2 Rois 16

1 La dix-septième année de Pékach fils de Rémalia, Achaz fils de Jotham Roi de Juda, commença à régner.

In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah.

2 Achaz était âgé de vingt ans quand il commença à régner; et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem; et il ne fit point ce qui est droit devant l'Eternel son Dieu comme [avait fait] David son père.

Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. And unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD his God.

3 Mais il suivit le train des Rois d'Israël, et même il fit passer son fils par le feu, selon les abominations des nations que l'Eternel avait chassées de devant les enfants d'Israël.

Instead, he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and even sacrificed his son in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

4 Il sacrifiait aussi et faisait des encensements dans les hauts lieux, et sur les coteaux, et sous tout arbre verdoyant.

And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

5 Alors Retsin Roi de Syrie, et Pékach fils de Rémalia Roi d'Israël, montèrent contre Jérusalem pour lui faire la guerre, et ils assiégèrent Achaz; mais ils n'en purent point venir à bout par les armes.

Then Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to wage war against Jerusalem. They besieged Ahaz but could not overcome him.

6 En ce temps-là Retsin Roi de Syrie, remit Elath en la puissance des Syriens, car il déposséda les Juifs d'Elath, et les Syriens entrèrent à Elath, et ils y ont demeuré jusqu'à ce jour.

At that time Rezin king of Aram recovered Elath for Aram, drove out the men of Judah, and sent the Edomites into Elath, where they live to this day.

7 Or Achaz avait envoyé des messagers à Tiglath-piléser Roi des Assyriens, pour lui dire: Je suis ton serviteur, et ton fils; monte et délivre-moi de la main du Roi des Syriens, et de la main du Roi d'Israël, qui s'élèvent contre moi.

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me from the hands of the kings of Aram and Israel, who are rising up against me.”

8 Et Achaz avait pris l'argent et l'or qui s'était trouvé dans la maison de l'Eternel, et dans les trésors de la maison Royale, et il l'avait envoyé en don au Roi d'Assyrie.

Ahaz also took the silver and gold found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the king’s palace, and he sent it as a gift to the king of Assyria.

9 Et le Roi d'Assyrie y acquiesça, et monta à Damas, et la prit, et en transporta le peuple à Kir, et fit mourir Retsin.

So the king of Assyria responded to him, marched up to Damascus, and captured it. He took its people to Kir as captives and put Rezin to death.

10 Alors le Roi Achaz s'en alla au devant de Tiglath-piléser Roi d'Assyrie, à Damas; et le Roi Achaz ayant vu l'autel qui était à Damas, envoya à Urie le Sacrificateur la figure et le modèle de cet autel, selon toute la façon qu'il avait.

Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria. On seeing the altar in Damascus, King Ahaz sent Uriah the priest a model of the altar and complete plans for its construction.

11 Et Urie le Sacrificateur bâtit un autel, suivant tout ce que le Roi Achaz avait mandé de Damas; Urie le Sacrificateur le fit tout semblable, en attendant que le Roi Achaz fût revenu de Damas.

And Uriah the priest built the altar according to all the instructions King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, and he completed it by the time King Ahaz had returned.

12 Et quand le Roi Achaz fut revenu de Damas, et eut vu l'autel, il s'en approcha, et offrit sur cet autel;

When the king came back from Damascus and saw the altar, he approached it and presented offerings on it.

13 Et fit fumer son holocauste et son sacrifice, et versa ses aspersions, et répandit le sang de ses sacrifices de prospérité sur cet autel-là.

He offered his burnt offering and his grain offering, poured out his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on the altar.

14 Et quant à l'autel d'airain qui était devant l'Eternel, il le fit reculer de devant la maison, d'entre l'autel et la maison de l'Eternel, et le mit à côté de cet [autre] autel, vers le Septentrion.

He also took the bronze altar that stood before the LORD from the front of the temple (between the new altar and the house of the LORD) and he put it on the north side of the new altar.

15 Et le Roi Achaz commanda à Urie le Sacrificateur, et lui dit: Fais fumer l'holocauste du matin, et l'oblation du soir, et l'holocauste du Roi avec son gâteau, et l'holocauste de tout le peuple du pays avec leurs gâteaux et leurs aspersions sur le grand autel, et répands tout le sang des holocaustes et tout le sang des sacrifices sur cet autel; mais l'autel d'airain sera pour moi, afin de m'y enquérir [du Seigneur].

Then King Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, “Offer on the great altar the morning burnt offering, the evening grain offering, and the king’s burnt offering and grain offering, as well as the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings of all the people of the land. Sprinkle on the altar all the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar to seek guidance.”

16 Et Urie le Sacrificateur fit comme le Roi Achaz lui avait commandé.

So Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had commanded.

17 Le Roi Achaz retrancha aussi les embattements des soubassements, et en ôta les cuviers qui étaient dessus, et fit ôter la mer de dessus les bœufs d'airain, qui étaient dessous, et la mit sur un pavé de pierre.

King Ahaz also cut off the frames of the movable stands and removed the bronze basin from each of them. He took down the Sea from the bronze oxen that were under it and put it on a stone base.

18 Il ôta aussi de la maison de l'Eternel le couvert du Sabbat qu'on avait bâti au Temple, et l'entrée du Roi qui était en dehors, à cause du Roi des Assyriens.

And on account of the king of Assyria, he removed the Sabbath canopy they had built in the temple and closed the royal entryway outside the house of the LORD.

19 Le reste des faits d'Achaz, lesquels il a faits, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois de Juda?

As for the rest of the acts of Ahaz, along with his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

20 Puis Achaz s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli avec eux en la Cité de David; et Ezéchias son fils régna en sa place.

And Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David, and his son Hezekiah reigned in his place.
