2 Rois 8

1 Or Elisée avait parlé à la femme au fils de laquelle il avait rendu la vie, en disant: Lève-toi, et t'en va, toi et ta famille, et fais ton séjour où tu pourras; car l'Eternel a appelé la famine, et même elle vient sur le pays pour y demeurer sept ans.

Now, Elisha, had spoken unto the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying—Arise, and take thy journey, thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn, for Yahweh hath called for a famine, moreover also, it is coming upon the land seven years.

2 Cette femme-là donc s'étant levée avait fait selon la parole de l'homme de Dieu, et s'en était allée, elle et sa famille, et avait demeuré sept ans au pays des Philistins.

So the woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God, —and took her journey, she and her household, and she sojourned in the land of the Philistines, seven years.

3 Mais il arriva qu'au bout des sept ans cette femme-là s'en retourna du pays des Philistins, puis elle s'en alla pour faire requête au Roi touchant sa maison, et ses champs.

And it came to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines, —and she went forth to make outcry unto the king, concerning her house and concerning her field.

4 Alors le Roi parlait à Guéhazi serviteur de l'homme de Dieu, en disant: Je te prie récite-moi toutes les grandes choses qu'Elisée a faites.

Now, the king, was speaking unto Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, Do recount unto me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

5 Et il arriva que lorsqu'il récitait au Roi comment [Elisée] avait rendu la vie à un mort, voici, la femme, au fils de laquelle il avait rendu la vie, vint faire requête au Roi touchant sa maison, et ses champs. Et Guéhazi dit: Ô Roi mon Seigneur! c'est ici la femme, et c'est ici son fils, à qui Elisée a rendu la vie.

And so it was, just as he was recounting to the king how he had restored the dead to life, lo! the woman whose son he had restored to life, began making outcry unto the king, for her house and for her field. Then said Gehazi, My lord, O king! this, is the woman, and, this, her son, whom, Elisha, restored to life.

6 Alors le Roi interrogea la femme; et elle lui raconta [ce qui s'était passé]. Et le Roi lui donna un Eunuque, auquel il dit: Fais lui r'avoir tout ce qui lui appartenait, même tous les revenus de ses champs depuis le temps qu'elle a quitté le pays jusqu'à maintenant.

So the king asked the woman, and she recounted it to him, —the king, therefore, appointed her a certain officer, saying—Restore all that was hers, and all the increase of the field, from the day she left the land, even until now.

7 Or Elisée alla à Damas, et alors Ben-hadad Roi de Syrie était malade, et on lui rapporta, et on lui dit: L'homme de Dieu est venu ici.

And Elisha came into Damascus, when Ben-hadad king of Syria, was sick, —and it was told him, saying, The man of God hath come as far as this place.

8 Et le Roi dit à Hazaël: Prends quelque présent avec toi, et t'en va au devant de l'homme de Dieu, et par son moyen enquiers-toi de l'Eternel; en disant: Relèverai-je de cette maladie?

So the king said unto Hazael—Take in thy hand a present, and go to meet the man of God, —so shalt thou enquire of Yahweh, from him, saying, Shall I recover from this sickness?

9 Et Hazaël s'en alla au-devant de lui, ayant pris avec soi un présent, [savoir], quarante chameaux chargés de tout ce qu'il y avait de meilleur à Damas, et il vint, et se présenta devant lui, et dit: Ton fils Ben-hadad Roi de Syrie m'a envoyé vers toi, pour te dire: Relèverai-je de cette maladie?

So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present in his hand, even every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, —and came, and stood before him, and said—Thy son, Ben-hadad king of Syria, hath sent me unto thee, saying, Shall I recover from this sickness?

10 Et Elisée lui répondit: Va, [et] dis-lui: Certainement tu en pourrais relever; toutefois l'Eternel m'a montré que certainement il mourra.

And Elisha said unto him, Go, say to him, Thou shalt, recover; And yet Yahweh hath shown me, that he will, die.

11 Et l'homme de Dieu arrêta sa vue [sur Hazaël], et se retint longtemps; puis l'homme de Dieu pleura.

And he settled his countenance, and fixed it until he turned pale, —and the man of God, wept.

12 Et Hazaël dit: Pourquoi pleure mon Seigneur? Et il répondit: Parce que je sais combien tu feras de mal aux enfants d'Israël; tu mettras le feu à leurs villes fortes, et tu tueras avec l'épée leurs jeunes gens, et tu écraseras leurs petits enfants, et tu fendras leurs femmes enceintes.

Then said Hazael, Why, is my lord, weeping? And he said—Because I know what thou wilt do to the sons of Israel, by way of harm—Their fortresses, thou wilt set on fire, and, their choice young men, with the sword, thou wilt slay, and, their children, thou wilt dash in pieces, and, their women with child, thou wilt rip up.

