2 Chroniques 20
1 Après ces choses les enfants de Moab, et les enfants de Hammon vinrent, car les Hammonites s'étaient joints aux Moabites pour faire la guerre à Josaphat.
And it was after this they came [the] people of Moab and [the] people of Ammon and with them - some of the Ammonites on Jehoshaphat for battle.
2 Et on vint faire ce rapport à Josaphat, en disant: Il est venu contre toi une grande multitude de gens, des quartiers de delà la mer, [et] de Syrie; et voici ils sont à Hatsa-tson-tamar, qui est Henguedi.
And people came and they told to Jehoshaphat saying [is] coming on you a multitude great from [the] other side of the sea from Aram and there they [are] in Hazezon Tamar it [is] En Gedi.
3 Alors Josaphat craignit, et se disposa à rechercher l'Eternel, et publia le jeûne par tout Juda.
And he was afraid and he gave Jehoshaphat face his to seek Yahweh and he proclaimed a fast over all Judah.
4 Ainsi Juda fut assemblé pour demander du secours à l'Eternel; et on vint de toutes les villes de Juda pour invoquer l'Eternel.
And they gathered Judah to seek from Yahweh also from all [the] cities of Judah they came to seek Yahweh.
5 Et Josaphat se tint debout en l'assemblée de Juda et de Jérusalem dans la maison de l'Eternel, au devant du nouveau parvis.
And he stood Jehoshaphat in [the] assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in [the] house of Yahweh before the courtyard new.
6 Et il dit: Ô Eternel! Dieu de nos pères, n'es-tu pas le Dieu qui es aux cieux, et qui domines sur tous les Royaumes des nations? et certes en ta main est la force et la puissance, de sorte que nul ne peut te résister.
And he said O Yahweh [the] God of ancestors our ¿ not [are] you he God in the heavens and you [are] ruler over all [the] kingdoms of the nations and [are] in hand your power and strength and there not [is] with you to hold ground.
7 N'est-ce pas toi, ô notre Dieu! qui as dépossédé les habitants de ce pays de devant ton peuple d'Israël; et qui l'as donné pour toujours à la postérité d'Abraham, lequel t'aimait?
¿ Not - you O God our did you dispossess [the] inhabitants of the land this from to before people your Israel and you gave it to [the] offspring of Abraham friend your for ever.
8 De sorte qu'ils y ont habité, et t'y ont bâti un Sanctuaire pour ton Nom, en disant:
And they have dwelt in it and they have built for you - in it a sanctuary for name your saying.
9 S'il nous arrive quelque mal, [savoir] l'épée de la vengeance, ou la peste, ou la famine, nous nous tiendrons devant cette maison et en ta présence; parce que ton Nom est en cette maison, nous crierons à toi à cause de notre angoisse, tu nous exauceras, et tu nous délivreras.
If it will come on us calamity sword judgment and pestilence and famine we will stand before the house this and before you for name your [is] in the house this so we may cry out to you from distress our so you may hear and you may save.
10 Or maintenant voici, les enfants de Hammon et de Moab, et ceux du mont de Séhir, parmi lesquels tu ne permis point aux enfants d'Israël de passer quand ils venaient du pays d'Egypte, car ils se détournèrent d'eux, et ils ne les détruisirent point;
And therefore here! [the] people of Ammon and Moab and [the] mountain of Seir which not you permitted to Israel to go in them when came they from [the] land of Egypt for they turned aside from on them and not they destroyed them.
11 Voici, pour nous récompenser, ils viennent nous chasser de ton héritage, que tu nous as fait posséder.
And here! they [are] repaying to us by coming to drive out us from possession your which you caused to possess us.
12 Ô notre Dieu! ne les jugeras-tu pas? vu qu'il n'y a point de force en nous [pour subsister] devant cette grande multitude qui vient contre nous, et nous ne savons ce que nous devons faire; mais nos yeux sont sur toi.
O God our ¿ not will you enter into judgment on them for there not in us [is] strength before the multitude great this which is coming on us and we not we know what? will we do for [are] on you eyes our.
13 Et tous ceux de Juda se tenaient debout devant l'Eternel, avec leurs familles, leurs femmes, et leurs enfants.
(And all *LAB(h)*) Judah [were] standing before Yahweh also little one[s] their wives their and children their.
14 Alors l'Esprit de l'Eternel fut sur Jahaziël, fils de Zacharie, fils de Bénéia, fils de Jéhiël, fils de Mattania Lévite d'entre les enfants d'Asaph, au milieu de l'assemblée.
