1 Jean 1
1 Ce qui était dès le commencement, ce que nous avons ouï, ce que nous avons vu de nos propres yeux, ce que nous avons contemplé, et que nos propres mains ont touché de la Parole de vie,
It is of what has been in existence from the Beginning, of what we have heard, of what we have seen with our eyes, of what we watched reverently and touched with our hands — it is about the Word who is the Life that we are now writing.
2 (Car la vie a été manifestée, et nous l'avons vue, et aussi nous le témoignons, et nous vous annonçons la vie éternelle, qui était avec le Père, et qui nous a été manifestée.) (aiōnios g166)
That Life was made visible, and we have seen it, and now bear our testimony to it, and tell you of that Immortal Life, which was with the Father and was made visible to us. (aiōnios g166)
3 Cela, [dis-je], que nous avons vu et ouï, nous vous l'annonçons; afin que vous ayez communion avec nous, et que notre communion [soit] avec le Père et avec son fils Jésus-Christ.
It is of what we have seen and heard that we now tell you, so that you may have communion with us. And our communion is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
4 Et nous vous écrivons ces choses, afin que votre joie soit parfaite.
And we are writing all this to you that our joy may be complete.
5 Or c'est ici la déclaration que nous avons entendue de lui, et que nous vous annonçons, [savoir], que Dieu est lumière, et qu'il n'y a en lui nulles ténèbres.
These, then, are the Tidings that we have heard from him and now tell you — ‘God is Light, and Darkness has no place at all in him.’
6 Si nous disons que nous avons communion avec lui, et que nous marchions dans les ténèbres, nous mentons, et nous n'agissons pas selon la vérité.
If we say that we have communion with him, and yet continue to live in the Darkness, we lie, and are not living the Truth.
7 Mais si nous marchons dans la lumière, comme Dieu est en la lumière, nous avons communion l'un avec l'autre, et le sang de son Fils Jésus-Christ nous purifie de tout péché.
But, if our lives are lived in the Light, as God himself is in the Light, we have communion with one another, and the Blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
8 Si nous disons que nous n'avons point de péché, nous nous séduisons nous-mêmes, et la vérité n'est point en nous.
If we say that there is no sin in us, we are deceiving ourselves, and the Truth has no place in us.
9 Si nous confessons nos péchés, il est fidèle et juste pour nous pardonner nos péchés, et nous nettoyer de toute iniquité.
If we confess our sins, God may be trusted, in his righteousness, to forgive us our sins and purify us from all wickedness.
10 Si nous disons que nous n'avons point de péché, nous le faisons menteur, et sa parole n'est point en nous.
If we say that we have not sinned, we are making God a liar, and his Message has no place in us.
