 Et tout le peuple l'entendit, et le trouva bon; et tout le peuple approuva tout ce que le Roi fit.
And al the puple herde; and alle thingis which the kyng dide in the siyt of al the puple plesiden hem;
37 En ce jour-là donc tout le peuple et tout Israël connut que ce qu'on avait fait mourir Abner fils de Ner, n'était point venu du Roi.
and al the comyn puple and al Israel knewe in that day, that it was not doon of the kyng, that Abner, the sone of Ner, was slayn.
38 Et le Roi dit à ses serviteurs: Ne savez-vous pas qu'un capitaine, et même un grand capitaine, a été aujourd'hui mis à mort en Israël?
Also the kyng seide to hise seruauntis, Whether ye witen not, that the prince and gretteste felde doun to dai in Israel?
39 Or je suis [encore] faible aujourd'hui, bien que j'aie été oint Roi, et ces gens, les fils de Tséruja, sont trop forts pour moi. L'Eternel veuille rendre à celui qui fait le mal selon sa malice.
Forsothe Y am `delicat, ether tendir, yit and anoyntid kyng; sotheli these sones of Saruye ben hard to me; the Lord yelde to hym that doith yuel bi his malice.
