1 J’aime l’Éternel, car il entend Ma voix, mes supplications;
It is lovely to me that the Lord heareth my voice, my supplications.
2 Car il a penché son oreille vers moi; Et je l’invoquerai toute ma vie.
For he hath inclined his ear unto me: therefore throughout all my days will I call on him.
3 Les liens de la mort m’avaient environné, Et les angoisses du sépulcre m’avaient saisi; J’étais en proie à la détresse et à la douleur. (Sheol h7585)
The bands of death had compassed me, and the pangs of the nether world had overtaken me; I had met with distress and sorrow: (Sheol h7585)
4 Mais j’invoquai le nom de l’Éternel: O Éternel, sauve mon âme!
I then called on the name of the Lord, I beseech thee, O Lord, release my soul.
5 L’Éternel est miséricordieux et juste, Notre Dieu est plein de compassion;
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; and our God is merciful.
6 L’Éternel garde les simples; J’étais malheureux, et il m’a sauvé.
The Lord preserveth the simple: I was in misery, and he helped me.
7 Mon âme, retourne à ton repos, Car l’Éternel t’a fait du bien.
Return, O my soul, unto thy rest; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8 Oui, tu as délivré mon âme de la mort, Mes yeux des larmes, Mes pieds de la chute.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.
9 Je marcherai devant l’Éternel, Sur la terre des vivants.
I will walk before the Lord in the land of life.
10 J’avais confiance, lorsque je disais: Je suis bien malheureux!
I believe, therefore will I speak: I was greatly afflicted;
11 Je disais dans mon angoisse: Tout homme est trompeur.
I indeed said in my despondency, Every man is a liar.
12 Comment rendrai-je à l’Éternel Tous ses bienfaits envers moi?
What shall I give in return unto the Lord for all his bounties toward me?
13 J’élèverai la coupe des délivrances, Et j’invoquerai le nom de l’Éternel;
The cup of salvation will I lift up, and on the name of the Lord will I call.
14 J’accomplirai mes vœux envers l’Éternel, En présence de tout son peuple.
My vows will I pay unto the Lord, yea, in the presence of all his people.
15 Elle a du prix aux yeux de l’Éternel, La mort de ceux qui l’aiment.
Grievous in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his pious ones.
16 Écoute-moi, ô Éternel! Car je suis ton serviteur, Ton serviteur, fils de ta servante. Tu as détaché mes liens.
O Lord, truly am I thy servant, I am thy servant, —the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosened my fetters.
17 Je t’offrirai un sacrifice d’actions de grâces, Et j’invoquerai le nom de l’Éternel;
Unto thee will I offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and on the name of the Lord will I call.
18 J’accomplirai mes vœux envers l’Éternel, En présence de tout son peuple,
My vows will I pay unto the Lord, yea, in the presence of all his people,
19 Dans les parvis de la maison de l’Éternel, Au milieu de toi, Jérusalem! Louez l’Éternel!
In the courts of the house of the Lord, in thy midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah.
