2 Rois 12
1 La septième année de Jéhu, Joas commença à régner, et il régna quarante ans à Jérusalem; sa mère avait nom Tsibja, [et] elle était de Béer-sebah.
In the seventh year of Jehu became Jehoash king; and forty years did he reign in Jerusalem; and the name of his mother was Zibyah of Beer-sheba'.
2 Joas fit ce qui est droit devant l'Eternel pendant tout le temps que Jéhojadah le Sacrificateur l'enseigna.
And Jehoash did what is right in the eyes of the Lord all his days, that Yehoyada' the priest instructed him.
3 Toutefois les hauts lieux ne furent point ôtés, le peuple sacrifiait encore et faisait des encensements dans les hauts lieux.
Only the high-places were not removed: the people as yet sacrificed and burnt incense on the high-places.
4 Et Joas dit aux Sacrificateurs: Quant à tout l'argent consacré que l'on apporte dans la maison de l'Eternel, soit l'argent de tout homme qui passe par le dénombrement, soit l'argent des personnes selon l'estimation qu'en fait le Sacrificateur, [et] tout l'argent que chacun apporte volontairement dans la maison de l'Eternel;
And Jehoash said to the priests, all the money of the dedicated things that may be brought into the house of the Lord, the money of every one that passeth the numbering, the money any man is valued at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the Lord,
5 Que les Sacrificateurs le prennent par-devers eux, chacun de celui qu'il connaît, et qu'ils en réparent ce qui est à réparer du Temple, partout où l'on trouvera quelque chose à réparer.
The priests shall take to themselves, every man from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach may be found.
6 Mais il arriva que la vingt et troisième année du Roi Joas, les Sacrificateurs n'avaient point encore réparé ce qui était à réparer au Temple.
But it happened, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
7 Et le Roi Joas appela le Sacrificateur Jéhojadah, et les autres Sacrificateurs, et il leur dit: Pourquoi n'avez-vous pas réparé ce qui était à réparer au Temple? or maintenant ne prenez plus d'argent de ceux que vous connaissez, mais laissez-le pour ce qui est à réparer au Temple.
Then called king Jehoash for Yehoyada' the priest, and the [other] priests, and he said unto them, Wherefore do ye not repair the breaches of the house? and now ye shall take no more money from your acquaintances, but ye shall give it up [at once] for the breaches of the house.
8 Et les Sacrificateurs s'accordèrent à ne prendre plus l'argent du peuple, et à ne réparer point ce qui était à réparer au Temple.
And the priests consented neither to take any more money from the people, nor to repair the breaches of the house.
9 C'est pourquoi le Sacrificateur Jéhojadah prit un coffre, et fit un trou à son couvercle, et le mit auprès de l'autel à main droite, à l'endroit par où l'on entrait dans la maison de l'Eternel; et les Sacrificateurs qui gardaient les vaisseaux, mettaient là tout l'argent qu'on apportait à la maison de l'Eternel.
But Yehoyada' the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in its lid, and he placed it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the Lord: and the priests that kept watch at the threshold put therein all the money, that was brought into the house of the Lord.
10 Et dès qu'ils voyaient qu'il y avait beaucoup d'argent au coffre, le Secrétaire du Roi montait avec le grand Sacrificateur, et ils mettaient dans des sacs l'argent qui se trouvait dans la maison de l'Eternel, puis ils le comptaient.
And it happened, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high-priest came up, and they put up in bags, after having counted, the money that was found in the house of the Lord.
11 Et ils délivraient cet argent bien compté entre les mains de ceux qui avaient la charge de l'œuvre, [et] qui étaient commis sur la maison de l'Eternel, lesquels le distribuaient aux charpentiers et architectes qui refaisaient la maison de l'Eternel.
And they gave the money, after it was counted, into the hands of those who overlooked the workmen, that had been appointed as overseers of the house of the Lord: and they laid it out to the carpenters and to the builders, that wrought on the house of the Lord,
12 Et aux maçons, et aux tailleurs de pierres, pour acheter du bois et des pierres de taille, afin de réparer ce qui était à réparer dans la maison de l'Eternel, et [pour acheter] tout ce qu'il fallait employer pour la réparation du Temple.
And to the masons, and the hewers of stone, and for the purchase of timber and hewn stones to repair the breaches of the house of the Lord, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
13 Au reste, de cet argent qu'on apportait dans la maison de l'Eternel, on n'en faisait point de coupes d'argent, pour la maison de l'Eternel, ni de serpes, ni de bassins, ni de trompettes, ni aucun autre vaisseau d'or, ou vaisseau d'argent;
Nevertheless there were not made for the house of the Lord bowls of silver, knives, basins, trumpets, all kinds of vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, from the money that was brought into the house of the Lord;
14 Mais on le distribuait à ceux qui avaient la charge de l'œuvre, lesquels en réparaient la maison de l'Eternel.
But they gave it to those who overlooked the workmen, and they repaired therewith the house of the Lord.
15 Et on ne faisait point rendre compte à ceux entre les mains de qui on avait délivré cet argent pour le distribuer à ceux qui faisaient le travail; car ils [le] faisaient fidèlement.
And they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to give it to those who overlooked the workmen; for they acted in good faith.
16 L'argent [des sacrifices] pour le délit, et l'argent [des sacrifices] pour les péchés n'était point apporté dans la maison de l'Eternel; [car] il était aux Sacrificateurs.
The money for trespass-offerings and the money for sin-offerings was not brought into the house of the Lord: it belonged to the priests.
17 Alors Hazaël Roi de Syrie monta, et fit la guerre contre Gath, et la prit; puis Hazaël tourna visage pour monter contre Jérusalem.
At that time Chazael the king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and captured it: and Chazael directed his face to go up against Jerusalem.
18 Mais Joas Roi de Juda prit tout ce qui était consacré, que Josaphat, Joram, et Achazia ses pères, Rois de Juda, avaient consacré, et tout ce que lui-même avait consacré, et tout l'or qui se trouva dans les trésors de la maison de l'Eternel et de la maison du Roi, et l'envoya à Hazaël Roi de Syrie, qui se retira de devant Jérusalem.
Then took Jehoash the king of Judah all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Achazyahu, his fathers, the kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and in the king's house, and sent it to Chazael the king of Syria: and he withdrew from Jerusalem.
19 Le reste des faits de Joas, tout ce, dis-je, qu'il a fait, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois de Juda?
And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
20 r ses serviteurs se soulevèrent, et se liguèrent, et frappèrent Joas dans la maison de Millo, qui est à la descente de Silla.
And his servants arose, and formed a conspiracy, and smote Joash in Beth-millo, which [lieth on the road] that goeth down to Silla.
21 Jozacar fils de Simhath, et Jozabad fils de Somer ses serviteurs le frappèrent, et il mourut; et on l'ensevelit avec ses pères dans la Cité de David; et Amatsia son fils régna en sa place.
And Yozachar the son of Shim'ath, and Yehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amazyah his son became king in his stead.