And Jahaziel [the] son of Zechariah [the] son of Benaiah [the] son of Jeiel [the] son of Mattaniah the Levite one of [the] descendants of Asaph it was on him [the] spirit of Yahweh in [the] midst of the assembly.
15 Et il dit: Vous tous de Juda, et vous qui habitez à Jérusalem, et toi, Roi Josaphat, soyez attentifs. L'Eternel vous parle ainsi: Ne craignez point, et ne soyez point effrayés à cause de cette grande multitude; car ce ne sera pas à vous de conduire cette guerre, mais à Dieu.
And he said pay attention O all Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem and the king Jehoshaphat thus he says Yahweh to you O you may not you be afraid and may not you be dismayed because of the multitude great this for not [belongs] to you the battle for to God.
16 Descendez demain vers eux; voici, ils vont monter par la montée de Tsits, et vous les trouverez au bout du torrent, vis-à-vis du désert de Jéruël.
Tomorrow go down on them there they [will be] coming up on [the] ascent of Ziz and you will find them at [the] end of the wadi [the] face of [the] wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Ce ne sera point à vous à combattre dans cette bataille, présentez-vous, tenez-vous debout, et voyez la délivrance que l'Eternel vous va donner. Juda et Jérusalem, ne craignez point, et ne soyez point effrayés; sortez demain au devant d'eux, car l'Eternel sera avec vous.
Not [belongs] to you to fight in this [battle] take your stand stand and see [the] victory of Yahweh with you O Judah and Jerusalem may not you be afraid and may not you be dismayed tomorrow go out before them and Yahweh [will be] with you.
18 Alors Josaphat s'inclina le visage contre terre, et tout Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem se jetèrent devant l'Eternel, se prosternant devant l'Eternel.
And he bowed low Jehoshaphat face [the] ground towards and all Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem they fell down before Yahweh to bow down to Yahweh.
19 Et les Lévites d'entre les enfants des Kéhathites, et d'entre les enfants des Corites, se levèrent pour louer d'une voix haute et éclatante l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël.
And they stood the Levites of [the] descendants of the Kohathites and of [the] descendants of the Korahites to praise Yahweh [the] God of Israel with a voice great upwards.
20 Puis ils se levèrent de grand matin, et sortirent vers le désert de Tékoah, et comme ils sortaient, Josaphat se tenant debout, dit: Juda, et vous habitants de Jérusalem, écoutez-moi. Croyez en l'Eternel votre Dieu, et vous serez en sûreté; croyez ses Prophètes, et vous prospérerez.
And they rose early in the morning and they went out to [the] wilderness of Tekoa and when went out they he stood Jehoshaphat and he said listen to me O Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem trust in Yahweh God your so you may be established trust in prophets his and succeed.
21 Puis ayant consulté avec le peuple, il établit des gens pour chanter à l'Eternel et pour louer sa sainte magnificence, [lesquels] marchant devant l'armée, disaient: Célébrez l'Eternel, car sa gratuité demeure à toujours.
And he consulted the people and he appointed [those who] sang to Yahweh and [those who] praised to adornment of holiness when went out before the [man] equipped and saying give thanks to Yahweh for [is] for ever covenant loyalty his.
22 Et à l'heure qu'ils commencèrent le chant du triomphe et la louange, l'Eternel mit des embûches contre les enfants de Hammon, les Moabites, et ceux du mont de Séhir, qui venaient contre Juda, de sorte qu'ils furent battus.
And at [the] time [when] they began with a shout of joy and praise he set Yahweh - ambushers on [the] people of Ammon Moab and [the] mountain of Seir who were coming to Judah and they were defeated.
23 Car les enfants de Hammon et les Moabites s'élevèrent contre les habitants du mont de Séhir, pour les détruire à la façon de l'interdit, et pour les exterminer; et quand ils eurent achevé d'exterminer les habitants de Séhir, ils s'aidèrent l'un l'autre à se détruire mutuellement.
And they rose up [the] people of Ammon and Moab on [the] inhabitants of [the] mountain of Seir to totally destroy [them] and to destroy [them] and just as had finished they with [the] inhabitants of Seir they helped each on neighbor his to destruction.
24 Et ceux de Juda vinrent jusqu'à l'endroit de Mitspa au désert, et regardant vers cette multitude, voilà, c'étaient tous des corps abattus par terre, sans qu'il en fût échappé un seul.
