Psaumes 20

1 Au chef des chantres. Psaume de David. Que l’Éternel t’exauce au jour de la détresse, Que le nom du Dieu de Jacob te protège!

To the Chief Musician. A Melody of David. Yahweh answer thee, in the day of distress, The Name of the God of Jacob give thee safety;

2 Que du sanctuaire il t’envoie du secours, Que de Sion il te soutienne!

Send thy help out of the sanctuary, and, out of Zion, sustain thee;

3 Qu’il se souvienne de toutes tes offrandes, Et qu’il agrée tes holocaustes! (Pause)

Remember every present of thine, and, thine ascending-sacrifice, esteem. (Selah)

4 Qu’il te donne ce que ton cœur désire, Et qu’il accomplisse tous tes desseins!

Give thee according to thy heart, and, all thy purposes, fulfil.

5 Nous nous réjouirons de ton salut, Nous lèverons l’étendard au nom de notre Dieu; L’Éternel exaucera tous tes vœux.

We will shout aloud in thy salvation, and, in the Name of our God, shall we become great, Yahweh fulfil all thy petitions.

6 Je sais déjà que l’Éternel sauve son oint; Il l’exaucera des cieux, de sa sainte demeure, Par le secours puissant de sa droite.

Now, do I know that Yahweh, hath saved, his Anointed One, —He answereth him out of his holy heavens, by the mighty saving deeds of his own right hand.

7 Ceux-ci s’appuient sur leurs chars, ceux-là sur leurs chevaux; Nous, nous invoquons le nom de l’Éternel, notre Dieu.

These, by chariots, and, those, by horses, but, we, by the Name of Yahweh our God, will prevail.

8 Eux, ils plient, et ils tombent; Nous, nous tenons ferme, et restons debout.

They, have bowed down and fallen, but, we, have arisen, and stand upright.

9 Éternel, sauve le roi! Qu’il nous exauce, quand nous l’invoquons!

Yahweh, hath saved the king. Answer us, then, on the day when we call.
