Psaumes 107
1 Louez l’Éternel, car il est bon, Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours!
O give thanks to Yahweh—For he is good, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
2 Qu’ainsi disent les rachetés de l’Éternel, Ceux qu’il a délivrés de la main de l’ennemi,
Let the redeemed of Yahweh say, Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary;
3 Et qu’il a rassemblés de tous les pays, De l’orient et de l’occident, du nord et de la mer!
And, out of the lands, hath gathered them—From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.
4 Ils erraient dans le désert, ils marchaient dans la solitude, Sans trouver une ville où ils pussent habiter.
They wandered about in the desert—in a waste, Way to a city to dwell in, found they none;
5 Ils souffraient de la faim et de la soif; Leur âme était languissante.
Hungry—yea thirsty, their soul, within them, fainted:
6 Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l’Éternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;
Then made they outcry to Yahweh, in their peril, Out of their distresses, he rescued them;
7 Il les conduisit par le droit chemin, Pour qu’ils arrivassent dans une ville habitable.
And led them by a straight road, That they might journey to a city to dwell in.
8 Qu’ils louent l’Éternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l’homme!
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men;
9 Car il a satisfait l’âme altérée, Il a comblé de biens l’âme affamée.
For he hath satisfied the longing soul, and, the famished soul, hath he filled with good.
10 Ceux qui avaient pour demeure les ténèbres et l’ombre de la mort Vivaient captifs dans la misère et dans les chaînes,
The dwellers in darkness and death-shade, bound with oppression and iron;
11 Parce qu’ils s’étaient révoltés contre les paroles de Dieu, Parce qu’ils avaient méprisé le conseil du Très-Haut.
Because they had rebelled against the sayings of GOD, —and, the counsel of the Most High, they had spurned;
12 Il humilia leur cœur par la souffrance; Ils succombèrent, et personne ne les secourut.
And he bowed down, with labour, their heart, They staggered, with no one to help,
13 Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l’Éternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;
Then made they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, Out of their distresses, he saved them;
14 Il les fit sortir des ténèbres et de l’ombre de la mort, Et il rompit leurs liens.
He brought them forth out of darkness and death-shade, and, their fetters, he tare off.
15 Qu’ils louent l’Éternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l’homme!
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
16 Car il a brisé les portes d’airain, Il a rompu les verrous de fer.
For he brake in pieces the doors of bronze, And, the bars of iron, he hewed asunder.
17 Les insensés, par leur conduite coupable Et par leurs iniquités, s’étaient rendus malheureux.
The perverse, by reason of their transgression, and on account of their iniquities, are afflicted;
18 Leur âme avait en horreur toute nourriture, Et ils touchaient aux portes de la mort.
All manner of food, their soul abhorreth, and so they draw near unto the gates of death,
19 Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l’Éternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;
Then make they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, and, out of their distresses, he saveth them.
20 Il envoya sa parole et les guérit, Il les fit échapper de la fosse.
He sendeth his word, and healeth them, and delivereth them from their graves.
21 Qu’ils louent l’Éternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l’homme!
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
22 Qu’ils offrent des sacrifices d’actions de grâces, Et qu’ils publient ses œuvres avec des cris de joie!
Yea let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and recount his works with a shout.
23 Ceux qui étaient descendus sur la mer dans des navires, Et qui travaillaient sur les grandes eaux,
Men who go down to the sea, in ships, doing business through mighty waters;
24 Ceux-là virent les œuvres de l’Éternel Et ses merveilles au milieu de l’abîme.
They, see the works of Yahweh, and his wonders in the deep;
25 Il dit, et il fit souffler la tempête, Qui souleva les flots de la mer.
And he speaketh, and there ariseth a tempestuous wind, which lifteth on high its rolling waves;
26 Ils montaient vers les cieux, ils descendaient dans l’abîme; Leur âme était éperdue en face du danger;
They mount the heavens, they descend the roaring deeps, their soul, by trouble, dissolveth;
27 Saisis de vertige, ils chancelaient comme un homme ivre, Et toute leur habileté était anéantie.
They reel and stagger, like a drunken man, and, all their wisdom, is engulfed,
28 Dans leur détresse, ils crièrent à l’Éternel, Et il les délivra de leurs angoisses;
Then make they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, and, out of their distresses, he bringeth them forth,
29 Il arrêta la tempête, ramena le calme, Et les ondes se turent.
He calmeth the storm to a whisper, and silent are their rolling waves:
30 Ils se réjouirent de ce qu’elles s’étaient apaisées, Et l’Éternel les conduisit au port désiré.
Then are they glad, because they are hushed, And he guideth them unto their desired haven.
31 Qu’ils louent l’Éternel pour sa bonté, Et pour ses merveilles en faveur des fils de l’homme!
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
32 Qu’ils l’exaltent dans l’assemblée du peuple, Et qu’ils le célèbrent dans la réunion des anciens!
Yea let them extol him in the convocation of the people, and, in the seated company of elders, let them praise him.
33 Il change les fleuves en désert, Et les sources d’eaux en terre desséchée,
He turneth Rivers into a desert, and, Springs of Water, into thirsty ground,
34 Le pays fertile en pays salé, A cause de la méchanceté de ses habitants.
A Land of Fruit, into a waste of salt, For the wickedness of them who dwell therein.
35 Il change le désert en étang, Et la terre aride en sources d’eaux,
He turneth A Desert, into a pool of water, and, A Parched Land into springs of water;
36 Et il y établit ceux qui sont affamés. Ils fondent une ville pour l’habiter;
And hath caused the famished to dwell there, And they have built them a city to dwell in;
37 Ils ensemencent des champs, plantent des vignes, Et ils en recueillent les produits.
And have sown fields, and planted vineyards, and made them fruits of increase:
38 Il les bénit, et ils deviennent très nombreux, Et il ne diminue point leur bétail.
Thus hath he blessed them, and they have multiplied greatly, And, their cattle, he maketh not few.
39 Sont-ils amoindris et humiliés Par l’oppression, le malheur et la souffrance;
So have they become few and been brought low, By oppression, misfortune, and sorrow;
40 Verse-t-il le mépris sur les grands, Les fait-il errer dans des déserts sans chemin,
He poureth contempt upon nobles, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste;
41 Il relève l’indigent et le délivre de la misère, Il multiplie les familles comme des troupeaux.
But he hath set the needy on high from affliction, and made families, like a flock: —
42 Les hommes droits le voient et se réjouissent, Mais toute iniquité ferme la bouche.
The upright seeth and is glad, And, all perverseness, hath closed her mouth.
43 Que celui qui est sage prenne garde à ces choses, Et qu’il soit attentif aux bontés de l’Éternel.
Who is wise? then let him observe these things! and diligently consider the lovingkindness of Yahweh.