And Judah it came to the watchtower of the wilderness and they turned to the multitude and there they [were] corpses lying [the] ground towards and there not [was] an escaped remnant.
25 Ainsi Josaphat et son peuple vinrent pour piller leur butin, et ils trouvèrent de grandes richesses parmi les morts, et des hardes précieuses, et ils en prirent tant, qu'ils n'en pouvaient plus porter; ils pillèrent le butin pendant trois jours, car il y en avait en abondance.
And he went Jehoshaphat and people his to plunder booty their and they found among them to abundance and property and corpses and articles of precious things and they plundered for themselves to there not [was] carrying and they were days three plundering the booty for [was] much it.
26 Puis au quatrième jour ils s'assemblèrent dans la vallée [appelée] de bénédiction, parce qu'ils bénirent là l'Eternel; c'est pourquoi on a appelé ce lieu-là, la vallée de bénédiction, jusqu'à ce jour.
And on the day fourth they assembled to [the] valley of Berachah for there they blessed Yahweh there-fore people have called [the] name of the place that [the] valley of Berachah until this day.
27 Et tous les hommes de Juda et de Jérusalem, et Josaphat marchant le premier, tournèrent visage pour revenir à Jérusalem avec joie: car l'Eternel les avait remplis de joie à cause de leurs ennemis.
And they turned back every man of Judah and Jerusalem and Jehoshaphat at head their to return to Jerusalem with joy for he had made rejoice them Yahweh from enemies their.
28 Et ils entrèrent à Jérusalem dans la maison de l'Eternel, avec des musettes, des violons, et des trompettes.
And they came Jerusalem with lyres and with harps and with trumpets to [the] house of Yahweh.
29 Et la frayeur de Dieu fut sur tous les Royaumes de ce pays-là, quand ils eurent appris que l'Eternel avait combattu contre les ennemis d'Israël.
And it was [the] dread of God on all [the] kingdoms of the lands when heard they that he had fought Yahweh with [the] enemies of Israel.
30 Ainsi le Royaume de Josaphat fut en repos, parce que son Dieu lui donna du repos tout à l'entour.
And it was at peace [the] kingdom of Jehoshaphat and he had given rest to him God his from round about.
31 Josaphat donc régna sur Juda. Il était âgé de trente-cinq ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna vingt-cinq ans à Jérusalem; sa mère avait nom Hazuba, et elle était fille de Silhi.
And he reigned Jehoshaphat over Judah a son of thirty and five year[s] when became king he and twenty and five year[s] he reigned in Jerusalem and [the] name of mother his [was] Azubah [the] daughter of Shilhi.
32 Il suivit la voie d'Asa son père, et ne s'en détourna point, faisant ce qui est droit devant l'Eternel.
And he walked in [the] way of father his Asa and not he turned aside from it to do the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh.
33 Toutefois les hauts lieux ne furent point ôtés, parce que le peuple n'avait pas encore disposé son cœur envers le Dieu de ses pères.
Only the high places not they were removed and still the people not they directed heart their to [the] God of ancestors their.
34 Or le reste des faits de Josaphat, tant les premiers que les derniers, voilà ils sont écrits dans les Mémoires de Jéhu fils de Hanani, selon qu'il a été enregistré au Livre des Rois d'Israël.
And [the] rest of [the] matters of Jehoshaphat former and latter there they [are] written in [the] words of Jehu [the] son of Hanani which it was recorded on [the] scroll of [the] kings of Israel.
35 Après cela Josaphat Roi de Juda se joignit à Achazia Roi d'Israël, qui ne s'employait qu'à faire du mal.
And after this he made an alliance Jehoshaphat [the] king of Judah with Ahaziah [the] king of Israel he he acted wickedly to do.
36 Et il s'associa avec lui pour faire des navires et pour les envoyer en Tarsis; et ils firent ces navires à Hetsjonguéber.
And he allied himself with him to make ships to go Tarshish and they made ships in Ezion Geber.
37 Alors Elihézer fils de Dodava, de Marésa, prophétisa contre Josaphat, en disant: Parce que tu t'es joint à Achazia, l'Eternel a détruit tes ouvrages. Les navires donc furent brisés, et ils ne purent point aller en Tarsis.
And he prophesied Eliezer [the] son of Dodavahu from Mareshah on Jehoshaphat saying as making alliance you with Ahaziah he will break Yahweh works your and they were broken ships and not they retained to go to Tarshish.