13 Et Hazaël dit: Mais qui est ton serviteur, qui n'est qu'un chien, pour faire de si grandes choses? Et Elisée répondit: L'Eternel m'a montré que tu seras Roi de Syrie.

And Hazael said, But what is thy servant—the dog—that he should do this great thing? And Elisha said, Yahweh hath shown thee unto me, as king over Syria.

14 Ainsi [Hazaël] se retira d'avec Elisée, et revint vers son maître, qui lui demanda: Que t'a dit Elisée? Et il répondit: Il m'a dit, que certainement tu peux relever [de cette maladie].

So he departed from Elisha, and came in unto his lord, who said to him, What said, Elisha, unto thee? And he said. He told me thou wouldst, recover.

15 Mais il arriva que le lendemain [Hazaël] prit un drap épais, et l'ayant plongé dans l'eau, il l'étendit sur le visage de [Ben-hadad], dont il mourut; et Hazaël régna en sa place.

But it came to pass on the morrow, that he took the coverlet, and dipped it in water, and spread it over his face, that he died, —and, Hazael, reigned, in his stead.

16 r la cinquième année de Joram fils d'Achab Roi d'Israël, Josaphat étant Roi de Juda, Joram fils de Josaphat Roi de Juda, commença à régner sur Juda.

Now, in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoshaphat, having been king of Judah, Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, began to reign.

17 Il était âgé de trente-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.

Thirty-two years old, was he when he began to reign, and, eight years, reigned, he in Jerusalem.

18 Et il suivit le train des Rois d'Israël comme avait fait la maison d'Achab; car la fille d'Achab était sa femme, de sorte qu'il fit ce qui est déplaisant à l'Eternel.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as did the house of Ahab, for, a daughter of Ahab, became his wife, —and he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh.

19 Toutefois l'Eternel ne voulut point détruire Juda, pour l'amour de David son serviteur, selon ce qu'il lui avait dit, qu'il lui donnerait une lampe, à lui et à ses fils, à toujours.

Yet was not Yahweh willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, —even as he promised him to give him a lamp for his sons all the days.

20 De son temps ceux d'Edom se révoltèrent de l'obéissance de Juda, et établirent un Roi sur eux.

In his days, did Edom revolt from under the hand of Judah, —and they set over them a king.

21 C'est pourquoi Joram passa à Tsahir avec tous ses chariots, et se leva de nuit, et frappa les Iduméens qui étaient autour de lui, et les Gouverneurs des chariots; mais le peuple s'enfuit dans ses tentes.

So Joram passed over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, —and it came to pass that, he, arising by night, smote the Edomites that were round about unto him, and the captains of the chariots, and the people fled to their homes,

22 Néanmoins les Iduméens se révoltèrent de l'obéissance de Juda, [et cela a duré] jusqu'à aujourd'hui. En ce même temps-là Libna aussi se révolta.

Yet did Edom revolt from under the hand of Judah, unto this day, —then, revolted Libnah, at the same time.

23 Le reste des faits de Joram, tout ce, dis-je, qu'il a fait, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois de Juda?

Now, the rest of the story of Joram, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

24 Et Joram s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli avec eux dans la Cité de David; et Achazia son fils régna en sa place.

And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David, —and, Ahaziah his son, reigned, in his stead.

25 La douzième année de Joram fils d'Achab Roi d'Israël, Achazia fils de Joram Roi de Juda, commença à régner.

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, did Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah, begin to reign.

26 Achazia était âgé de vingt-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna un an à Jérusalem; sa mère avait nom Hathalia, [et était] fille de Homri Roi d'Israël.

Two and twenty years old, was Ahaziah when he began to reign, —and, one year, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, his mother’s name, was Athaliah, daughter of Omri, king of Israel;

27 Il suivit le train de la maison d'Achab, et fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, comme avait fait la maison d'Achab; car il était gendre de la maison d'Achab.

And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, like the house of Ahab, —for, son-in-law of the house of Ahab, was, he.

28 Or il s'en alla avec Joram fils d'Achab à la guerre contre Hazaël Roi de Syrie, et Ramoth de Galaad, et les Syriens frappèrent Joram.

And he went with Joram son of Ahab, to make war against Hazael king of Syria, in Ramoth-gilead, —and the Syrians wounded Joram.

29 Et le Roi Joram s'en retourna pour se faire panser à Jizréhel des plaies que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Rama, quand il combattit contre Hazaël Roi de Syrie, et Achazia fils de Joram, Roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram fils d'Achab à Jizréhel, parce qu'il était malade.

So Joram the king returned to get healed in Jezreel, from the wounds wherewith the Syrians had wounded him in Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria, —and, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah, went down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he, was sick.
